Day 1: Halifax

Founded in 1749, Halifax is both historic and hip, and well worth spending an extra day or two before embarking on your expedition with MS Fram.

Day 2: Cape Breton

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Sail toward the island of Cape Breton and the historic port of Louisbourg.

Day 3: Iles de la Madeleine

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Twelve islands comprise the 62-mile-long archipelago called Iles de la Madeleine. Today's locals are called 'Madelinots', and they identify themselves as Acadians and Quebecois. Others are descendants of survivors from more than 400 shipwrecks on the islands.

Day 4: Bonne Bay

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Scenic Bonne Bay is among Newfoundland's most beautiful bays and divides Gros Morne National Park, a combination of protected areas and small coastal communities. The Tablelands Mountains here, flat-topped rock outcroppings usually found deep in the Earth's mantle, are unique, and they are the reason the park was named a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 5: Red Bay

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Red Bay is a modern Labrador coastal town with rich culture and history. A Basque whaling center since the 1500s, at its peak the settlement had some 2,500 whalers on 50 ships from France and Spain, who came to hunt right and bowhead whales for blubber.

Day 6: L'Anse aux Meadows

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Arrive at St. Anthony, where the surrounding sea is full of icebergs. Interested in Viking history? Visit L'Anse aux Meadows, a UNESCO World Heritage site where Vikings built a camp more than 1,000 years ago.

Day 7: Battle Harbour

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Battle Harbour is a nature lover's paradise where you can encounter whales, dolphins, seabirds, arctic foxes, icebergs, and spectacular scenery.

Day 8-11: Labrador

  • Ship
  • 4 Breakfasts, 4 Lunches, 4 Dinners
Leave Labrador and Canada and set our course for Iceland. Enjoy a relaxing day at sea with a good book, or join a fascinating lecture to gain more insight into this amazing region.

Day 12: Westfjords of Iceland

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Reach western Iceland, called 'The Sagaland', because of its remarkable volcanic landscape and deep fjords.

Day 13: Stykkisholmur

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
The idyllic town of Stykkisholmur is surrounded by so many islands that they can't be counted.

Day 14: Reykjavik | Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
Reykjavik is the world's northernmost capital city, and the end point of our expedition. Explore mythical Iceland further before flying home.
