Pre-Departure Information » International FlightsInternational carriers often overbook, so it is necessary that you check-in no later than 2 hours before departure. When departing from home, you should reconfirm your reservation by calling the airlines 72 hours in before your departure. When departing from your host country for home, be certain to give your tickets to the hotel operators in your departing city upon checking into the hotel or to your Adventure Life guide. One of our representatives will then confirm your departure for you. Do not forget to retrieve your tickets from the desk before you leave! If, because of a late flight (but not a rescheduled one), you lose a connection or are forced to overnight, the carrier is responsible for providing you with help in making the earliest possible connection and paying for a room in a hotel of their choice. They should also provide meal vouchers. If you are seriously delayed on an international flight, ask for these services. In the event of your delay, for any reason, please contact your Adventure Life coordinator in the host country and/or the Adventure Life home office, so we can make arrangements to catch you up to your tour. Internal FlightsSince many domestic carriers in Latin America change their departure times often, even within days prior to departure, it would be very unwise for you to purchase your internal flight tickets from your home country. For this reason, our local outfitters will purchase your internal flights for you. Given the sometimes-fickle nature of air travel in Latin America, we cannot be responsible for airfare penalties for any reason. Departure TaxesIn the U.S. the airport departure tax is included in your ticket price. This is not the case in Latin America. Here, taxes are to be paid at the airport before boarding a domestic or international flight. Check with our ground staff upon arrival to get exact rates, since these rates have a tendency to change. Some countries also require that you pay in clean bills. Be sure to read the additional information on airport taxes that we have provided pertaining to your particular destination. Ground TransportationOnce in Latin America you will be traveling in private and public vehicles such as vans, buses and taxis. We have taken the utmost care in choosing our mode of transportation and our routes in order to provide you with a comfortable, yet culturally immersed trip. Although we do our best to select reliable transportation, be advised that roads are often unpaved, frequently muddy, full of potholes, and dusty. Flat tires/breakdowns do occasionally happen. Arrival/Departure TransfersWe've thought long and hard over this one. We want to offer our travelers this service, but it is often much more expensive than simply arranging a local taxi or bus from the airport. We also understand the peace of mind that an arrival transfer offers, and we want to make your holiday hassle free. This is why we have chosen to offer arrival and departure transfers as an additional service on all our tours. We're more than happy to meet you at the airport when you arrive and help you through the departure at the end.
