A wonderful once in a lifetime experience. It was everything we expected, and better than expected in most parts!
I will definitely recommend Adventure Life to people planning to travel in South America. The standard of accommodation, tour guides and the fact that we could rely absolutely on being managed in transition was fantastic.
Marianne Kutz and Antal Szijj (Guatemala Custom Tour, Jul 2007)
We were so pleased and thrilled by the amount of effort your staff went through to take care of EVERY detail and request on our custom tour, from the birthday wine to finding specialized birding guides. It was perfect! Very organized, yet flexible to our needs every step of the way. We couldn't have been happier with everything.
Hannan Family (Custom Costa Rica, Jul 2007)
We wanted to make a last-minute change and really appreciated Adventure Life accommodating it, especially when it involved two lodges and a change in transportation time. The trip was wonderful, very relaxing, but plenty to do when we wanted to. Marcos, who drove us to and from Puerto Jimenez, was great about stopping to show us wildlife - he pointed out monkey and crocodiles!
Catherine Pendlebury (Galapagos Cruise: Corals, Jun 2007)
The Casa Aliso is a beautiful hotel. This was the best tour ever and will be hard to top!

Dear Adventure Life -
I would just like to compliment your company on one of your guides for the Inca Trail. I booked my trip with a competitor firm but while on my trek met one of your guides named Vidal. I was happy with my tour guide - but was impressed with Vidal and his knowledge, friendliness and concern for trekkers other than his "clients". As it turned out - I became friends with his trek clients through him which enhanced my experience and visit. However -the most impressive thing was his concern on the final day of the trek for a girl who had fallen and injured herself (a torn ligament). Vidal helped her to receive medical attention at Machu Picchu, he carried her backpack, and generally lent assistance - and he wasn't even her guide! To me - this is a professional - and one who well represents your firm; plus it is the true spirit of Peru - kind, helpful and not only in search of tourist dollars! I hope you may be able to commend him or reward him. Next time I will consider Adventure Life on the basis of his representation of your firm!

You were the first site on the Internet that I looked at. I was so impressed with the amount of information and how thorough it was that I hardly looked at any others. Even though this was my first time traveling with a travel group/company, I felt comfortable with my choice based on the support of your staff and the supply of details. I'm looking forward to another trip!
Gerald and Judith Porter (Guatemala Explorer, Jun 2006)
We have done extensive adventure travel prior to this trip, and we would rate this as the best organized trip we have taken. We'd be happy to highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this type of travel.

Everything went off like clockwork and everyone took great care of us. Our guide was great - knowledgeable, caring, competent, enthusiastic and good company.
Thank you for organizing such a wonderful and carefree adventure for me and my friends. We will talk about it for years to come!

As a rule, we take beach type and cruise trips. This was our first "adventure"-type trip. We loved it! There is not a better way to integrate into the local culture.

Thank you so much for making this somewhat inexperienced world traveler feel so confident. The trip to the Galapagos changed my worldview and the trip went so smoothly. I had a wonderful time!
Dot Meola (Hamanasi Adventure + Ambergris Caye, Mar 2006)
This was our second tour with Adventure Life and it was so relaxing and fun. We were very confident going to Central America knowing that everything would run smoothly. We had a great mix of adventure and relaxation, and are trying to decide where to go next!
Dennis Riordan (Galapagos Category 1 Cruise - Angelique + Sacha Lodge, Mar 2006)
Amazing! The duration of my trip was one month - and this was my first international travel experience! With Adventure Life I always knew someone was there for me. What a great comfort! The trip was far beyond my expectations!!
Pam and Brian Layzell (Belize Explorer - Ambergris Caye, Feb 2006)
We not only enjoyed the activities and sites that we visited but also the way that the tour was conducted with respect to supporting the local economy. This allowed us to become more intimate with the people, their culture and their way of life. This could not have happened on a typical vacation, or if we would have planned the trip ourselves.
Tuhin Sen (Machu Picchu by Train, Dec 2005)
This was our second trip with Adventure Life. We couldn't believe it, but this trip even outdid our first one! There really is no equal when it comes to South American vacation packages. Please keep up the good work!
Jill Montgomery (Galapagos Luxury Cruise - Eclipse, Nov 2005)
This was one of the best trips we have ever taken! It is the first time we have traveled with a company making the arrangements for us - we usually travel independently. We loved what Adventure Life did for us and we would not have seen or done so much as independent travelers.
We hope to spend more time in the future traveling to South America, and we now would not attempt to do so without Adventure Life making the arrangements!
Brenda Simmons (Guatemala Explorer, Dec 2005)
I've never had such a well-executed tour anywhere, anytime! Traveling in a third world country is generally a crapshoot, at best. Adventure Life made it an amazing adventure!
Jonathan Siekmann (Machu Picchu by Train + Inti Raymi, Jun 2005)
The tour was everything we expected and more! Peru is such a charming country. I really appreciated the values and spirit of Adventure Life. I got a sense of them from the website, and the reality on the ground reflected my expectations.
Bonnie and Joseph Lamphere (Rainforest and Ruins - Belize, Jan 2005)
We did things, went places, and saw things we never would have otherwise. This was not the "same old vacation" - and we had fun! I don't think that we've ever dealt with a travel company that took so much care with its customers. Usually, once the money is paid for a vacation, you're pretty much on your own. But we never felt that way at all with Adventure Life. There was always a resource person available and we really appreciated that. Thanks, we had a great time!
Christoph and Nancy Schachinger (Beaches and Rainforest - Costa Rica, Apr 2005)
This is the best vacation we have ever had!!! The trip wasn't what we expected - it was better! We are not "tour" type of people, and so we were apprehensive about the trip at first. But we never felt that we were part of a tour group during our time in Costa Rica. Everything was perfect and we can't imagine going anywhere in Latin America without going with Adventure Life!
Jeralyn O'Brien (Awesome Argentina, Mar 2005)
Adventure Life put together a great trip, did all the planning and work, and I just enjoyed! It really was an awesome trip and I would definitely be interested in traveling with your company again!
Stewart and Maryann Shaw (Earth, Fire, and Water, Mar 2005)
The tour was marvelous! This was the first time we used a tour company to plan our vacations, and we felt really catered to. Having a guide who was so knowledgeable made the trip so relaxing. We didn't have to worry about where we needed to go to next or if we would have problems with the language barrier, so it really took the pressure off of us!
Annie Gage, Barbara Green, and Corey Greengage (Beaches and Rainforest, Feb 2005)

It was far better than I could have hoped for. Thank you for organizing it so well. Having private tours and small group expeditions is the only way to do this type of trip. While others were herded like sheep, we were given hands on experiences such as tasting medicinal bark and learning to use lichen as dye.

