Day 1 Puerto Montt to Puerto Varas lodge

After meeting our guide at the airport in Puerto Montt, we drive to Puerto Varas, a beautiful town bordering Lake Llanquihue - a quick 15 minutes away. As we drive, keep an eye out for the magnificent Osorno Volcano, a breathtaking view you can not miss. In the early twentieth century, Puerto Varas experienced significant German immigration and has a very unique architecture to show for it. After we arrive at the hotel, we will have a few free hours to check-in and have some lunch before the afternoon excursions.  The guide will pick us up for a tour of the nearby Frutillar village. We will visit the local museum and we might also get the opportunity to experience tea time, tasting local unique cakes and other popular desserts.

Day 2 Exploring Alerce Andino National Park (B,L) lodge

Today we will visit an incredible reserve named after the millenary Alerce tree, which is undoubtedly one of the most interesting tree species of Chile. In this Park some alerces are older than 3,000 years old! We initiate our drive taking “Los Colonos” route heading to Puerto Montt city, passing by the small town with the same name “Alerce” and then connect with the Carretera Austral (Southern Highway). This famous road is surrounded by abundant fauna, flora, and the beautiful Andean Cordillera whose mountains are lower in these latitudes. Along the road there will be also typical small farming villages with a marked European look.

Once we arrive into this 39,255 hectares Park, located in the shores of Reloncavi, we start a beautiful hike in the different trails going through the Park. If we are lucky we will watch some of the interesting animals that live in these lands like the Chilean deer, pumas, pudús (the smallest deer in the world), condors, black carpenter birds and much more.  We stop for lunch in one of the picnic facilities. We then return to hike among these ancient trees and lakes. Later on we return to Puerto Varas.

Day 3 Exploring Perez Rosales National Park (B,L,D) lodge

We're off to one of the most beautiful and oldest parks of Chile, Perez Rosales National Park. Visit the mighty Osorno Volcano, take photos from the amazing scenic overlooks, get a great view of the surrounding wild areas you won't soon forget! Continue exploring the park, having the option to do a short hike called ‘El Solitario’. Visit Petrohue Falls, to witness the turquoise waters of the River Petrohue cascading over sharp rocks, a very exciting view! For the next two nights we will be at the Petrohue Lodge on the shore of Lake Todos los Santos.  We say goodbye to our guide from Puerto Varas, but meet our new guide from the lodge.

Day 4 Discovering Petrohue and Lake Todos los Santos (B,L,D) lodge

Lots of activities to choose from today!  Kayaking on Todos los Santos, hiking through local forests or go fly fishing. Any excursion we choose will surely be fulfilling and will let us get in touch with this natural place. I In the afternoon we come back to the Lodge and have free time to rest and relax, enjoying our last night in the Lakes District zone.

Day 5 Adios Lakes District! (B)

Today we will enjoy our last morning in the Lakes District. After breakfast we might do a short walk by the lake shores to savor the breathtaking views of this beautiful place. Transfer back to Puerto Montt City. Hopefully this will not be the last time visiting this place, adios Lakes District!
