-- Antarctica Cruises --

Joanne Brown (Corinthian II, Jan 2008)
Jenny and Jonathan were very helpful with arranging the trip plus extras. And even though I couldn't see their faces they always seemed to have a smile on. I booked this trip 1.5 years in advance, and the entire time I never thought of it as a "cruise." I always thought of it as an adventure. I can't imagine a place I would ever go that would top what I saw. The sights were amazing and wonderful. The expedition staff was in a class by themselves. Thank you for a great experience.

Adrienne Lesser (Corinthian II, Jan 2008)
The Antarctica trip was the trip of a lifetime. The only word that comes close to describing it is overwhelming. The ship (Corinthian II) is luxurious and the appointments and accommodations were first class. The staff (both expedition and crew) were knowledgeable and organized our time to the best possible advantage. It is an experience we will never forget.

Sharon Ragle (Antarctic Dream, Jan 2008)
It truly was all that I wanted it to be with very few exceptions. However, even though I knew it would be beautiful down there, I was still stunned by how pristine and pure it was. I sincerely hope that humans can continue to touch this stark and beautiful continent lightly, control the visitations, and that the people that follow will feel the same desire to protect this special spot. Thank you so much - Jenny and Jonathan - for all the help, advice, and enthusiasm regarding the journey.

Stephen Lerner (Professor Molchanov, Jan 2008)
A trip to Antarctica is truly a voyage of discovery, to a place that is other-worldly, yet so important for our planet. The sensory input during the trip is marvelous - seeing, hearing, and learning. The experiences that the ship and its staff afford us bring us into oceanography, marine biology, ecology, geology, glaciology, animals and their behavior, evolution. I could go on and on. The three guide staff were deeply committed personally to polar exploration and the associated disciplines, and they are highly experienced, with a total of several decades of experience in Antarctic and also Arctic. Their enthusiasm and commitment ease one quickly into a much better comprehension about facts and issues of which my knowledge had before been more sketchy.

In addition to cruising, the landings, lectures, filmed presentations, and just off-the-cuff discussions were exciting and invaluable. The Russian crew of the Russian icebreaker, the Professor Molchanov was very experienced and friendly. They delivered us to difficult areas, provided wonderful all-time access to the bridge. The ship was comfortable and cozy, and the food was surprising good and varied. One must not forget the passengers, who were extremely diverse and interesting in themselves. Of the 52 passengers, only three (including me) were from the U.S., and many countries were represented among ... Read All

Diane Telgen (Antarctic Dream, Jan 2008)
Our trip to Antarctica truly was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. We were impressed by the professionalism, organization, and quality of the Antarctic Dream staff, which only enhanced our enjoyment of Antartica's spectacular natural beauty. We couldn't have imagined a better trip, and Adventure Life did a great job preparing us for what to bring, getting us there, and clearing up some last-minute confusion with Aerolineas Argentinas.

Carol Gluckman (Akademik Ioffe, Dec 2007)
I would highly recommend visiting Antarctica on the Ioffe. The captain had a 24 hour open bridge policy which made for some great pics and interesting conversation. The staff members were very knowledgeable and they covered their lecture topics with enthusiasm and humor. The staff and crew on the ship were all wonderful. They were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history, wildlife and environment of Antarctica. They always had a plan B, C, or D thought out if weather prevented us from doing something.

Siobhan Beecher (Akademik Ioffe, Dec 2007)
The crew of the Akademik Ioffe were professional and entertaining throughout the trip. Their enthusiasm was contagious. The flexibility of the crew to deal with the expectations of all the passengers was great. Ad hoc events organised on board were very entertaining. It was excellent - trip of a lifetime.

Julie Taylor (Antarctic Dream, Dec 2007)
This was a dream come true for myself and my family. The scenery was indescribable. We saw such wonderful wildlife from the funny escapes of the Gentoo and Chinstrap penguins, to being lucky to see a Macaroni and King penguins. There were a variety of seals and wales that swam by. The best was Neko Bay, seeing and experiencing the adrenaline rush as an enormous iceberg calved. I have already started recommending the Antarctic Dream.