On the final day of our trip Sandy said, "I can't think of any way to have made this trip better." Neither could I. The Wild Tambopata 7 Day trip was absolutely fantastic!!!! All we really knew about Adventure Life was what was written on the web site. Truth or fiction? Ayul our tour guide was AWESOME and made this trip the best I have ever been on! You have a great asset in Ayul and you should ensure he is happy and well taken care of as he is a great ambassador not only for Peru but also your company! I can't say enough about the service Ayul provided and his knowledge and passion for Peru! He was the differentiating factor in this trip being a really great for me vs. being the excellent trip that is turned out to be!
Mario, our cook on the hike, was the best. The food he prepared was better than most restaurant food! The porters were also amazing, we never wanted for anything and despite the language barrier with our cook and porters, we felt totally at home, welcome, and secure!
Adventure Life exceeded my expectations, you should consider starting excursions to Africa!! That is my next destination and you have set the bar so very high, I fear I will not find a tour company that will meet your level of service! Thanks for a memory that will last a life time!
Jeff Koppelmaa and Teri Klein (Cachiccata Trek, Jun 2007)
All transfers were on time and executed perfectly! Our guide, Ayul, was amazing-I cannot say enough great things about him! This tour was simply wonderful and exceeded our expectations across the board-I cannot say enough about how great it was.
David Charles and Carmen Scott (Cachiccata Trek, Jun 2007)
We could not ask for a better bunch of people. Mario, our cook, was terrific and prepared splendid meals. This tour was absolutely fantastic. Luis "Lobo" is so knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and always eager to please. We now have friends in Peru and felt sad to leave them. We will return for sure.
Jeff Scherz and Rachel Mele (Cachiccata Trek, Sep 2005)
Our guide, Washington, made a very good tour excellent. Knowledgeable, very attentive, sensitive, and we felt very safe. His love for Incan Peru and its people was infectious.
The trip was everything we expected, and a whole lot more than we could have imagined. Especially being so "up close and personal" with the Peruvian people of the mountains.
Christopher Hill (Cachiccata Trek, Sep 2005)
I want to say how much I really really enjoyed the trip. I really felt that it exceeded my expectations. From the places that we stayed at (particularly in Cuzco) to the knowledge of our guide, and the food provided on the trail (Miguel is a really wonderful cook), everything met and in many cases exceeded my expectations on what to expect from the tour. As i had hoped, booking through Adventure Life removed a tremendous amount of the planning and work that I did not want to do myself, which tremendously increased my enjoyment and relaxation and I will certainly consider the company for future trips as well as recommend them you to other people. I also really enjoyed the unique opportunities that hiking the Cachiccata Trail, as opposed to the traditional trail, provided. Being the only ones on the trail and knowing that we were seeing places that most people did not have the opportunity to visit was really wonderful. Not to mention interacting with the people living along the trail as well as our porters was a highlight of the trip.
Neeltje Crossland (Cachiccata Trek, Aug 2005)
The country (Andes) was beyond my expectations. I loved that we were so removed from civilization for several days. The villages in the Andes were amazing. Each day brought something new and exciting. Our guide, Boris, was wonderful -- very helpful. What was most appreciated was the flexibility. He has a great sense of humor.
It was a fabulous personal journey. I am so thankful we chose this trek over the others. The adventure was beyond my expectations. Any glitches were effortlessly solved. Fabulous!
Kathleen Rollins (Cachiccata Trek + Lake Titicaca, Aug 2005)
My daughter, Mary Clare, and I were delighed with the trip and would be happy to recommend Adventure Life to others. We had the best time!
Holger, our guide for the Cacchicata Trek, was really great. He was a capable and knowledgeable climber, director of the trail crew, Inca civilization expert, local wildlife guide, and great travel companion. Our trail crew members were all from the local area, so we were hiking through their home turf.
When we went to Machu Picchu, Holger knew the site thoroughly, since he had worked on restoration efforts there for over a year. It was like having our own private archaeologist as a guide. Put a star next to his name. Any client would be lucky to travel with him.
Christine McCarthy (Cachiccata Trek, Jul 2005)
This trip was an amazing experience. The crew was excellent. The food was terrific.
Mary Kuopus (Cachiccata Trek, May 2005)
We felt so privileged to hike the Cachiccata Trail. The people, the vistas, the ruins and the beauty of the culture made for an experience that I'll never forget.
I went to Peru thinking that the ruins at Machu Picchu would be the highlight of my trip. However, as it turns out, the smiles of the children on the Cachiccata Trail were priceless. We brought pencils, sharpeners, and crayons to pass out. One pencil and a few crayons brought heaps of happiness to the kids. That was special.
Also we brought hats (made by the 5th grade students at Pueblo Elementary in Scottsdale) to the kids at Mantay as well as some school supplies. Again, the smiles and happiness of these kids was a delight.
I cannot tell you enough about how our guide, Boris, "made" this trip come to life! He was superb! He offered us so much about the history of Peru and also about the modern-day people and how they live and work. He was there for us at every step - pushing us to learn more and guiding us through some tough hikes. I cannot say enough about him!
Kendra Gonnerman (Cachiccata Trek, May 2005)
I'm so happy that we chose the Cachiccata Trail. I would rate this trip as an A+, and I can't think of anything I would change. We were able to really see the true side of the Peruvian people. We brought supplies for the children and along the way we gave out crayons and pencils. The smiles on the faces of the children said it all! The Peruvian people were beautiful and kind. It is hard to explain the breathtaking views that we saw.
I want to thank everyone with Adventure Life, but especially our guide, Boris. He was so knowledgeable and patient, and he made our trip truly memorable. I really feel that all of us had a wonderful time, thanks to him! He always made sure we were happy, safe, and getting everything that we wanted from the trip.

Our guide, Richard was amazing, as well as his assistant, Luis. He was so focused on having us enjoy the trip that he wouldn't let us do any work! The food was great, with a wide variety. I really appreciated Antonio's creativity when creating our vegetarian meals. The trip was excellent -- just as good or better than my previous Adventure Life trip to Belize. I will definitely book my next South American adventure with you!
Mandy Watson (Cordillera Blanca Trek, Jul 2005)
The tour was excellent. Enjoyed the first couple of days in Huaraz and the excursions to help acclimatize. The actual trek was amazing - stunning scenery, enormous glacial peaks towering over you at every turn and a billion stars lighting up the sky at night. The hiking was tough at time, but much easier than I'd imagined on the whole (a lot more valleys and fewer passes than I'd anticipated). Highly recommend the trip.
Sara Aloe-Pratt (Cordillera Blanca Trek, Jul 2005)
This was an amazing trip. The compnay, scenery, food, environment, and accommodations exceeded my expectations. Upon our arrival to Huaraz, the guides wisely helped us to acclimatize to the new elevation with a pleasant walk to view the entire city of Huaraz. This left plenty of time to do a little local shopping and cultural sightseeing around town. The day before our trek, we escaped to hike a glacier high in the Andes which provided even more conditioning for our excursion ahead and incredible mountain views. The time spent in Huaraz also allowed us to explore some great little restaurants and open outdoor cafes.
The Cordillera Blanca Trek was extraordinary. The hikes and fresh sair felt great to our systems. Each daily hike, campsite, vista was special and different. After a day on the trails, there was time to relax and enjoy the scenery and good company of the guides and fellow trekkers. We had delicious meals prepared for us daily. Our cook was generous and accommodating to the various dietary needs of the group. The final day was punctuated by hiking to the most beautiful lake I had ever seen...such a treasure, such a gift!
All of the extraordinary landscape and culture was matched by the witty personalities, knowledge, and sense of humor of our two guides Richard Hidalgo and Luis Amador. This is certainly an adventure I will not ... Read All

