Follow in the footsteps of one of the greatest explorers of all time, Sir Ernest Shackleton, as we journey deep into Antarctica by way of the wildlife-rich Falkland Islands/Malvinas and South Georgia during this 20-day voyage aboard MS Seaventure. We’ll explore the fascinating history of the area, dating back to the grandiose times of the ‘Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration’ of the late 1800s and early 1900s, as we encounter jaw-dropping scenes in nature, colossal icebergs, and incredible wildlife.

Day 1: Arrive in Buenos Aires

Arrive in Ezeiza International Airpor, Buenos Aires then transfer to the Alvear Art Hotel. Spend overnight with dinner included.

Day 2: Charter flight to Ushuaia | Embark

Enjoy breakfast at Alvear Art Hotel then transfer to the airport in Buenos Aires. Take your Charter Flight to Ushuaia via Airbus 320 with "European Business Class" seating. Take lunch in Ushuaia before embarkation aboard the Seaventure in the afternoon.

Your Expedition Team and ship staff greet you on board, followed by a safety and orientation briefing and Captain’s welcome dinner.

Day 3: Southern Ocean

As you sail south, important briefings on environmental regulations and expedition safety are held. You won’t want to miss your experts as they begin their informative and entertaining talks about the wildlife and geology of the area, with special presentations by your accomplished Historians on Antarctica’s unique history and Shackleton’s saga.

Day 4: West Falklands

You’ll be exploring some of the westernmost settled outposts in the Falklands/Malvinas, where you can take in the beautiful countryside and look for Black-Browed albatross or Rockhopper, King, and Magellanic penguin rookeries.

Day 5: Stanley | East Falkland

Stanley is a lively hub of activity nestled in a sheltered harbor. Head out on foot to explore the museum, shops and services centered on the port, or look for sea lions, dolphins, and bird life along the shores.

Day 6-7: Southern Ocean

Things really start to ramp up with plenty of wildlife and seabird identifying to do as you make your way east across the Antarctic Convergence and officially enter Antarctic waters. Shipboard presentations continue, featuring topics like the captivating history of Shackleton’s quest and the abundant wildlife of South Georgia.

Day 8-11: South Georgia

South Georgia is often referred to as the ‘Serengeti of the Southern Ocean’ and it’s easy to see why as you take in tens of millions of breeding penguins, seals, and seabirds. Magnificent mountain scenery, glaciers galore, icebergs, a rich historical tapestry, and an incredible array of wildlife will astound you as you travel down South Georgia's leeward coast. You’ll also visit historic Grytviken whaling station, featuring the tiny graveyard where Shackleton is buried with his right-hand man Frank Wild beside him.

Day 12-13: Scotia Sea

Heading farther south, you’ll continue your informative presentations and wildlife spotting as the icebergs become bigger and more plentiful.

Day 14-17: Antarctic Peninsula & South Shetland Islands

Hopping into your inflatable Zodiac boats, you’ll spend as much time as possible exploring. Be prepared to marvel up close at nature’s glory as you set a course for the most scenic bays and channels of the Peninsula. You’ll follow in Shackleton’s footsteps as you attempt to land at sites of historic and scientific interest, including Elephant Island and Point Wild.

Day 18-19: Drake Passage

You leave this magical place and make your way north, once again heading across the Antarctic Convergence and the Drake Passage. You have one last hurrah as you celebrate the conclusion of your expedition with a special slideshow and a final meal together.

Day 20: Ushuaia | Disembark

With huge smiles on weary, content faces, disembark in the morning. You will be transferred to the Ushuaia airport for your private group charter flight via Airbus A320 back to Ezeiza Int’l Airport (EZE) in Buenos Aires for international departure.
