Small ship expeditions are really the only way to really see Antarctica. We had so much fun even when the weather was not cooperating. When you are in a zodiac with about 7 other people and sail around the bergs, it really conveys the vast white wilderness that is Antarctica. There is no better experience than having a Humpback or Minke Whale swim right below the small zodiac you are in, and then it surfaces feet away from you so that a wide angle lens gets the best shot. You cannot get this from a large ship. Also, visiting research stations is so much fun for all involved. A load of people would detract from the experience. We were so glad to be on a ship like the Grigory Mikheev where everyone gets to know everyone and such wonderful adventures can be had. I hope one day to return to Antarctica but first hope to explore the Arctic on a similar ship. Thanks to all at Adventure life that helped us arrange everything just as we dreamed!
