Passport to Patagonia

I went to : Argentina, Buenos Aires, Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Rincon Chico, Ushuaia, Hosteria Linares, El Calafate, El Galpon del Glaciar, Perito Moreno Glacier, Reino del Plata, Patagonia, Puerto Williams

What a breathtakingly beautiful area Patagonia is! It is a land of contrasts: with flat arid plains around Puerto Madryn and Peninsula Valdez and its penguin colonies and Estancias, to the awesome glaciers and otherworldly rock formations of El Calafate near the central western border of Argentina. At its southernmost tip are the enormous craggy mountain ranges and tranquil shores, and wooded islands found along the Beagle Channel. Amazing vistas met us at every turn on our trek through this never-to-be-forgotten region of God's world!

West Africa Cruise on the Pegasus

I went to : Africa, Senegal, Gambia

The West Africa cruise on the 45 passage Pegasus with just 29 on board was one of the best cruises I have ever completed. The Gambia is a bird lovers paradise and the 3 hour excursion to Bao Bolong Wetland Reserve was one of the best ever. The 5K walk in the Kiang West National Park was amazing. The people and sites of Senegal and The Gambia are well worth the trip!!

Colombia Trip

I went to : Argentina, Buenos Aires

Bogota is a high altitude city with a 500+ year history involving Spain and Europe. Of interest is the fact that the Colombian government is the most friendly to the USA of all South American countries. We saw evidence of progress in many facets of the country. The flag represent their history and culture: yellow for the gold mined, blue for the two oceans (Pacific and Atlantic) that flank the country, and red, for the blood of the Martyrs fighting for Independence. We were so blessed to be a part of the Dubberly's life and church while in Bogota. May God continue to bless their ministry as they serve Him!

Belize is an extraordinarily beautiful and peaceful country, only the size of Massachusetts or Wales with a population of just 294,000. We can highly recommend Belize to you all. We will return there, no doubt about that!

2011 ended with a big finish! We explored a land we never imagined we'd visit, yet found to be amazing at every turn. Nicaragua is a land of many contrasts: colonial cities, active volcanoes, and cloud forest canopies. We visited La Isla de Ometepe, our very own "Christmas Island" and ended the year on the Pacific beaches surrounding San Juan del Sur. We kayaked, hiked, and even did a little surfing--on the volcano and off the shore.The three of us (Marnie, Steve, and our good friend Sam) documented our adventures and misadventures and are excited to share them with you.

And we learned: that a large black garbage bag makes a great raincoat in a pinch.That you keep your toes away from streaming ants.To bring extra clothing in small dry bags so that you can go to dinner in something other than your pajamas. . .That you are ALONE when you are alone in the rainforest. And you thought you were happy on a cruise!

Our wonderful trip to Belize began with four nights in the Jungle of Lamania. We stayed at the Lamanai Outpost Lodge and took day and night trips filled with adventure and amazement. Our guide, Maricio, took us on night safari, spear fishing, canoeing, birding and a wonderful trip to the local ruins.

It was an extraordinary trip; Antarctica, a continent, is an environment of monochromatic beauty accented with remarkable lighting. All the shades of white, grey and black in the skies, clouds, ice, land and sea depict a calmness, a serenity, a cohesiveness that is almost hypnotic. Watching the landscape/seascape never grew old.