Earlier this year, my son and I decided that we would like to take a tour to Central or South America. After much research, we settled on the Inca Pathways Tour. And, we were very glad that we did. What an adventure! Our guide, Vidal, was just excellent. He was patient and very knowledgeable. By the end of the trip, we considered him a good friend. I wanted this trip to be a special experience for my son and I. It met and exceeded all of our expectations. I would definitely recommend Adventure Life to anyone who wants to see the local culture up close and personal.
Monica Marquez (Inca Pathways, Sep 2007)
The 14-day Inca Trail tour was truly outstanding, in large part because of our guide, Marco Palomino, about whom I cannot say enough good things. My partner and I have traveled to several places in the world on our own but had never done an organized tour, so we were a little concerned that it would feel constrained. Instead, we were delighted with our wonderful small group (6), and Marco was simply amazing with the breadth of his knowledge and his passion for his country and its culture and history. He was sensitive to each person's individual needs throughout the trip, and his enthusiasm and sense of humor was infectious. I was impressed with how much we saw and experienced, and even more amazed by how much we learned along the way.
Dena and Robert Gonsalves (Inca Pathways, Jul 2007)
Adventure Life was excellent with pre-departure support and tailoring our schedule when we wanted to leave two weeks early. The tour leaders were great and the porters on the Inca trail were amazing and very personable. Our guide Vidal was so personable, knowledgeable, and overall fun. He really made the whole experience. A+++ for Vidal! We were amazed by the diversity and presentation of our meals. It was a great trip and even more than we'd expected.
Brenda Dietrich (Inca Pathways, May 2007)
I have never been on an organized tour before so initially I was hesitant. The staff was very helpful in answering my questions, which diminished much of stress of the unknown. Everyone we met from Adventure Life in Peru was professional, friendly, helpful, and nice.
Our guide was excellent. He shared information in a way that demonstrated his passion and skills as a teacher. He was more than a guide; he was always professional and encouraged questions and discussion. Not experiencing an organized tour previously it was difficult to imagine anyone being better.
Taiga Marthens (Inca Pathways 14 Days, Oct 2006)
The pre-departure support from Adventure Life was great-everything was lined out. The accommodations were excellent and Vidal, my tour guide, made the trip so special and authentic. Overall, this tour was incredible and soooo educational! This trip definitely exceeded my expectations.
Chuck & Ann Mathewson (Inca Pathways, Oct 2006)
Thank you. We had the adventure of a lifetime. Vidal was wonderful. He not only was our Papa, he took care of all the people with problems on the trail. There was a girl from Australia who sprained her knee. Vidal had a knee brace that he just gave her. There was another girl from Australia that spent the whole time with our group because she said she felt like she belonged with us.
The porters, led by Miguel, were the greatest. You really have put together quite a crew in Peru. The girl in Lima was on top of everything. She even called us in Cusco to make sure everything was OK. The directions she gave us in Lima were perfect.
Thank you all--the crew in Montana and the crew in Peru!
Elinor Petusky (Inca Pathways, May 2006)
Everything went off like clockwork and everyone took great care of us. Our guide was great - knowledgeable, caring, competent, enthusiastic and good company.
Puno, Cusco and the Inca Trail are like stepping back in time. Getting to know the people, the culture and the history was wonderful. To see the Sacred Valley of the Incas - a fertile farm area where everything is done by hand and the irrigation systems date back to the Incas - was quite amazing. The ruins are spectacular, but rubbing shoulders with people in the markets and in towns like Cusco, Puno and Aguas Calientes was the best part.
Thank you for organizing such a wonderful and carefree adventure for me and my friends. We will talk about it for years to come!
John and Regina Mangum (Inca Pathways, May 2006)
This was the adventure of a lifetime - simply an unforgettable experience! Our guide, especially, was incredible. He was friendly, extremely helpful, smart, funny, and had an impact on the entire trip. Without him, our Peru experience would have been sharply diminished. He was not only a guide, but also a friend. We have met few people like him in our lives, and we were impressed by his enthusiasm, dedication, and his obvious pride in both his country and his heritage.
Cristine Jewett (Inca Pathways, Apr 2006)
I was extremely impressed! The Peruvian people are very proud of their country and made all of our tours and excursions interesting. The local crew was amazing! Our guide was great and made us feel at home and opened himself up to share his family and how they live their day-to-day lives.
Alexandra and Mark Kaplin (Inca Pathways, Apr 2006)
We fell in love with Peru. It was the people, food and ruins... but having our guide's local experience and perspective was the icing on the cake. His spontaneity was key too - we cooked our meals in a restaurant that we really liked, and we stopped to give local kids a ride on our way to some ruins. This experience gave us real insight into their lives. This was the best vacation we've ever had!!
Ann Russell (Inca Pathways, Jan 2006)
What I look for in a trip to a place like Peru is a sense of safety, a sense that I am welcome, and an experience so unique that I am taken away from my concerns and worries "back home". Your tour gave me all of that. Today, as I write this, I am actually feeling "homesick" for the Andes! You are terrific!
Janie LaBree (Inca Pathways, Jan 2006)
I can't say enough about this experience. It was the hardest thing that I have ever done, but also one of the best trips I have ever taken. While it was a real test of my strength and endurance, it was also enlightening, fun, and a real bonding experience.
To those who feel adventuresome and reasonable fit - I highly recommend this trek. If I had unlimited time and money, and there weren't so many other places to go, I would repeat this trip in a heartbeat! Thank you Adventure Life for the experience of a lifetime. I feel very fortunate to have done this.
Tracy Walton (Inca Pathways, Sep 2005)
You did it brilliantly. Organisation was brilliant, coaches turned up when they should, clean and comfortable hotels.
My guide, Vidal, was great, laid back in appearance but I know how hard a job this is and that he must put in incredible effort to make it seem so easy and work like clockwork. He was so enthusiastic, and especially proud of Cuzco you could not help but get caught up in his pride of the city. But he was honest, not glossing over issues what were difficult, but always sensitive to cultural differences.
Ed and Matthew Kenreich (Inca Pathways, Jul 2005)
This was one of the best trips of my life. We had all the advantages of an organized group, yet the freedom to do whatever we wanted to do. The guides and staff were amazing people. I would put the porters up there with Lance Armstrong! I will definitely go with Adventure Life again to South America.
Mike Rossell (Inca Pathways, Jun 2005)
I had never visited South America before, so I wasn't sure what to expect! Likewise, I hadn't realized how much there would be to see and experience. It was very helpful that our guide was a Cusco local - it was so nice to have this local knowledge. On other holidays the tour guide has often been an enthusiastic European who quotes from guidebooks, so this was a welcome change! The best part of the holiday for me was probably the Puno/Lake Titcaca area.
Maria Maurer (Inca Pathways, Oct 2004)
Excellent. David was friendly and knowledgeable~ especially regarding the history of Peru and Incas. Without his personal knowledge, this trip would not have been as wonderful. He was always willing to answer questions and helpful with whatever we needed.
The food in Peru was excellent! I can't believe how excellent the food was on our trek- you would never know we were camping and not in an excellent restaurant. David also knew very good restaurants. Excellent (tour overall)! I would definitely recommend this trip and tour company to others.
Wendy Qvast (Inca Pathways, May 2004)
Very, very impressed on the coordination efforts! Marco was superb. The BEST! I couldn't have asked for a better leader...Cook was excellent! Porters awesome!...Thank you for creating such an easy, wonderful travel experience! I learned more and saw more than I ever expected, mostly due to the leadership of Marco, who is the most dedicated, true, guide I've ever met!
William Shaikin (Inca Pathways, May 2004)
The food on the trek was better than just about every restaurant meal I had in Peru. Seriously. It was amazing...Special thanks to our guide, Marco Palomino. In addition to the usual information and friendship he provided, he went over and above his job requirements.
Neil Van Steenbergen (Inca Pathways+ Manu Biosphere+ Nazca, May 2004)
I got back from my 25 days in Peru just a week ago. My enthusiasm level for you and your help was high before I left, it was high during the trip and it continues to be high. I am so happy about my trip and about all that you did to make it happen.
I continue recommending you. Before I left, I asked you to send a catalog to two friends. Please send one to a third friend, you can use my name if you wish.
Back to the trip, I keep thinking I’ll forget something I want to tell you… I am very grateful for your pre-trip help and guidance and handholding. It was a pleasure to talk with folks who were not only knowledgeable and had been in Peru but who also seemed to be genuinely interested in me and care about me and my dreams. Thank you.
I liked the three separate parts of my trip: the Nazca extension was on my own (with support as needed), the Inca Pathways with a group, and Manu alone. It gave me a chance to experience Peru singly and in a group and that was a good balance. Entering solo and leaving solo also gave me a chance to feel comfortable at first with Peru and to leave with a chance to slow down and relax in Manu after the trail. It worked beautifully.
My arrival in Lima was about an hour late at midnight. I walked past the first line of taxis and got one from the second line quickly for $12 dollars, a somewhat broken down taxi ... Read All

Our local guide, Vidal, was amazing! Knowledgeable, flexible, and attentive...The trip was everything we had hoped for and much more! We learned so much about Peru today and the Incan and pre-Incan cultures. The pride and enthusiasm Vidal showed for his home and its history were contagious. We made new friends in our tour group and shared incredible experiences.
Diane Takvorian and Bob Bray (Inca Pathways, Aug 2004)
We wanted to let you know that this trip was wonderful in every way. We have already referred 4 or 5 people to Adventure Life and I hope they become clients as we have wholeheartedly recommended AL. We're not "tour" people and are pretty independent travelers so we were a bit skeptical about taking this tour. While there were a few moments of "too much togetherness" overall the tour was excellent. The size of the tour group was perfect, the tour leader, food, crew, lodging and site all exceeded our expectations. Peru and particularly the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu have been travel goals for a very long time and we're very pleased that we were able to make the journey with Adventure Life. As Marco said after our day in Machu Picchu - "you're no longer pilgrims, you're messengers." Trust me, we've been spreading the word! I'm sure you've heard this a zillion times before, but our tour leader, Marco Palomino, was absolutely incredible. I can't imagine anyone who could have done a better job and I must give him 90% of the credit for making our journey a 'once-in-a-lifetime' adventure. Marco's knowledge of Peru's geography, culture, history, and ecology was comprehensive and he was able to share information in an accessible and interesting way at every opportunity. Marco's skills as a teacher, manager and crisis-intervener were all used on our trip and he was ... Read All

