After breakfast this morning in Leon, you are picked up and transferred to Selva Negra. Upon arrival, settle in, have lunch, and spend the remainder of the day exploring this truly unique farm and ecolodge.
The nature reserve on which the Ecolodge rests is classified as cloud forest. This area is rich with plant and animal life and home to exotic and elusive bird species, stunning vistas of fog-shrouded valleys and mountains, and rare rainforest flowers, trees, and vines. Enjoy a self-guided hike through the grounds this afternoon, or pay a visit to the farm animals as you settle in to your Nicaragua rainforest lodge.
In the evening, relax lakeside and partake in a delicious meal consisting of organically-grown fare raised onsite.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a free morning to explore the grounds and take part in some onsite optional activities. We recommend the guided hour and a half tour of Selva Negra's sustainable farm and community. Take a unique look into the sustainable farming and the roles that history, climate, topography, and social programs have played in the development and operation of the estate. Other activity suggestions include a hike or horseback ride on the reserve's rainforest trails. Or visit the local the museum and artisan shop. If you don't mind a drive, you can also arrange to drive into Matagalpa to explore the town.
After lunch, join a small group guided tour of Selva Negra's coffee estate. On this walking tour, see the process of coffee production from seed to cup. Learn about the nurseries and organic laboratories. During harvest time (Nov-Feb) you may be able to witness the bean picking and weighing process. Sample the product at the end in the museum with a complimentary cup of coffee.
After your tour, spend the evening relaxing on the farm and enjoy dinner by the lake.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.

Jane Packer helped us through the cancellation of our trip due to American Queen Voyages bankruptcy and then finding another cruise with American Cruise Lines.
Jane is very prompt in response, answers any questions, and makes good suggestions thereby making the process much easier!

Adventure Life did an excellent job of planning, organizing and executing a great trip to Argentina. It was nice to have the trip with just the two of us which allowed for a more personable tour with excellent tour guides in all four locations visited. We learned lots of details of the beautiful sites in BA, Mendoza,Baliloche and Iguazu Falls. We want to do another trip with Adventure Life some day.

Kassandra rocks! She had our trip planned and helped us arrange our air travel within the day we contacted her. She has helped us with our trips to Chile Argentina and Costa Rica, and she always finds us wonderful activities and accommodations. We’re looking forward to seeing what she’s planning for us this time when we go to Easter island