Lori Vitrone (Antarctic Dream, Dec 2007)
This was for certain a trip of a lifetime. We were fortunate that the weather was good but even if it wasn't, the tour, accommodations and food were great. The entire crew and staff were friendly and worked tirelessly. I was amazed by the amount of work they put in with always a smile. The intimacy of a small number of passengers made it all the more fun as we got to know each other and share our stories and create new memories together as a group.

Nadeen Gilmartin (Professor Molchanov, Dec 2007)
The trip was fabulous! Always something to do and when we had down time we were welcome on the Bridge or could gather in the lounge to visit, or we could take a nap to be ready for our next zodiac adventure. This cruise was more than I could have dreamed. I saw so much fascinating wildlife and landscape, it was mind boggling.

Francisca Neethling (Aleksey Maryshev, Dec 2007)
What a fantastic trip! Much of the time it seemed like we were on a totally different planet - that landscape is unbelievable. The ship's crew and staff are incomparable, and I'll never be able to beat this vacation. Trip of a lifetime - absolutely fantastic - thanks so much for helping us take it.

Laurie Pyle (Antarctica - MV Orlova, Nov 2007)
My husband and I have only been home a few days and our trip to Antarctica still seems so surreal! Photographs don't even come close to depicting how beautiful and unspoiled Antarctica is, or how spectacular and entertaining the wildlife is. Jenny, our Adventure Life trip coordinator was always there to answer any questions we had to provide useful advise regarding what gear we really needed for the cold weather. (Coming from Texas where we don't get snow her advise was invaluable!) She also helped us to book hotels, flights and additional tours adjacent to our expedition and made sure we had everything taken care of before we left.

The MV Orlova expedition crew was fantastic. There was a great ratio of expedition staff to passengers that made it easy to turn and ask for help identifying the many birds, seals and other wildlife of the antarctic. My husband and I both work and only had limited time for this vacation. We were initially concerned that the Classic Antarctica trip might not be enough time to experience everything given it is one of the shorter trips. in the end we found this trip to be just right. We don't feel like we missed out on anything or that the trip was too short or too long. My advice, don't put off this wonderful experience for years waiting until you have more time, you'll never know what you are missing!

Brendan Dillon (Ocean Nova, Nov 2007)
The expedition staff on board the ship were very enthusiastic and had excellent knowledge of their respective subjects. The food was as good as any restaurant or hotel. The standard of meals and variety of menus was excellent. The tour was everything I expected and more!

I have been looking forward to this trip for a long time and I was not disappointed with any part of it. I would love to go again and if I do I would not change any part of it. I would have no problem recommending it to family or friends. Thank you again for all your help!

Rolf Greenborough and Margaret Shorter (Antarctica aboard Grigoriy Mikheev, Feb 2007)
How can one not be impressed by a tour that took us to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and the Antarctic Peninsula? It was amazing to find ourselves on a beach surrounded by 50,0000 pairs of King Penguins.

Robert and Daphne Clay (Antarctica Cruise: Aleksy Maryshev: Weddell Sea, Jan 2007)
We had great support throughout the planning of the trip. Jonathan helped in the initial discussion and decision making, then Jenny continued with booking flights and answering our many and varied questions. We also appreciated the phone call from your representative once we were back in Ushuaia. The pre-departure information concerning clothing, equipment, etc. was very informative and useful.

The cooks were willing to accommodate and cater to various food choices, e.g. we are not able to eat cheese. The Russian crew were very obliging and when we were on the bridge, they answered questions, showed us charts and never seemed to mind how many and how often people went to the bridge.

Overall this tour was excellent from the time we boarded to when we embarked. Safety was dealt with immediately and it was great to be able to get into the lifeboat and practice what would happen in an emergency rather than just being told. Troels Jacobsen and his team were very good and we appreciated being able to wander within the limits set, and have the opportunity to return to the ship early if need be, although we never did. We were usually one of the last people to return to the zodiacs each day. Troels met us on shore as our zodiac arrived and explained the limits of the landing, what to observe, and when to head back. He organized a full program for us ... Read All

Andy and Mary Anne Van Coutren (Antarctica: Corinthian II, Jan 2007)
Our tour was awesome!!! And in our special case we had never even thought of going to Antarctica. After the Drake Passage, each morning we opened our curtains to another awesome sight.