We appreciate the intimate exposure to the culture - the stay with a family at Amontani Island, and the personal introduction to the porters, the reverence for the Inka culture displayed by the guides. They opened us up to the spiritual qualities of the sacred sights.
Beth and John Daynes (Inca Pathways, Aug 2004)
Every bit of it was absolutely wonderful. We can't think of a thing we would change or want different. Just to stay longer and go back! We have wanted to go to Machu Picchu for a long time and this trip was everything we hoped it to be. Excellent guides and accommodations - our group was terrific and we became friends on a journey together. WOW! Thank you.
Lisa Luptowitz (Inca Pathways+Nasca+Paracas extensions, Sep 2004)
Very good. We really enjoyed it, loosing track of individual days, and wishing we didn't have to go home. I'm adding Peru to my list of favorite countries to visit again someday.
Terry Magaram (Inca Pathways, Oct 2004)
Peru is wonderful and Marco, and company, enriched the whole experience tremendously. Thanks you for providing me with such a rich and complex experience.
Joshua Dubey (Inca Pathways, Oct 2004)
Marco was fantastic. He was awesome in all regards. The food on the trek was better than half the restaurants we visited. Awesome! Trip was excellent. I can't wait to visit South America again. I wish my group had been closer to my age (most were a bit older). I don't know if that is something you can manage or not, but it might be something to consider. Otherwise, fabulous. Oh, I'd also stress to people that they will be going to altitude almost immediately. I think we all suffered from altitude effect quite a bit.
Gene Shannon (Inca Pathways, Nov 2003)
It was beyond my expectations.... I was blown away by the quality of the guide (Marco) and the sub guide...I polled my group- seven of us- educated and outspoken- no complaints! Go figure!
Vinnie Biberdorf (Inca Pathways, Apr 2003)
First class! As you know, Williams was our guide in Peru. As a guide and as a person, he is outstanding. He is knowledgeable about the history, the culture, the flora and fauna fare beyond what the average guides are expected to know. I had been to Machu Picchu and Cusco four years ago. I learned much, much more from Williams...Williams experience shows in all that he does. He obviously loves his job. He made our trip the trip of a lifetime. None of us will ever forget him. I recommend him highly for all groups but most particularly for older people. He has an ability to relate to all. Thanks to all of you at Adventure Life for all your help and the type of company that you run.
Alice Howell (Inca Pathways, Apr 2003)
Williams Davalos is an excellent guide- friendly, great sense of humor, caring, and very knowledgeable about Inca culture, local culture, botany, wildlife, etc. All local guides, cooks, and porters were terrific- good natured, polite, helpful, and very interactive. Food on the Inca Trail and with our family on Isla Amantani was excellent and meal accommodations on the trail were well beyond my expectations. Wonderful tour!
Linda and Harry Fegley (Inca Pathways + Galapagos, Apr 2003)
It was 10 on a 10 point scale. We have worked with much bigger companies and were never treated this well by everyone. When we started to make our arrangements, we had a lot of questions and a lot of issues to work around as we were adding two of your trips on top of our humanitarian work trip to Bolivia. The help from the Montana staff was always very prompt, complete, and pleasant. The staff made some suggestions, but we never felt any pressure to take the suggestions. The suggestion of going to the countryside while in Quito was one idea. We took it and the stay in the hacienda was fantastic. We wanted ideas about hotels in La Paz. The Paris Hotel on Easter weekend was a great experience. We even got to see the President of Bolivia twice and went to mass with him. Well, we stood 25" from where he was sitting. All along the way, we were treated like we were someone special...We truly have no suggestions for improvement. If and when we go to SA again, Adventure Life will be our first and only choice.
Lisa Seglem (Inca Pathways, May 2003)
It was my first trip to South America, and I just had the time of my life !! Everything was absolutely perfectly organized by your company. I have been through almost 30 countries both on my own and with various tour companies. This was the best organized tour I have ever taken; especially when you consider how difficult it is to have things run punctual in certain countries. The whole tour seemed to flow very well, leaving us just the right amount of time in each place. Not one tour that I have taken managed to plan this correctly. Our guide Ayul was excellent. His enthusiasm about his country and dedication to his career was very much appreciated by the entire group. This was all around a terrific experience; I can hardly wait to return to another South American country with your tour company! Thank you.
Lester and Lena Sapitula (Inca Pathways, May 2003)
We loved our accommodations throughout the tour. The rooms were very clean and warm. The people were extremely helpful, friendly, and patient. ..We lovel Ayul (tour leader). He has such enthusiasm and passion for his country and especially for his city, Cusco. He is very intelligent and knowledgeable and has such a caring spirit and wonderful sense of humor. The local crew involved in the tour was great. Everyone we met was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. In particular, the porters and the cook during the hike were amazing. They were also extremely friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, although at times the portions were too big. While we were on the hike, we certainly did not feel like we were "roughing it" when it came to the food. We were definitely spoiled with the quality of the food. The overall tour was amazing and wonderful. It was one of our most memorable experiences we have had... Our original reason for taking this tour was to hike to Machu Picchu. But the additional experiences we had, such as spending an overnight with the family on Amantani, visiting the floating islands of Uros, or hiking Huayna Picchu, were simply amazing. Everything was so well coordinated that we were able to focus on simply having a good time. And we cannot say enough about Ayul. We were extremely fortunate to have him as our trip leader.
Howard Synenberg and Family (Inca Pathways, Aug 2003)
Ayul Acuna is a true professional whose knowledge, enthusiasm, and expertise in his culture is contagious. A wonderful trip leader who made the trip great...The trip was brilliant.
Robert and Kathy England (Inca Pathways, Aug 2003)
Vidal is one of the best guides we've ever had, and we've traveled a lot. He is knowledgeable and very good with people. He is also flexible. A great asset. All the local crew were incredibly hard-working, supportive and friendly. Food was plentiful and very good. We really found this to be an excellent trip. Thanks so much...We really appreciated the support that made it possible for us to accomplish a challenging trip. Another thing I really appreciated was that this gave us a better chance than most to interact with local people, rather than to travel in our little tourist bubble. Vidal is very engaging and he sought out local people in conversation, even though he didn't personally know them, and got them to explain to us things they were doing. This part of the world is extremely scenic and local life is very colorful, so it is a really good place to visit. Attending a dance on Amanti or riding a bus with local people, including school children, was a much more involved way to experience the area...I highly recommend this experience.
Mary Beth Hill (Inca Pathways, Oct 2003)
David- he was just great!!! Would highly recommend David for his knowledge, tolerance, and personal attitude. Wow!- just an overall pleasant experience. The Inca trail staff was unbelievable.. (Food was) too good- I did not lose the weight I hoped I would after the 4 day hike. The restaurants David recommended were excellent and the trail food superb. I never needed to eat the snacks I brought because we were fed so well at breakfast, lunch, teatime, dinner. FANTASTIC!!
Lauren Hill (Inca Pathways, Oct 2003)
David (tour leader) did a great job. His knowledge of his country and especially Cusco was fantastic. The porters and cooks were amazing. The hard work they did was greatly appreciated. The quality and quantity of food was great. This trip was great. So happy to have found Adventure Life's web-site. I would definitely recommend this trip to others.
Yuling Chang (Inca Pathways, Mar 2002)
Marco, our guide- Excellent. He's proud of his culture and country and his enthusiasm is contagious. He has excellent people management skills. Henry at Puno and the porters and cook were also excellent and have high standards- very professional. The food on the trail was just incredible. Too good to be true! The professionalism and sincerity of all people involved made the trip just wonderful.
John and Margaret Haggerty (Inca Pathways, May 2002)
Williams Davalos was a fantastic trip leader. He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Peru and its culture, both modern and ancient. We had a great time with him on and off the trail. The food was uniformly good and plentiful on the trail... I never felt a need for any extra powerbars, etc. In town, Williams always picked excellent restaurants and suggestions he made about local foods to try were always fabulous. He took us to one ceviche restaurant off the beaten path in Cuzco that was unbelievably good. Overall the trip was the best I could have imagined.
Laura and Arch Brown (Inca Pathways... excerpts from a 2 page letter, Jun 2002)
Arch's and my recent trip to Peru with Adventure Life was one of the best "adventure trips" we have ever taken...our weather was terrific, our MOST WONDERFUL guide Vidal Jaquehua Callo was perfect and our chosen itinerary could not have been better planned....Vidal was a wealth of information with regard to both the Incan civilization and Spanish history. He is clearly proud of his culture and helped us understand both, with continual insights on the people and culture. Fascinating! And then the hike... what an amazing trek--- beauty, history, physical challenges, just the best. Again, Vidal proved himself to be thoughtful, perceptive, interesting, and fun. We cannot imagine a better or nicer companion for our trip! Than you, Adventure Life, for an absolutely outstanding trip. EVERYTHING you controlled was PERFECT. We especially appreciated hearing from Vidal how well you treat your employees. Please give us a call so that we might start planning our next South American adventure!
Jeff Vansant (Inca Pathways + Cock of the Rock Amazon Extension, Sep 2002)
Accommodations were excellent and always strategically located to provide access to local community. The guides were all excellent. The trip to Cock of the Rock Lodge was outstanding. It is a beautifully located lodge and I saw many other birds in addition to the Cock of the Rock...I hope I can return to Peru. The people and sites were all outstanding.
Beth Thompson (Inca Pathways, May 2001)
I was surprised at the quality of the food!…Good time, good people and I am ready to go back.
Dennis and Meg Douglas (Inca Pathways, May 2001)
A great holiday adventure- we really enjoyed it! It was reassuring to be able to have so many questions answered in advance...I did not imagine there would be so much to see and do- such beautiful cities and sites, and so few problems!

Marco was amazing! Seriously one of the best parts of the trip. He was never pushy, had great ideas about what to do, good info, and was very personable. The guides, porters, and cook on the hike were outgoing and helpful. We had a great time!
Edda Arndal (Inca Pathways, Jul 2001)
Just amazing. I am totally entranced by Peru; the land, culture and people. Something clicked with me. It's one of the happiest places I have visited. (of the hotels) Excellent exceptionally friendly staff. I loved the hotel in Puno. The hotel in Cusco, was excellent.
Emmalee Smith (Inca Pathways... excerpts from a letter, Jul 2001)
Marco is truly passionate about his job. We have not had a better tour guide in our years of traveling. Marco does not just show you the sights; he tries to help you understand the people, their history, culture, and philosophy...Marco went out of his way to show us many behind the scenes types of places. He is a proud Andean and a gifted local area expert and tour guide. His enthusiasm, knowledge, and energy made this trip exceptional!
Rossina and Marissa Barrera (Inca Pathways, Oct 2001)
What a wonderful trip! We learned quite a bit about the culture. Marco is a great guide and he knows how to judge travelers capabilities!! Food was VERY good, at the end of each hiking day you couldn't ask for anything better.

