Day 1 Arrive Punta Arenas, Chile

Arrive in Punta Arenas, where you will be met by a representative and transferred to your downtown hotel . Overlooking the Straits of Magellan, the city sits astride one of the world's most historic trade routes. Today, Punta Arenas reflects a great mix of cultures, from English sheep ranchers to
Portuguese sailors, and it remains an utterly fascinating testament to Chile's rich history.

Tonight, gather to meet your fellow expeditioners and a briefing on the first leg of your expedition – your flight
to Antarctica!

Day 2 Fly from Punta Arenas to King George Island | Embark

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
This morning we will be transferred to Punta Arenas airport for your early morning charter flight to King George
Island, Antarctica (weather permitting). The flight will take approximately one-and-a-half hours.

On arrival into King George Island your expedition team is on hand to greet you and provide you with gumboots for
your Zodiac transfer to board the Greg Mortimer. You’ll have time to settle into your cabin before atternding important
briefings. This evening, get to know your fellow expeditioners and friendly expedition team and crew at a welcome
dinner to celebrate the start of a thrilling adventure to Antarctica.

NOTE: King George Island is located at the northern part of the Antarctic Peninsula in the South Shetland Islands and
is one of the most remote places on Earth. A clear sky with perfect visibility is required in order for the plane to take
off and land safely.

Day 3-9 Antarctic Peninsula

  • Ship
  • 7 Breakfasts, 7 Lunches, 7 Dinners
The Antarctic Peninsula's western flanks offer long days and relatively ice-free waters. Visit historic huts and Zodiac cruise through narrow straits and majestic icebergs, and if you're lucky, whale watch from the bow of the ship. A few landing points you will visit include Half Moon Bay, Lemaire Channel, Hydrurga Rocks and more. Expeditions will also venture into Weddell Sea if weather and ice conditions permit. You will visit the large Adelie and gentoo penguin colonies of Brown Bluff or Paulet Island, and fossil-rich Seymour Island. You may hike to spectacular vantage points on Beak or Devil Islands; large tabular icebergs and volcanic scenery create long lasting memories. Wherever you go, wildlife, Heroic Age relics and haunting landscapes await.

Day 10 King George Island | Disembark

As you approach Frei Base on King George Island, it is time to farewell Antarctica and yur amazing adventure before
boarding your return flight to Punta Arenas, Chile. On arrival at the Punta Arenas airport, you will be transferred to
our preferred downtown hotel.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).