Tom and Jaqueline Sullivan (Antarctica: Polar Star, Jan 2007)
The expedition leader was one of the most dedicated, hard working, organized, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and professional I had ever encountered. He did everything humanly possible to make sure we did everything and experienced all.

Anne Kilner (Explorers Route-Falklands, St. Georgia, and Antarctica Peninsula, Jan 2007)
Overall, I was very happy with the support and information I received from Adventure Life over a number of months. The cabin on the Orlova was good, very comfortable, and clean. The hotel on the first night was also excellent. All activities were well organized and on time, ie. Tierra del Fuego National Park and joining the ship. Guides and expedition team leaders were excellent.

I'd love to write reams of comments here but my experience is still so much in my heart and memory that the words to describe it haven't really started to form yet. The words that often came to mind whenever we did a landing or zodiac cruise were awesome, majestic, sublime, incomparable, breathtaking, and a lot of wow’s. People on board were all careful and concerned to leave no impact on any of the places we visited. It was a magical experience that will stay with me forever.

Jerome Dean McCoy (Antarctica: Polar Star, Jan 2007)
I received excellent treatment aboard the Polar Star. The food was gourmet all the way! Overall, this cruise was outstanding and I am ready to do it again.

Lisa Muellner (Antarctica: Akademik Shokalskiy, Jan 2007)
I had very high expectations for this trip. I looked forward to it for most of my life and it lived up to my expectations. Before the trip, I looked at it as a once in a lifetime adventure, but I cannot stand the thought of never going back, so I hope to do something similar again. Even the memory of getting seasick brings a smile to my face. I would not change a thing if I could do it over. Thanks for a great experience.

Tim and Barbara Senter (Antarctica: Aleksey Maryshev, Feb 2007)
Everything was more and better than we expected. We thank everyone included.

Jenny Wittmaack (Antarctica: Professor Multanovskiy, Mar 2007)
The pre-departure support was excellent. The Adventure Life staff provided prompt responses to questions and was very nice. I would do this same trip again, preferably with the same crew and expedition leaders. This was one of the best trips I have ever gone on.

Seth Berger (Antarctic Dream, Jan 2007)
The food on this ship was spectacular. Treks in Antarctica, sledding down peaks, food variety and quality, ship accomodations, fantastic fellow passangers, and the ships dining room were great.

Jay Kaiser (Antarctic Dream, Jan 2007)
The ship was more than expected. The food was spectacular and way beyond expectations.

Dave Weber (Antarctica Cruise: Professor Multanovskiy, Jan 2007)
The accommodations throughout the tour were better than expected. (There was too much food on the ship), but it was delicious. Overall, this was an awesome tour!!!

Chris and Baird Brown (Antarctica Cruise: Multanovskiy, Jan 2007)
Antarctica was more beautiful than we expected. A terrific adventure.

Trixie Anders and John Thomas (Antarctica Cruise: End of the World Explorer II, Dec 2006)
The Explorer II was the most incredible experience-far above our expectations.

Steve Benson (Antarctica: Orvola, Dec 2006)
This tour was the best, coolest, most exciting thing I have ever done! Jonathan and Jenny were the best!

Debra and Michael Raymond (Antarctica: Sarpik Ittuk and Iguazu Falls, Dec 2006)
Jonathan Brunger was extremely responsive and informative regarding the Antarctica trip. I think that because of our discussions, the Sarpik choice was just perfect for my husband and I. Jenny was also very helpful with trip paperwork and details. Our pre-arranged transfer went very smoothly. Also, we received a message about a flight change at the hotel the night before and were very impressed and pleased; this kind of attention showed care and consideration of their travelers. We thought the lodge staff at Yacutinga was wonderful. They were all knowledgeable and friendly with strong English skills, which was very helpful for us. They created a warm environment and camaraderie among the guests. Thank you Jenny and Jonathan for providing a wonderful trip for my husband's fortieth birthday!

Lynn Hardin (Antarctica: Orvola, Nov 2006)
My pre-departure support from Adventure Life was excellent, Jenny went out of her way to make sure all of my documents were over-nighted. The boat and its crew were everything and more. The food was great and the trip was very educational. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had in a preplanned excursion-especially to my final continent-Antarctica!

