With temperatures in the mid-40s, we often dropped our jackets on the rocks near the beach and hiked up to see the penguin colonies. We were often 10 to 100 feet from a large group of penguins. Some were still building their nests ? stealing rocks from each other. Some had eggs they were protecting. We even got to see some mating activity! At other landings we could see penguin chicks being fed. The icebergs near Spert island and sunset in the Lemaire Channel were awesome. To top it all we had 2 landings on the Antartic continent. Highly recommend this expedition!</description>