Colin, my Adventure Life associate saved me from a booking error and from missing my flight home! Vidal, our local guide, was amazing! He is knowledgeable about the history of various sites and very supportive of everyone. I would call him the "Gold Standard" of Guides!! We had the best porters, crew, and cooks you could ask for.
Pam and Arthur Cayer (Incas and Rainforest, May 2006)
Our guide was Awesome! Wonderful! He loves to share his culture and loves to educate. We would definitely like to take another trip with you.

I typically travel solo, but after this trip I may never plan again! You made everything simple and painless.
Shila Fisher (Incas and Rainforest, Dec 2005)
All Peruvians that we met - not just our support staff - were friendly, helpful, polite, accommodating and loving. Everyone was amazing! This tour was life-changing, educational, fun, amazing! I didn't want to come home.
Dirk and Melanie Colpaart (Incas and Rainforest, Sep 2005)
The porters on the Inca Trail were amazing and supportive. Our host family on the Island of Ahmantani was just great. The food at the hotels and on the trek was better than expected. Very nicely done. Vidal (our guide) also introduced us to great restaurants. We loved our trip. Thank you! We will recommend your firm to our friends.
Donna Duffy (Incas and Rainforest, Jul 2005)
Our guide, Vidal, was incredible - knowledgeable, great fun and really attentive to everyone's needs. Adventure Life did a fabulous job organizing a very detailed tour - keeping the group small (9 people) was a BIG plus. Thanks for a memorable trip.
Paula Vaux (Incas and Rainforest, Sep 2005)
This trip was everything I expected and more! I had high expectations since I'd been wanting to hike the Inca trail for quite a long time. I'd prepared myself for a bit of a let-down because my expectations were so high, but as high as they were, the reality easily exceeded them in great part due to our guide, who was absolutely excellent! His knowledge and enthusiasm were incredible, and his knowledge and love for his culture and history were evident. I'm certain that I wouldn't have had as enjoyable an experience with a less knowledgeable guide. Our guide always ensured that we were well prepared for the next activity, and he was extremely good at addressing any concerns that people in the group had. I also very much appreciated his flexibility with our group in terms of allowing us to make some choices about how to spend some of our time.
I would easily recommend Adventure Life to anyone looking to visit and experience Peru and South America. I was very impressed by the quality of our guides and by how incredibly well organized everything was. It was wonderful not to have to worry about anything during the tour -- everything seemed to just happen magically, even though I suspect that our guide worked very hard behind the scenes to ensure that all went off without a hitch.
John and Maureen McColligan (Incas and Rainforest, May 2004)
Marco (guide) was excellent. Everyone was great. Food on the trek was excellent.
Betty Morrell (Incas and Rainforest, Jun 2004)
Marco Palomino's passion for his country and his work was incredible and his enthusiasm for life and the beauty that surrounded us was contagious. All 10 porters were friendly, helpful, maintained sense of humor and were hardworking. Campside food incredibly good- was gourmet in both presentation and taste...This was a glorious trip of a lifetime that provided us a personal sense of accomplishment...[Marco's] interpersonal skills as well as his outstanding knowledge of Peru, its history, and culture were incredible. He more than earned his salary for a job well done and for going above and beyond to meet the needs of those in his group. Marco set the bar quite high for future trip leaders to measure up to!
Ellen O' Neal (Incas and Rainforest, Jun 2004)
Marco Palomino [tour leader] was outstanding. His passion for his culture and heritage was neat- helpful and caring- everyone knows him. I had an emergency on the trail and Marco was most helpful and reassuring. [Tour overall was] outstanding - would recommend.
Melvin Mathias (Incas and Rainforest, Jun 2004)
Marco, our trip guide, was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and personable. When on the trail he went the extra step to ensure we got the best. Marco also knew who could and could not hike the trail safely. For those who could not, he handled the situation with humility and dignity. While on the trail, he helped those needing help even when they were a part of other groups. One could see he really cared about others as well as imparting his vast knowledge. He truly is a great guide.
Liam Salter (Incas and Rainforest, Jul 2004)
Excellent [food]! They have spoiled me for camping without a chef...I very much enjoyed my time in Peru and felt very well taken care of. You have done a wonderful job choosing good, trustworthy people to have work for you. Peru is a marvelous and diverse place.