Richard and Darcy Caron (Classic Antarctica, Dec 2006)
Adventure Life is professional, but you feel like you are dealing with friends. Our hotel in Ushuaia had an amazing view-and the ship's cooks were amazing. This tour was everything we expected and there is no way to describe the surreal experience of standing on the deck of a ship with thirty odd glaciers, icebergs, and mountain peaks splayed out in front of you.

Alfred Griffin (Antarctica Cruise: Academik Vavilov, Dec 2006)
I was very please with my accommodations throughout the tour. The friendliness and enthusiasm of the local guides was very much above my expectations. I was very impressed with their knowledge, experience, and helpfulness in all regards. The food on the ship was also above my expectations-with excellent variety, great presentation, and adequate portions. Overall, this was a great tour and I would rate it as a trip of a lifetime. Antarctica is something that has to be experienced, I cannot do it justice with words or pictures!

Now Leong (Sarpik Ittuk, Dec 2006)
Adventure Life was very attentive-they were great in telling me what to bring and what to wear for this type of climate. Being that I am a backpacker I felt like the accommodations were luxurious. This was an excellent tour!

Susan Carlson (Antarctica Cruise - Grigoriy Mikheev + Iguazu Falls, Feb 2006)
I've traveled in every continent and with many different tour agencies, seeking out adventures in extreme places. This is the first time I've totally traveled independently and you never let me down - not once! Being in a new country and not knowing the language and traveling alone as a female is a bit daunting, even for a seasoned traveler. And here I was, trusting a travel agency that I had picked off the internet! You all are first class, all the way!

The pre-departure support from the Adventure Life office was the best! Phone calls and e-mails were promptly returned and I was kept well informed. Even the smallest details were taken care of and the people I worked with were fun and enthusiastic.

The ship far exceeded my expectations - totally competent crew, good food and excellent expedition leaders. The expedition leaders were enthusiastic, energetic, very bright and capable - they were all personable and caring. Even in the midst of a Category 10 storm that lasted for 2 days on the Drake Passage, I never felt worried.

What an adventure! In Argentina, the Yacutinga Lodge and its programs are stunning - such luxury and yet sensitivity to the environment. And Iguazu Falls… When I compare the sorry development around Niagara Falls, I'm sad for the U.S. and Canada. Argentina and Brazil do a much better job, to say the least. ... Read All

Sue Carlson (Grigoriy Mikheev Antarctica Cruise + Iguazu Falls, Feb 2006)
I just returned this afternoon from one of the most awesome trips of my life - and I have had many outstanding trips! First, I want to compliment the Adventure Life office staff for all of the trip arrangements that you made. Everything went very smoothly. All the folks who were to meet me were on time and very efficient. All of the vouchers showed up and all were accurate. The airline tickets were just as you arranged, as were the hotels. I don't think I have ever had a trip go so smoothly. Thank you, thank you!

The ship was wonderful and the Antarctic was magical - a fantasy in ice. I have been raving about the crew, the excursion leaders, the itinerary, and on, and on. I am so happy to have gone on this trip!

Joan Offerle (Aleksey Maryshev Antarctica Cruise, Feb 2006)
The office support before we left was excellent. You addressed our questions, no matter how minor they may have seemed. The trip itself - Amazing! Wonderful! All we'd hoped! The Aleksey Maryshev was just right for us and well designed to allow for comfort in a minimum of space. The Russian crew seemed shy, but all were very kind, helpful and gracious. The food on the ship was excellent. It was amazing what they could do in a tiny galley!

Bob O'Reilly Jr. (Akademik Ioffe Antarctica Cruise, Jan 2006)
The ship and the people were awesome! I would give the food on the ship 5 stars.

Betty Gnass (M/S Andrea Antarctica Cruise, Jan 2006)
This trip was superb! The crew of the ship and the expedition leaders were all great. I would do this trip again in a minute.

Eck Khoon Goh (M/S Andrea Antarctica Cruise, Jan 2006)
Antarctica was beyond my wildest expectations. The ship's crew and staff on board were excellent and very friendly. The scenery was surreal - the penguins and other wildlife were worth the crossing of the Drake Passage!

John and Sally Atkins (Polar Star Antarctica Cruise, Nov 2005)
Everyone on the Polar Star staff was very enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable. The tour was everything we expected and more!

