Day 1: Baltra - Santa Cruz Island - Black Turtle Cove

Arrive at the Baltra airport and transfer to the Galapagos Voyager. Attend a briefing about the island and the ship onboard.

Set sail for Black Turtle Cove to view black and whitetip reef sharks, sea turtles, golden cownose rays, spotted eagle rays, and the occasional hammerhead shark. The shallow inlet of Black Turtle Cove provides protection for juveniles of several species and is ideal for snorkeling.

Day 2: Santiago

In the morning, sail for Puerto Egas to relax on black sand beaches and visit the old salt mines. Take an inland hike to the salt crater or walk along the rugged shoreline to find iguanas and sea lions. At the end of the trail, hope to find a colony of fur seals and night herons.

Following lunch, travel to Espumilla Beach and visit its mangrove forest. You may see nesting sea turtles and flocks of pink flamingos. Snorkel and swim in the shallow water.

In the evening, make your way to Buccaneer Cove. Pirates used to drop anchor in this secluded cove to make repairs and replenish their food stores. Hike along the cliffs for stunning views of the island.

Day 3: Bartolome - Santiago

Visit Pinnacle Rock and the White Sand Beach for opportunities to photograph the Galapagos penguin. Snorkel and play with sea lions as they scoot towards you on the sand.

Day 4: Santa Cruz Island - Highlands - Charles Darwin Center

Journey to the Santa Cruz Highlands and hike through its varied terrain. Pass through all seven vegetation zones and view Galápagos flycatchers, small tree-finches, and woodpecker finches.

In the afternoon, visit the Charles Darwin Research Station to learn about the unique history of the islands and to interact with the giant tortoises who reside in its corrals.

Day 5: South Plaza Island - Santa Fe

Travel to South Plaza Island to view one of the largest populations of land iguanas in the Galapagos archipelago. Take a rocky trail which circumnavigates the island and displays a combination of dry and coastal vegetation zones.

In the afternoon, sail for Santa Fe to view its Opuntia cactus forest. Snorkel in the picturesque turquoise lagoon and play with sea lions in the shallows.

Day 6: Daphne Island- Santa Cruz Island - Bachas Beach

In the morning, journey to Daphne Mayor, a restricted area accessible by few visitors each day. Venture up a steep trail to the volcanic crater rim to see the red-billed tropicbirds which nest in the cliffs.

After lunch, travel to Bachas Beach to go swimming. View the floating pier which was left after the end of World War II. View the flamingos, Sally Lightfoot crabs, hermit crabs, black necked stilts, and whimbrels which make Bachas Beach their home.

Day 7: Genovesa

In the morning, travel to the coral beach of Darwin Bay. Take a short hike which leads you through seabird colonies and a large red-footed booby colony.

In the afternoon, take the wooden staircase up Prince Phillip’s Step (El Barranco) for panoramic views of the island.

Day 8: Mosquera - Santa Cruz Island - Dragon Hill

Set sail for Mosquera Island's narrow stretch of white sand, rocks, and tide pools. Explore the area on foot or take to the sea to swim in the warm waters.

Eat lunch and then sail for Dragon Hill to see flamingos, common stilts, pintail ducks and other species of birds. Take a short walk to the lagoon behind the beach.

Day 9: Chinese Hat - Rabida

Travel to Sombrero Chino (Chinese Hat) to view a colony of sea lions on the white coral sand beach. See American Oystercatchers, Galapagos Penguins, and Sally-Lightfoot Crabs as they travel over the volcanic rocks.

Travel to Rabida to view the numerous colonies of birds which claim refuge along its cliffs and rocky face.

Day 10: Isabela

Visit Isabela's Wetlands, which consist of lagoons, swamps and mangroves. Take a foot path which winds its way through the swamps.

Visit the Tortoise Breeding Center to learn about tortoise conservation in the Galapagos Islands.
Giant tortoise eggs are collected and brought to the center to be hatched and taken care of for five years before being released into the wild.

Day 11: Santa Cruz Island - Baltra

Make your way to Los Gemelos, two volcanic depressions on the highest part of Santa Cruz.

In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your connection back to the mainland.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