I usually travel individually. Aprehensive about the tour group thing. This was great!
Lillian Schultz (Incas and Rainforest, Jan 2003)
It was one of best trips we’ve ever taken! We had never taken a “tour” trip before. We are avid travelers and always venture off on our own. We usually enjoy exploring things independently, rather than in a group setting… We felt we would feel safer having guides in Peru and on the Inca Trail. After some extensive research on the Internet, I chose Adventure Life as our tour company… I took 18 rolls of film because everything I saw was so beautiful or interesting or unique that I wanted to capture it on film. Peru is such a beautiful country and so diverse geographically. You have the desert and beautiful beaches on the coast, the magnificent Andes Mountains in the middle of the country and the jungle covering the interior part of the country. The highlights of our trip were certainly the homestay with the family on Amantani Island, hiking the Inca Trail and seeing Machu Picchu with our own eyes! Our guide, cook and porters were wonderful!
Kelly Brennan (Incas and Rainforest, Jul 2003)
Marco (tour leader) was absolutely phenomenal. I truly learned more than I ever expected and enjoyed it! I tell those who ask that my head felt 10 times bigger upon my return- I gained so much experience and knowledge and came in contact with so many quality people- it was really moving.
Katherine Shurtz (Incas and Rainforest, Jul 2003)
Marco was incredible, a great guide, organized, knowledgeable, and a wonderful person! ...The food was excellent! Mario is an incredible cook. I was amazed at what he was able to create in a primative camping kitchen. I'll be e-mailing him for recipes...The experiences visiting Amantani Island and the Inca Trail both went far beyond my expectations. I loved the family visit. The people on Amantani were so sweet and I had a wonderful time playing with the kids. In Cusco and the whole Inca Trail, I was constantly impressed with Marco's incredible knowledge of the history, culture, religion, and his openness in sharing his beliefs with us. He really went above and beyond to provide us with a once in a lifetime experience.
George Maringer (Incas and Rainforest - Excerpts from 3 page letter, Jul 2003)
Your expertise and friendliness sets a level by which others shall be judged. If it was not for your firsthand knowledge and your quick responses to my seemingly never ending questions, I am doubtful that this trip would have taken place at all. My anticipations and expectations of this trip were more than fully realized. The group of ten individuals quickly turned into a team of ten. The makeup of this group allowed all of us to be ourselves and yet be an integral part of a team. And I guess I really should call it a team of 11. Marco Palomino, our intrepid guide, became a traveler with us. He showed us the sights and inspired us with his historical talks. He became a talking beacon able to show us the real Peru. On the trail he showed patience and perserverance, he helped those who needed it and counseled those who were in anguish..All in the entire trip gave my everything I had wanted and expected plus more. It introduced me to a new country, its history, and its people. I was taken back to the time before Incas. I was shown the importance of the sun god and I felt it firsthand when the sun rose and warmed the chilled camp. The insights I gained will stay with me forever...I give your company and its Montana staff a 10/10. I was thrilled with the trip and could not have asked for better pre-departure and trip service. I will highly recommend your company to anyone I meet interested in embarking on a journey like this. From planning through departure, the trip logistics were seamless and pleasant. I feel like I not only saw several different areas of Peru but learned about some of the incredible ancient and modern cultures. And, on top of it all, I made some wonderful new friends. Our main tour guide, Marco Palomino, did a remarkable job fostering a sense of camaraderie among our group and teaching us about his homeland, assisting when various individuals needed motivation or with travel plans after the Adventure Life trip and overall ensuring that we had an unforgettable experience by taking advantage of, or planning, special "extras" along the trip. For example, and this is by no means comprehensive, on Day 2 of the hike, in rather inclement weather, when we were all cold, wet, and tired, he radioed to the porters to have them bring us hot tea on the trail...playing music on a recorder that reverberated throughout the canyon and lent a sense of history and spirituality to the moment; bringing wine along on the last day of the trail to toast our arrival at Machu Picchu. This list could go on...
Anthony Tafeen (Incas and Rainforest, May 2002)
Perfect! Williams, our guide, was always on time and gave that extra something you can't imagine. He was knowledgable, passionate for his country and the environment. We all were very lucky to have Williams...Local cooks and porters were excellent...food on the Inca Trail was better than some restaurants...Our guide in the ecolodge was very, very knowledgeable and thorough! The 17 days were perfect.
Margaret Kadziolka (Incas and Rainforest, May 2002)
I had never taken a "tour" trip before and was somewhat hesistant about it. I was very surprised!! The entire trip was fabulous and very adventurous, especially the Inca Trail. The highlight of the trip was the stay on Amantani Island with the local families... Hiking the Inca Trail was another unforgettable experience- The food was excellent and plentiful and the choice of restaurants was safe and exotic. Williams Davalos, our tour guide, was great. I can't say enough positive words about him- passionate about life and his culture, knowledgeable about history, botany, archaeology, and culture, skilled trip leader, multilingual, concerned about our various needs and desires. The trip would not be the same without him. He set new standards for guides! Thank you for our wonderful trip Adventure Life and Williams Davlos.
Petra Hoette and Matt Niednagel (Incas and Rainforest, Jul 2002)
My wife Petra and I had always researched and organized our own travel in the past, so when we opted, out of last-minute necessity, for a guided tour with Adventure Life, we didn't now quite what to expect. Quite frankly, we're independent types who have always recoiled in horror at those busloads of tourists trudging lemming-like behind an oversized ping-pong paddle inscribed with "Clueless Hordes, Follow Me!" That said, we had high hopes that Adventure Life's flavor of Peruvian "ecotourism" would provide an altnerative to ugly mass-tourism. Thankfully it did! In the case of our Incas and Rainforest tour, "ecotourism" meant traveling in a small group of 4 and staying in charming and locally-owned accommodations, while eating delicious local fare thoughtfully prepared with gringo-safe ingredients. Our guide for the Andean portion of the trip, Marco Palomino, spoke superb English, Spanish, and Quechua (the indigenous language of the region) and was blessed with the sort of people skills which allowed him to navigate our little group effortlessly whether in the most rustic or cosmopolitan of settings...Staying with a local family on Amantani island, sipping hot muna tea, riding a "cholo taxi" pedicab in Puno, watching the moon rise over Cusco from our hotel, the drive into the Sacred Valley, the panorama from atop "Dead Woman's Pass" sunset at Machu Picchu ... Our trip was awesome; the country is fascinating, the organisation was perfect, the hotels more than adequate; everything was first class! You are doing a great job! It has to be said that your greatest asset in Peru is Marco Palomino(Adventure Life Tour Leader). He is a star in many ways; impressively knowledgeable, personable, efficient, in charge, attentive, very polite, respectful, and fun. In fact, he made our trip what it was and handled every difficulty with tact, precision, and care.
Josephine Lin (Incas and Rainforest, Jan 2001)
Many thanks to Brian and Adventure Life for making our trip a memorable experience!
Richard Rieger (Incas and Rainforest, Jan 2001)
In regards to rainforest part of the tour: …we totally loved it! The Lodge (EcoAmazonia) was great. There was no hot water, but who cares with those temperatures? The food good, and there were plenty of interesting excursions into the rain forest. The wildlife was just amazing, but probably the most memorable moment was when at one point in time during an excursion, it just started raining flowers. Unforgettable! I just wish I had spent more time there. I just got back…and I have already been seriously thinking about taking the trip to Ecuador myself… From what I remember, Brian (Adventure Life Founder) told me the rainforest in Ecuador is somewhat different from the on in Peru (black water rivers, river dolphins, piranha fishing etc.) but maybe even better. In any case, I am definitely going… and with Adventure Life, of course!
Janina Kojs (Incas and Rainforest - Exerpt from a 5 page letter, May 2001)
Overall, just to let you know, I'm going to be quite redundant in my rating, since I will be categoring everything as excellent. I asked many questions as you may recall, all of which I must say were answered promptly. This is one of the reasons I picked Adventure Life for my tour. I believe our whole trip was a dream and Marco was the icing on the cake. It's not often you find a tourleader so knowledgeable and captivating. Most tour guides just seem to read text and rattle off dates, which makes you feel like you're back in school. The best way to describe Marco is as one who tells a story, which allows you to visualize the past. Marco was enthusiastic, helpful and understanding throughout the trip. He definitely made the trip excellent! The Inca Trail was fantastic, especially since the weather was beautiful. The landscape is completely different from Nepal or Poland or any other place I've vistited. I remember sitting on the Runktayruy ruins just past the Dead Woman's Pass and looking at the clouds and fog move through the valley. If only I coudld stop time and stay here forever I though. Not possible, so I had to move on and see more...
Steve Lopes (Incas and Rainforest - Exerpt from a 4 page letter, Jun 2001)
I have been adventure traveling since 1977 and have never had a bad guide, but Vidal has set a new standard. He was qualified; native; trilingual; college-educated; competent in the botany, history, archaelogy, and culture of the region; and skilled as a trip leader...His admirable and enviable strength is his ability to balance the professional with the personal.Vidal chose an outstanding crew of porters to make the Inca Trail memorable, but that cook! I know hiking at altitude makes everything tast good, even things freeze-dried, but my mouth still waters for tours soups from scratch, fresh fruit and vegetable salads, and those damn fresh eggs, hand-carried up the trails.

Robyn Swanson & Brian Lepine (Machu Picchu by Train and Galapagos Category III on Eric / Letty / Flamingo, Jan 2008)
My spouse and I normally prefer independent travel to tour groups, so the Incas and Galapagos trip was an exception. But thanks to Adventure Life's excellent guides and superb accommodations, we will definitely be back for more. I really appreciated having the trip tailor-made for us, allowing us to select our own dates. We also were impressed that our trip was still a go even with only three of us. Talk about special service. That was fantastic. Plus, our guide Vidal was amazing. Thanks to everyone at Adventure Life Journeys for helping us realize some personal goals and bank some incredible memories.
Deal Family (Machu Picchu by Train and Galapagos on the Darwin, Dec 2007)
We had a once in a lifetime experience in Peru and the Galapagos! We will recommend this trip through Adventure Life to our friends!
Brian Hopkins (Islands and Incas - 7 Day Tour onboard the Seaman, Sep 2007)
This was a very well organized trip. Lots of connection that had to happen in concert that did; I had a great time!
Our guides were EXCELLENT!! Especially Vidal in Perú! He was so friendly and knowledgeable! What an great asset to the company and a tremendous ambassador to his country, and Rafael in the Galápagos was great too! Everyone was exceptional, it's hard to thank everyone, but perhaps the staff at del Prado in Cusco earn a particularly high mark as friendly and helpful. All the drivers were safe and friendly. The boat crew was very friendly, too.
This was truly an adventure; just what I was looking for. Hands on, in the water, in the mountains, with the people, learning the land - GREAT!
Suzanne Stroh (Island and Incas (Legend), Aug 2007)
I can't say enough good things about our experience in Peru. It is so culturally rich and colorful and such a physically beautiful country. Our time there was handled very smoothly. What really opened our eyes to Peru was our wonderful guide, Washington Gibaja. Actually, he was beyond wonderful! He is pleasant, knowledgeable, thoughtful, considerate, organized, flexible, sincere, and helpful. He has a lively sense of humor, shares his cultural heritage with proud enthusiasm and lives the principles of helping others every day. Washington shared many Inca traditions and stories, gave us both Quechua names, and generally put a human face on what it means to be the descendent of the Inca culture working to preserve the best of the traditional ways in these modern times. I can truly say that meeting him may prove to be life-changing as I think about the ways I might continue to be associated with the principles he shared with us! Visiting Peru with Washington as a guide made me feel that I would return in a heartbeat.
In the Galapagos portion of the tour, the food was excellent and has dining room service to match. The MV Galapagos Legend is the best-run cruise ship I have ever encountered. The ship itself is gleaming white, clean and polished, attractively and comfortably furnished. The transportation back and forth on the pangas is done with ... Read All
Oblock Family (Islands and Incas, Jun 2007)
Truly the highlight of our trip was getting to know our guide, Vidal in Cusco. We fell in love with Peru, but also felt as though our family grew to include Vidal. We were amazed how organized this trip was and we appreciate how clean and well maintained the vehicles were. The food was a great mix of local foods and some "Western" foods so our kids were always comfortable with the meals. No one got ill at anytime.
We just returned yesterday so it will take several weeks to digest all that happened, so our first impressions are what we have to offer: We all fell in love with Peru. I find it hard to accept the description of the country as "third world" because their riches are beyond measure; their culture, charm, and pride in their country is remarkable. Of course our guides fed our passion for Peru, Ludio in Lake Titicaca and especially Vidal in Cusco and Machu Picchu. Many thanks to Adventure Life. Our next trip will be with you!
Kathie Keane and Grace Becton (Islands and Incas 13-Day, Dec 2006)