Jennifer Hill (M/V Orlova Antarctica Cruise, Dec 2005)
Our cruise was excellent. We made more stops on Antarctica than we expected, which was great. This trip is great for not only couples, but also for families. There is lots to learn for the entire family.

Linda Gaughran and Kenneth Grimes (MS Andrea Antarctica Cruise + Iguazu Falls, Feb 2005)
This was an amazing trip. We want to go back!

Thank you so much for your help in planning our trip. It was spectacular. Our accommodations and adventures on the side trips as well as the local contacts for tours and transportation were great. Adventure Life took great care of us, and the add-on trips to Buenos Aires, Yacutinga and Iguazu Falls were also spectacular. You guys rock!

Here is the advice I can offer to you and your clients about traveling to Antarctica….

NOTES FROM OUR ANTARCTICA, SOUTH GEORGIA, FALKLANDS TRIP ON THE MS ANDREA

RUBBER BOOTS

Cheap rubber boots are fine. I spent $20 from Gemplers.com. Make sure they are 16+” high, completely waterproof and that they have a good tread/lug depth - the ice and the penguin poop can be slippery and you will be stepping into the water getting in and out of the rafts. Do not bring lined or insulated boots because they will not dry out in time for your next landing. Get the boots a couple sizes bigger than usual to accommodate thick socks. I wear a women’s size 9 shoe and bought men’s size 9 boots (equivalent of women’s size 10.5), which gave me enough extra length and width to accommodate the socks. The best combination we found was a Smartwool or Coolmax sock liner under a heavyweight wicking hiking sock. That way you can wash and dry the liners overnight and wash the heavyweights ... Read All

Walt West (Professor Molchanov Antarctica Cruise, Feb 2005)
Antarctica! I’m writing this brief story of my recent travel to Antarctica in late February 2005. This is just two weeks after returning from a thrilling, unbelievable, and different expedition-type adventure, where you never know what to expect and the itinerary is determined largely by the erratic and changing weather and sea conditions.

My tour was based on a Russian ship, the M/V Professor Molchanov, with Captain Evgeny Baturkin commanding the crew of twenty. We were 42 passengers – 17 from the USA and 25 from nine other countries.

My efforts on the way down confirmed that a trip to Antarctica must be earned. I left home at 2 AM to go to the Philadelphia airport for my flight to Miami. Hours later I boarded a second plane for an overnight flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina. I spent a night in Buenos Aires before boarding my flight to Ushuaia, on the southernmost tip of Argentina. After a night in Ushuaia, I finally boarded the ship and settled in to my cabin.

I was finally starting to get excited and really believing that we were getting ready to go. After all, my first knowledge of the Antarctic went back to 1929 when I, and many others, used to hang on the drama of the short wave radio broadcasts from Richard Byrd in ‘Little America’. From then on, even though I served in the Arctic Polar Regions during WWII and had visited ... Read All

Nancy and Donald Benjamin (Professor Molchanov Antarctica Cruise + Patagonia Panorama + Iguazu Falls, Jan 2005)
This was the trip of a lifetime! Each segment of the tour was obviously well thought out and provided the best use of time to make the most out of our visit.

The size and structure of the Professor Molchanov was exactly what we hoped for: a small group of passengers, a very competent crew, and experienced and knowledgeable group leaders. We were able to do everything that we had hoped to do!

Damian Smith (Polar Pioneer Antarctica Cruise, Jan 2005)
My tour was outstanding! Antarctica is absolutely overwhelming! It is beyond any scale that you'll find in daily life. Going there is a must for adventurous travelers and Adventure Life did a great job in making the trip easy for me.

Dave Banks (MS Andrea Antarctica Cruise, Jan 2005)
The tour was great! The trip leaders were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and the ship crew was outstanding. My visit to Antarctica was everything that I was hoping for and more!

Lynn Frieda (M/V Orlova Antarctica Cruise, Feb 2005)
The tour was everything I expected! The two assistant expedition leaders, in particular, were EXCELLENT! The ship crew also could not have been better. The food was incredible, particularly given the rough weather.

