Experience the ultimate of polar expedition cruising. The Silver Cloud expedition will be the most spacious and opulent ice-class ship following its 2017 renovation. It boasts five dining options, and 80 percent of the suites have a private balcony so that you can witness a whale breach or a few penguins playfully frolic. The most distinctive expedition ship now in service has a swimming pool, sweeping decks, and multiple open areas.

Silver Cloud boasts the highest space-to-guest and crew-to-guest ratios in expedition cruising because of its small guest capacity, only 200 in polar seas. Silver Cloud Cabins, Staterooms & Suites

Like the rest of Silversea's fleet, Silver Cloud is all-suite, with varied sizes and comforts. The 146 suites all offer ocean views, and around 75% have balconies. Suites range in size from 240 square feet to over 1,300 square feet, offering one of the industry's largest space-per-passenger ratios. (Please see below suite categories, photos, and deck plan).

Most notably, every suite enjoys the same degree of refined service, including a butler. You can call him to make dinner reservations, request a different pillow, or order particular complimentary beverages for your ensuite mini-fridge and cocktail bar. Bvlgari® bath amenities are offered, or a choice of hypoallergenic brands. Silversea Mattermoll® mattresses come with Pratesi® fine bed linens and down duvet covers. In addition, travelers can choose from various pillow kinds (like memory foam or buckwheat).

Rooms have iPod alarm clocks, direct-dial phones, and flat-screen TVs with DVD players and satellite reception, among other equipment. Daily Movie Screenings and DVD lenders. Onboard Wi-Fi is provided in all suites and public areas for a complimentary one-hour per guest/per day access. Personalized stationery, an umbrella, a hairdryer, binoculars, and complimentary shoe shines.

Dining

With four restaurants to select from, dining is one of the Sea Cloud cruise ship's best features.

The Restaurant serves innovative, international food made by their most accomplished chefs. Menus emphasize regional specialties, so don't be surprised to see roasted Chilean Sea Bass while cruising the Chilean fjords.

The Grill's lava stone cooking is one of the healthiest cuisines available. The Grill, made of volcanic rock and heated to 400°C, allows visitors to cook right at their table. Soup bowls are great for cooking meat, fish, and vegetables. Every bite is cooked to perfection. The Grill becomes a daytime rotisserie and gourmet salad and burger bar, offering build-your-own burgers from the best range of meat.

La Terrazza offers freshly prepared original a la carte dishes enhanced by a large selection of complimentary wines, even in the most isolated locations! La Terrazza transforms into an intimate Italian restaurant for supper, using only the freshest seasonal products.

La Dame. Dinner is served in an intimate, elegant environment, with superb wines paired with regionally-inspired food. Onboard, guests will enjoy a six-course meal including world-renowned wine regions. Reservation cost of $60 per person. Make your reservations with My Silversea.

To avoid crowds, you can order a course-by-course meal from the Restaurant or the expansive Room Service menu if you prefer to stay in.

Amenities Onboard

Silver Cloud was thoroughly refurbished in 2017. Among its new amenities include:

The two-story Explorer Lounge on Decks 5 and 6 features tiered seats and intimate seating groupings. Formerly the Venetian Lounge, this space serves as a lecture hall and expedition briefing room. The new, brighter decor better reflects that of the Silver Muse's aesthetic.

On Deck 5, Dolce Vita, previously The Bar, is a social hub with live music and events throughout the day. Dolce Vita retains its Silver Spirit-inspired decor from a 2012 refurbishment despite its new name.

The Photo Academy, which replaces the long-suffering Casino, is adjacent to Dolce Vita. Offers workshops on everything from social media to Photoshop and Lightroom. Silversea has added both Mac and PC workstations to let guests feel at ease. Prices for these masterclass courses with the ship's onboard Photo Specialist range from $75 for a session on Social Media to $2800 for a photo expedition for up to six individuals.

In the day, the Panorama Lounge serves a continental breakfast and beverages with spectacular sea views (from comfortable sitting inside or outside). At the same time, it turns into an intimate dance club with piano music at night.

Tor's Observation Lounge is a new addition to Silver Cloud. Tor's, named after Viking Cruises' chairman Torstein Hagen, replaces the former gymnasium, originally an observation lounge.

The Humidor is a dark, cozy place for cognac and cigars, with buttery leather sofas.

Silver Cloud Reviews

Guests are generally pleased with the extensive ?refurbishment. Full vintages of wine from modest European vineyards, rather than the bland New World wines carried on most lines, were greatly appreciated by passengers.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