Jennifer Gust and Nathan Mirocha (Islands and Incas 13-Day, Nov 2006)
This tour was the best trip we've taken thus far-hands down. We hope to return to South America someday soon. Our friends are going to hear all about our wonderful Adventure Life trip.
Sharon and Alton Mattioli (Islands and Incas 13-Day, Nov 2006)
Our guide, Marco Palomino, was a gem. His knowledge of nature, culture, and history as well as his enthusiasm for sharing these really made this trip.
Casey Kaptur (Islands and Incas -- Beluga, Oct 2006)
The Adventure Life Incas and Islands trip was excellent. Every aspect was as good or better than we had hoped. The Adventure Life contacts were always where they needed to be, pick-ups were prompt, the hotels were very nice, and the tours excellent.
I can't say enough good things about Ayul Acuna. He was a superb guide, but perhaps even more importantly, just a wonderful man who obviously took great pride in his country and his culture. He made our tour of Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Macchu Pichu a tremendous success.
Thanks for a great trip!
Beth and John Lawton (Islands and Incas, Jul 2006)
From planning through execution, you were thorough, took care of all the details, and made our trip pure pleasure!
Herbert and Veronica Stein (Islands and Incas - Millennium, May 2006)
Everything was done right! It was great not to worry about connections, taxis, etc. Our guides were fantastic! The food on the Millennium was great - we wanted to take the chef home! Our guide in Peru knew all of the best places to eat. The trip exceeded our expectations.
Cindy White (Islands and Incas - Spondylus, Mar 2006)
Everything went exactly as planned. I especially loved how quaint all the hotels were! It made our vacation so memorable. The tour was beyond our expectations! We will tell all of our friends to use your services!
Gary Hathaway (Islands and Incas (Seaman), Apr 2006)
The local guides were very informed and helpful. They allowed us the opportunity to search out our own interests. The ship's crew was great and the food was excellent. In particular the birthday celebration and cake for me was a memory that I'll cherish - how thoughtful of the crew!!
Clair and Jonson group (Islands and Incas (Eric/Letty/Flamingo) + Kapawi Lodge, Jul 2005)
The staff on the trip was great. Our transfer person in Quito even helped us by running back to get our camera that we forgot at the hotel! The tour was amazing. It was more than we expected in so many ways!
Rick and Barbara Desautels (Islands and Incas (Fragata), Dec 2005)
We had an exceptionally great trip! Our guides, both in Peru and the Galapagos, were excellent - very personable and very knowledgeable. All of the members of the crew on board the Fragata were exceptionally cheerful and helpful.
Mary Gilbert, Daria Casilli & Joann Levins (Islands and Incas (Archipel), Sep 2005)
I cannot say enough kind things about our guide, Juan Carlos, in Peru -- we never felt rushed, there was always plenty of time to do everything. He obviously took great joy in sharing his country's history with us. We enjoyed all the hotels we stayed at in Peru and in Quito. Everyone was very friendly and very helpful. The food was great in Peru and on the Archipel -- I can't recall a disappointing meal. The tour was great -- many wonderful memories.
Debbie & Gentry Jones (Islands and Incas (Samba), Oct 2005)
Our Peru leader was excellent! Our guide in Galapagos was exceptional. We got the best from both countries. This was our best vacation ever! Our days in Peru were jammed packed with activities from early am to pm. Our guide in Peru was excellent and spent every day and evening with us. he had the knowledge of a library!
The weather gods were with us at Machu Picchu when we arrived for some very good photographing and the sun came out, the next day, after a rainy night, for our hike up the mountain. Such a spiritual country -- we enjoyed every place we went and tried corn beer too! The food was excellent.
Onto Galapagos where we were met by our "Samba" tour guide. He was self taught in English and was very well educated about the Islands. Very passionate about the environment and effects of people on the Islands. I appreciated his awareness and great humor! The crew were hard working and friendly and the itinerary was the best! Thanks Adventure Life staff for a great trip of a lifetime. We will definitely return one day.
Sabrina Keisch and John Smith (Islands and Incas - Corals, Jul 2005)
The trip was a dream come true! We learned, explored, relaxed, snorkeled, climbed... It was truly wonderful! It was really more than we expected. We knew we would see amazing scenery, but what was really impressive was how the guides were able to give so much history of the people who lived in the region. The knowledge and professionalism of the guides and crew was key. The history, places, tours, and activities made this the trip of a lifetime.
The Browne Group (Islands and Incas (Beagle), Jun 2005)
Even though we were traveling to such remote places, it was as easy as travel in the U.S.! Your staff allowed our group to have no concerns for 2 weeks!!
Earl and Kathy Gipe (Islands and Incas (Archipel), Sep 2005)
Our tour was excellent - one of the very best that we've taken. Our groups were small, so we had personalized attention throughout the trip. The local guides were fabulous, and the food - especially on the yacht - was wonderful!
Frances and Robert Gillis (Islands and Incas - Fragata, May 2005)
Our trip was excellent! If we had custom made this trip, it would have been the same as what we experienced with this tour package. We were surprised at how comfortable and relaxing it was on the boat. We were also pleased with the quality of and the quaint character of the hotels. Our guide in the Galapagos was very knowledgeable and his love of nature and his work was contagious! Our Peruvian guide was also exceptional. His shared not only his knowledge of his country but also his spirit and devotion to his land and his people. He made us feel like more than just tourists! What else can we say? You provided us with the perfect blend of creature comforts, nature, and activity. We were lucky to have found you!
Courtney Jordan (Islands and Incas - Archipel, Jun 2005)
Thank you for such a great trip! Everything was very well organized and spelled out for us in the welcome packet that we received when we arrived in Lima. Our guide in Peru took care of us from the moment he picked us up at the airport to our sad good-byes. He shared as much of his country with us as he could in our short time together. He taught us not only the facts and myths about the Inca civilization, but he also showed us the wonderful people of Peru, the plants and animals found there, and what everyday life is like there. While doing this teaching, he also made sure that everyone in the group had their needs met and that they would be able to take home a positive experience. This was a fantastic trip that I will forever remember as a favorite. I would definitely consider Adventure Life for a future trip and would recommend your services to anyone thinking of going to South America.
Jennifer Nicole Miller (Islands and Incas, Dec 2004)
The tour was excellent! Peru was filled with color - from the people to the food. I especially enjoyed the markets in Cusco and Pisac. Both Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu were very spiritual places, and it was so nice to have two full days to spend at the ruins at Machu Picchu. The Galapagos is a biologist’s paradise! Our trip was, without a doubt, one of a lifetime!
Patti Stone and James Gutmann (Islands and Incas, Jan 2004)
It is so wonderful to be able to rely on someone to get you from one place to another- Everyone was grand. Marco Palomino (tour leader) deserves a big raise!! He made Peru come alive for us. His passion for his country and vast knowledge really made the trip...I only took 266 photos- And have spent hours editing. The sights were wonderous and the guides truly knew the areas and made us feel intimately involved in the culture, flora, and fauna.
Vigdis Lovo and Karen Roberts (Islands and Incas + Sacha Lodge, Mar 2004)
David- the guide in Peru- was very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Both the crew on the Galapagos cruise and staff and guides at Sacha Lodge were very good. [Overall] excellent- we've got memories for life!

We felt everyone in your organizaton was helpful and professional. We felt you offered better value than your competition and have already recommended Adv. Life to friends and a school group.