***Click on the above link to see Lynn's website and pictures of her trip!

Stephanie Lanzone (M/V Orlova Antarctica Cruise, Feb 2005)
This was my first experience traveling on my own, and I want to thank Adventure Life! Adventure Life paid close attention to the trip details so even as a single female in a foreign country, I felt safe and comfortable at all times. I was able to just sit back and soak up the incredible experience!

Antarctica itself was simply mind-blowing! There are not enough words to describe the raw majesty of the landscape and its inhabitants!

John and Ernestine McCloud (MS Andrea Antarctica Cruise + Iguazu Falls, Dec 2004)
An excellent tour! We have traveled worldwide for more than 20 years, and this ranks at or near the top of more than 40 international excursions! We enjoyed all parts of the trip - Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, the Antarctica cruise, and Iguazu Falls.

Richard Ricci and Andrea Cambria (MS Endeavor Antarctica Cruise, Jan 2004)
The accommodations, food, crew, and guides were all excellent! The kayaking was a very nice option and we would encourage more guests to try it.

Les Moore (Andrea Antarctica Cruise, Dec 2004)
We're home after our Antarctic trip, although not yet over the traveling and 10 hour time change. But even before our heads clear, I thought I should get in touch with you to let you know how absolutely delighted we are with the experience. It exceeded our expectations in every regard. The ship is exceedingly well appointed, the crew and hospitality staff on board were wonderful, and the food on board was outstanding. The expedition team was amazing in their knowledge, experience and helpfulness. The landings were well planned and every one was a different experience. All in all, our trip was a wonderful experience.

Edna Rensing (Polar Star Antarctica Cruise + Iguazu Falls, Dec 2004)
I had a great time. I did things I would never usually do - zip-line over the canopy and repel down a waterfall. I'd do it again - over more time. Antarctica was awesome. The lighting - never knew when to sleep.

Elaine and Mike Shields (Professor Multanovskiy Antarctica Cruise, Dec 2004)
You have gone from a website (I wonder if it's a scam??) to almost personal friends. You were so helpful in setting up our trip, even when we wanted to deviate from the usual scheduling. Your written communications were professional and timely. And most important, everyone we talked to was friendly, helpful, and when you didn't have an immediate answer to a question, you found the answer and called back. Is there a score above A+?

You arranged our reservations with Quark for the Antarctic Tour. The trip was all it was advertised to be and all we could wish for. We wanted to experience the Antarctic, with the wind in our faces, penguins at our feet and our feet on the actual continent. We did not want a floating palace with bingo and swimming pool. We got the right tour for us and would recommend it for any other able-bodied, independent minded traveler.

Adventure Life arranged that we be escorted from the international Buenos Aires airport to the national airport. Our escort, Joe, was a highlight of the trip! It's hard to believe we spent less than 2 hours with Joe (an hour on our way south and an hour on our way north two weeks later). He is so pleasant, a delight to visit with, helpful and courteous. I just can't say enough nice things about him.

Since we stayed in Ushuaia two nights after the tour, you arranged for us to stay at another hotel. Posada ... Read All

Ann Abele and Paul Leiter (Andrea Antarctica Cruise, Dec 2004)
We had a fantastic time. Who would have through that we could sail into an active volcano! The penguins and seals were entertaining to say the least. The size and color of the icebergs were surreal. We were glad we had done an Alaskan cruise first as Antarctica is an extremely hard act to follow. We had some rough water on the Drake Passage, but I had done knowing that. The trip was fantastic and after swimming in -1-degree water, I'm a Polar Penguin Club Member -- much more prestigious than a Polar Bear Member. There were lectures by geologists, birders, wildlife experts and such, which helped make the shore excursions that much more enjoyable. The small number of passengers made a much more intimate atmosphere and we were able to meet most of them. Of course, the day after I got home, I ended up in the hospital for three days after having a ladder kicked out under me and separating my elbow. But even that couldn't take the edge off the trip. It was great!

Les Moore and Sabine Westland (Antarctica Cruise: Orlova, Jan 0)
The expedition crew on the ship were very good. Their backgrounds and experience were very impressive and their attitudes were friendly and helpful. They were very enthusiastic and well organized for whatever we were doing. The food on the ship was good and well presented. The Adventure Life staff was always friendly, co-operative, and helpful. I might add that this is our third travel experience and each experience has been the same!!
