Marigot is the main town and capital on the French side of Saint Martin. The city of Marigot is perhaps the most French in spirit of all the cities in the Caribbean. Colonial houses stand beside cafés and bistros, pastry shops and luxury boutiques, and in many ways, it looks just like any of the French market towns you might expect to find in Europe. At the southern end of town by the harbor is Marina Port la Royale. This area includes elegant stores with the latest in European designer fashion and fine jewelry, all duty and tax-free. The entire city is only four streets wide, so it is very easy to get around. Marigot was named the capital during the reign of King Louis XVI, who built Fort St. Louis on a hill near Marigot Bay. Today, that building is the most important in the city. SeaDream anchors off Marigot and offers several yachting land adventures as well as the possibility to play with the toys at the marina.
Falmouth Bay is a short walk from Nelson's Dockyard and the English Harbour, surrounded by historic buildings and mills. This harbor and the quiet village has plenty of shops, restaurants and the yacht club. Historic sites, tasty cuisine and a lively cultural scene can all be found on Antigua. But most often, it's the beauty and versatility of the island's 365 beaches that draw travelers from afar. Land adventure possibilities include a helicopter ride over Montserrat, a jeep and snorkel safari and a St. John’s City shopping exploration.
Day 3: Falmouth Bay, Antigua and Barbuda | Little Bay, Montserrat
Prior to the recent volcanic eruptions that commenced in 1995, Montserrat was considered as one of the “Insiders'” favorite Caribbean islands. It was also home to producer George Martin’s Air Studios Montserrat recording studio where some of the world’s most famous recording artists, including Eric Clapton, the Little River Band, and Paul McCartney among many others, used to record their albums. Recent history has brought some unfortunate blows to the island ranging from hurricanes (Hugo in 1989) to multiple volcanic eruptions. Yet, in the face of such unfortunate setbacks, Montserrat remains an island worth visiting and its people, as friendly and warm as ever, are trying hard to bring back the economic viability of the island. Just imagine an island where almost two-thirds of its surface space is no longer available to agriculture or habitation; an island whose lovely capital city of Plymouth was destroyed by the volcanic eruptions and mudslides; a population that went from a high of 13,000 inhabitants to as low as 3,000 shortly after the first eruptions. Fortunately, more and more of the former residents are returning to the island and are trying to make a living off tourism once again.
Some of St. Kitts’ most tranquil and beautiful beaches are found in Frigate Bay. Highlights include Majors Bay, South Friar’s, Sand Bank Bay, and Turtle Beach, just to name a few. Frigate Bay's beaches are ideal for swimming, snorkeling and an array of water sports. Beyond the waves, discover the island’s lively beach bars and picturesque landscape. St. Kitts also attracts hundreds of different bird species, making Frigate Bay an ideal destination for bird watchers. Whether by day or night, Frigate Bay is the quintessential Caribbean destination, both relaxing and vibrant.
Day 5-6: Saba, Netherlands Antilles | Gustavia, St. Barths
This Caribbean paradise is a special municipality of the Netherlands. Due to this fact, Saba is actually the location of the tallest, or highest point/elevation of the Netherlands, even though it is a few thousand miles away from its European homeland. With an estimated local population of just over 2,000 people, Saba is now primarily supported by tourism, and is known for a concentration on “eco-tourism.” This includes diving, hiking, and climbing its mountainous terrain. The island is so small that there is only one main road, and its airport is well-known for having one of the shortest commercial runways in the world. The island’s intimate size, picturesque red rooftops, and lush vegetation make it a perfect port to call on during your special Caribbean yachting vacation.
Perhaps the most treasured destination in the Caribbean, the small island of Gustavia belonging to the French West Indies has so much to offer to SeaDream guests. Incredible shopping only steps away from the pier. Incredible shopping awaits only steps away from the pier. Incredible beaches, resorts, restaurants, and activities are available both day and night. Ask one of the officers to take you on a hike or bike ride around the island. Another great activity here is to simply relax and watch all of the incredible yachts arriving and departing just off your SeaDream yacht.
The British Virgin Island’s barefoot island and home of the "Painkiller" drink, Jost van Dyke's population depends on the month – typically 250-300. This is a SeaDream destination where you may be served champagne and caviar in the surf followed by a beach barbecue lunch. A hike is always offered to guests to visit the famous Foxy’s Bar at Great Harbour (hopefully, the boutique is open) or you can stroll a few meters down the beach to the Soggy Dollar Bar. Snorkeling equipment is provided as well as some of the water toys!

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