Adventure Life has changed the way we are looking to travel in the future. We plan on taking similar trips in the future.
Gregory Morrison (Islands and Incas + Sacha Lodge, Jul 2004)
Ayul in Peru was perhaps the best guide I have ever had in tours of >16 countries. He did tons of extra research and brought materials to heighten his oral presentations. Ayul was Superior!!! I understand why your company gets rave reviews. I concur.
Brad Heric and Tara Parker (Islands and Incas, Jul 2004)
A life adventure. A fantastic honeymoon. A whole new world - well, three worlds we explored and loved. Thank you for making it go so smoothly for us!
George and Mary Beth McClain (Islands and Incas, Oct 2004)
This tour was better than we ever expected! We look forward to another "adventure" with Adventure Life. What else can I say? We kept pinching ourselves to make sure we weren't dreaming. It really was a much better trip than we though it was going to be. We had a wonderful time. THANK YOU ADVENTURE LIFE!
Lisa Urness (Islands and Incas, Oct 2004)
Thank you so much for a fantastic adventure! My husband and I will never forget it! Peru was an enchanted land, both culturally and scenically. Ayul Acuna was incredibly enthusiastic and introduced us to all aspects of Peruvian culture and antiquities with such humor and charm. We have no doubt that we would have missed many fascinating places had we chosen a different tour. The Galapagos leg of our tour was great fun and very relaxing. The Fragata is a wonderful yacht and the food was excellent. We have been home less than 24 hours and I'm already planning our next trip with Adventure Life to Costa Rica - I'm not kidding!!
Susan Karpeil and Martin Stanley Karpiel (Islands and Incas, Dec 2004)
In Cusco we had the extreme pleasure of being guided by Ayul. By far the best guide we have ever had our 30 years of traveling. He was knowledgeable, but not too much, fun, exuberant, entertaining, very athletic and compassionate. We cannot say enough good things about Ayul. As I mentioned earlier, he is the best guide we've ever had (we have been to 82 countries) so I have a good basis for comparison.
Jennifer Nicole Miller (Islands and Incas, Dec 2004)
I would recommend your comany to my friends. Peru was filled with color, from the people to the food. I enjoyed the markets in Cuzco Pisac. Ollaytaytambo and Machu Picchu were very spiritual places. It was wonderful to have two full days for Machu Picchu. Galapagos is a biologists paradise. I hope to go back again with you. Our trip was, without a doubt, one of a lifetime.
Josephine Cheng (Islands and Incas, Jan 2003)
Ayul was our guide for Cusco and Machu Picchu and he was very professional, friendly, knowledgeable, warm, organized, and has a great sense of humor. My experience in Peru would have been very different had it been led by a different guide. The entire Nemo crew and the guide, Rafael, at the Galapagos was a warm and a very happy bunch. Nemo was an excellent boat and I really enjoyed by stay. The captain ran a very good ship...The tour was very well planned and organized. As a solo traveler, it's always a comfort to know someone will be waiting outside the baggage claim to pick me up. It offered the kind of flexibility I wanted- allowing both some freedom and some organized itinerary. I love nature, the ruins, the food, the culture, and the local folks. It offered a great mix of things which I all enjoy very much. I also find fellow travelers very warm, friendly, and adventurous. This is the best vacation I've had in many years and I hope to return to South America again soon!
Karen Dye (Islands and Incas, Mar 2003)
Just wanted to let you know I had a fantastic trip. The hotels you selected were great. The tour guides were excellent. Vidal in Peru was very knowledgeable and very personable... Please feel free to use me as a reference. Your organization did an excellent job. Thank you.
Laura Welsh and John Roundy (Islands and Incas, May 2003)
Ship crew was outstanding- excellent cook. Local guides were very knowledgeable and helpful....the trip flowed seamlessly from segment to segment and we were thoroughly pleased. Would definitely book thru your company again.
Stacey Bernstein and Roger Roth (Islands and Incas, May 2003)
We loved the places we stayed. They all were very nice and had a lot of character and charm... Marco was our tour leader in Cusco. He was the best! Informative, friendly, very accommodating! We loved him! I had an unbelievable time and I am once again very impressed with Adventure Life...I definitely would go on a third trip with Adventure Life. I love the way you organize the tours. It is adventurous, but you don't feel like you are completely roughing it and it is no so touristy either. It's great you get to see things you may not be able to see if you went on your own.
Gerald and Maureen Pearo (Islands and Incas, Jun 2003)
Dalmiro was fantastic- Cuzco. Andrus was excellent...I had no idea the quality of the service- we were met on time, treated professionally by every driver and guide and it really took the stress out of travel at airports. Every aspect of this trip was exciting. We never knew what to expect, great bicycle taxi rides, boats, trains, buses, vans- it was exciting and you didn't spend time worrying about connections. My wife and I would like to express our thanks for a wonderfully coordinated trip. The quality of the people you chose was fantastic. They were able to speak about the culture, customs, history, and current affairs of the country or region....Thanks again for the great organization of this trip.
Julian Ortega (Islands and Incas, Jul 2003)
My trip was beyond expectations. This was the first time everyone in the group had taken a group tour (including myself) and each person had their reservations and fears about following a guy with a flag around like a bunch of sheep. This trip was nothing like that. Everyone was extremely pleased. Excellent- Better than all expectations.
John Fowler (Islands and Incas, Jul 2003)
Our Peruvian guide, David Espejo, went well beyond the call of duty in his coordination of and enthusiasm for our tour. David is a special individual. His knowledge of the Inca culture is extremely broad, and we could tell that it came both from his formal education as well as his upbringing in the mountains surrounding Cusco. He has a passion for the history of the region, and he was able to successfully transfer that enthusiasm to the group. David also showed wonderful patience with our eight-year-old son, Phillip, and answered his questions with the same grace and seriousness that he did for any other adult in the group. In addition to his knowledge and enthusiasm, David coordinated all the details of the trip flawlessly. He knows the correct timing for each event and, although he had everything preplanned, he only fed the group just enough information about what was coming next so that we were not preoccupied with trip details. This led to a very relaxing trip with no worries. We could truly forget about the rest of the world. David is a gem.
Joseph Epstein (Islands and Incas, Aug 2003)
David Chavez (tour leader) has ruined it for all other trip leaders. No one can match his knowledge, his passion, his warmth, his spirituality, and his generosity....Excellent. I want to go back.
Walter and Rochelle Gassner (Islands and Incas, Nov 2003)
Well, we just got back from a trip of a lifetime! Thank you both for a wonderful itinerary, great hotels, great ship and fantastic tour guides. At every airport, we were met by your agent, driven to the hotels, and given tours with a first class guide. They all spoke English very well, were very well informed, and EXTREMELY pleasant!! The hotels were absolutely FIRST CLASS!!! Could not have asked for better!! Would highly recommend the trip, the hotels, the ship, and especially your company for anyone interested in Peru or Ecuador! We will be contacting you within the year for a Costa Rican trip.
Andrea Bardack and Laura Leven (Islands and Incas - excerpts from a two-page letter, Jan 2002)
We have been trying to readjust back to our daily lives after such an amazing vacation. It hasn't been easy. Thank you so much for putting together such an unbelievable and impressionable trip!...All hotels were very comfortable with gracious and accommodating staff...Our trip leaders were the key to making this such a memorable experience. We could not have asked for better guides. We can't express how much we loved Fredy Delgado...we came to consider Fredy a friend...Her (Maya, guide in Galapagos) dedication and passion to her work in preserving the islands, left a great impression on us...We have wonderful things to say about everyone. (drivers, cooks, porters)...We learned so much about the animals and unique ecosystem of the Galapagos Islands. Machu Picchu is so unique and special, there are not enough words to describe the impression it left on us. We gained a deep appreciation for the culture and for the people that live in both countries. Every detail of the trip was extremely well thought out and organized and we really appreciated the attention given to even the small details (Day excursion to Otavalo, tour of Cuzco, dinner with Milagros)...

Williams, our Peru guide, was a gem, a mine of information and passionate about his culture. Marcel (Galapagos) was a walking encyclopedia... Food in Peru was uniformly excellent and interesting. Food on ship was also surprisingly good. Possibly the most awesome trip I have taken (and I have travelled extensively).
Junelle and Bruce Brandt (Islands and Incas, Jul 2002)
Ayul (Peru guide) was outstanding- he was a highlight of the trip! The crew and tour guide (Peter) on the Dorado were informed, friendly, helpful, and humorous. [The food] was very tasty! Local foods, soups, and stews were much better than expected. No "tourista"- hooray! [The tour overall] exceeded our expectations and we were very excited about going! Thank you so much for a tour that enabled us to feel safe, well-informed, and respectful of the people and land. We are recommending Adventure Life to all our friends.
Jason Weiner and Cori Anthony (Islands and Incas, Jul 2002)
This trip was perfect. The right hotels, time in various places, and great guides. Everything was well organized and excellently done. Hotel locations were always convenient. Guides were knowledgeable and helpful. Transfers were orderly. Food was excellent. Everything was great, and at over $1,500 less than the other quotes we were given, we could not have asked for anything more.
Ruth McGuffie (Islands and Incas, Oct 2002)
Couldn't get any better. Trip leader was so knowledgeable and I loved their concern for the environment. I travel extensively and this was the best trip of all...I couldn't believe how available Betty (Quito) was. She arranged a guide and driver for us to bird watch while we were in Quito and we had a great two days birding, etc. She was terrific, friendly, and efficient!
Jacob Waddles (Islands and Incas, Jan 2001)
My biggest regret was that I only had two weeks of travel. At the end of my tours I was relaxed and happy. This trip covered a lot of ground, from hiking mountains and climbing and admiring Inca ruins to snorkeling off of coral beeches and standing on the Equator. It was great!
Randy and Glenn Brown (Islands and Incas, May 2001)
It was fantastic- Machu Picchu was a very spiritual experience thanks to our guide. Marco was excellent- best guide ever!
Maggie Llamido (Islands and Incas, May 2001)
I tried to arrange travel with another company that wasn’t able to come through for me. I called Adventure Life in last minute desperation and everything was put together with only 2 weeks notice. All was coordinated and the entire 3 weeks was well organized. I took so much video, I filled two camcorder tapes and I kept a journal in which I wrote everyday and filled! I even have a page in the back full of emails and addresses of people we met on the journey. Every one we met was friendly and enthusiastic, especially Marco, our guide in Peru and Cusco. Milagros presented us with good notes and maps and a nice farewell dinner.
Sandy Hopkins (Islands and Incas, May 2001)
We could not have had a better guide!

Christopher Nurko (Independent Testimonial - Inca Trail, Jul 2006)

Sheila Babbie (Incas and Rainforest + Nazca extension, May 2006)
I typically travel solo, but after this trip I may never plan again! You made everything simple and painless.
Elinor Petusky (Inca Pathways, May 2006)
Everything went off like clockwork and everyone took great care of us. Our guide was great - knowledgeable, caring, competent, enthusiastic and good company.
Thank you for organizing such a wonderful and carefree adventure for me and my friends. We will talk about it for years to come!
