Day 1: Embark in Sydney, Australia

Embark your ship this afternoon between 4:30 and 5:30 PM. Settle in to your cabin and familiarize yourself with your ship. L'Austral stay in port this evening.

Day 2: Sydney, Australia

Warm and carefree, Sydney is a great seductress nestled in the heart of one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. Between beaches and skyscrapers, hip boutiques and designer bars, hotels with a contemporary architecture and monuments from the Victorian era, the capital of New South Wales is both trendy and classic, dynamic and creative, and a highlight of your cruise. At the start of the cruise, set off on a fascinating excursion to discover the Blue Mountains National Park, where surprising landscapes await you, including gullies, forests and bush, wooded hills and streams winding along cliff bottoms. In the company of your Naturalist Guides, come and discover this timeless place and walk along paths lined with numerous Wollemi pines, which are recognized as being the oldest trees in the world.

Day 3: Eden, Australia

Located along the migration route of the humpback whale, the town of Eden is steeped in history related to the whaling industry. En route, your guide informs you about the impact of the whaling industry on the town and its earliest inhabitants, the Yukn people. Choose from two optional excursions to learn more. Enjoy a guided tour and some time at leisure at the Killer Whale Museum to learn about the history of the whaling industry that lasted from 1828 to 1930. The Eden Killer Whale Museum has been in operation for over 75 years and is recognized as one of the most progressive and innovative museums in regional NSW. Alternatively, drive to Ben Boyd National Park where a park guide offers you a glimpse into the lives of the early settlers and walk through the cottage where the Davidson family lived next to the whaling station on picturesque Kiah Inlet.

Day 4: Flinders Island, Tasmania

Your first stop in Tasmania is Flinders Island. Located 34 miles off the northeastern tip of the island, it is covered with rugged mountains. Its coasts are lined with sandy beaches, punctuated by coastal lagoons. Your excursions here are still being finalized.

Day 5: Wineglass Bay / Coles Bay, Tasmania

Freycinet National Park, on Tasmania's eastern shores, is the state's largest park. Founded in 1916, it contains some of the island's most rugged coastline. Red and pink granite formations, and jagged granite peaks, called "The Hazards" are among the park's best known feature. Stop in the secluded Wineglass Bay, voted among the world's best beaches. Also visit Coles Bay, the largest settlement in the National Park, with 470 inhabitants. Details about your stops today are forthcoming.

Day 6: Maria Island, Tasmania

Located on the east coast of Tasmania, all 115 square km of this former penal colony are now a national park. Once on shore, discover its famous cliffs of ochre sandstone and its wild coastal landscapes, as well as flora and fauna that are unique in the world. Whether you are a dreamer or an experienced adventurer, this faraway island is bound to win your heart. Zodiac cruises and other optional excursions are possible ways to explore this small island. Day 7: At Sea

Spend your last day at sea taking advantage of your ship's amenities, on deck watching for marine life or birdlife, and reflecting on your Tasmanian adventure.

Day 8: Disembark in Melbourne, Australia

Melbourne stands out as one of the continent’s most creative cities. This Australian capital of fashion, culture and sports changes colors, styles and tastes according to influences, which is why it attracts all sorts of creative types. Disembark your ship following breakfast, transfer to the airport for your homeward journey or spend time exploring this exciting city independently.
