Patagonia - 2013

I went to : Argentina, Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, Chile, Punta Arenas, Torres del Paine, Refugio Los Cuernos, Las Torres EcoCamp, Hosteria Pehoe, El Calafate, Paine Grande Mountain Lodge, Cape Horn, Magdalena Island, Pia Glacier, Elevage Buenos Aires, Aguila Glacier, Patagonia, Santiago, South America

To the "end of the world" and back. My sister and I started the trip with a stay over in Buenos Aires before taking a flight to Ushuaia. Together we hiked and kayaked through Tierra del Fuego. We set foot on Cape Horn and an island inhabited only by penguins. Together, we sailed the Straits of Magellan; we learned about the history of Patagonia: the indigenous people, plants, animals, explorers, wars, politics and the people of today. We tasted foods and drank wine and beer of the region. Finally, we trekked the W circuit of Torres del Paine. A promise was made between my sister and I - that we would travel to the end of the world together. That promise was filled with our Patagonia trip. The experience of being in such a beautiful place, together, as we promised so many years ago, was unforgettable. Life is too short to miss out on all the beauty the world has to offer.

Our Amazing Trip to the Falkland Islands

With the help of Adventure Life, we planned a last-minute trip to the Falkland Islands last December. We wanted to time our travels with the breeding cycle of the migratory penguins and we definitely succeeded - we saw so many fluffy, chubby baby penguins and were lucky enough to see albatross chicks and baby seals too!

Antarctica XXI Fly/Cruise on Ocean Nova

I went to : Antarctica, South Shetland Islands, King George Island, Lemaire Channel, Chile, Punta Arenas, Hotel Rey Don Felipe, Gerlache Strait, Hotel Isla Rey Jorge, Santiago, Holiday Inn Airport, South America, Antarctic Peninsula

We flew across the Drake Passage from Rio Gallegos, Argentina to King George Island on an Argentine Air Force C-130 and cruised on the Ocean Nova for 4 days before flying back to Punta Arenas, Chile.The weather could not be any better! With temperatures in the mid-40s, we often dropped our jackets on the rocks near the beach and hiked up to see the penguin colonies. We were often 10 to 100 feet from a large group of penguins. Some were still building their nests ? stealing rocks from each other. Some had eggs they were protecting. We even got to see some mating activity! At other landings we could see penguin chicks being fed. The icebergs near Spert island and sunset in the Lemaire Channel were awesome. To top it all we had 2 landings on the Antartic continent. Highly recommend this expedition!
