Day 3: West Iceland | Akureyri
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Today visit Godafoss, the magnificent “waterfall of the Gods“, and explore the natural beauty of the Lake Myvatn area, including the peculiar lava formations at Dimmuborgir and the pseudo craters at Skutustadir. The pseudo craters were formed by gas explosions when boiling lava flowed over the wetlands. Last but not least visit Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall in the northern part of Vatnajökull National Park. Lunch is provided on the way. Dinner and overnight in the Husavik area.
Húsavík is often called the “whale watching capital” of Iceland, as the town’s offshore waters are home to 15 different whale species, as well as dolphins. Watching these graceful ocean giants in their Arctic habitat is an unforgettable experience. An exciting trip with RIB boats (Rigid Inflatable Boat) to search for the gentle giants awaits you. Lunch in Husavik. Embarkation in the afternoon.
Today‘s destination is the idyllic town of Isafjördur, capital of the Westfjords region. This secluded peninsula is connected to the rest of Iceland by only a narrow strip of land. Even by Icelandic standards, the area can be described as unusually isolated. The landscape is characterized by mesas and dramatic fjords that cut deep into the landscape.
In the morning the Ocean Diamond reaches the small village of Stykkisholmur, starting point for your explorations of the Snaefellsnes peninsula. Snaefellsnes is also known as “Iceland in miniature” since this region contains nearly all different kind of Icelandic scenery. In the evening the Ocean Diamond leaves Stykkisholmur for the direction of Reykjavik. Tonight you may have the last opportunity to see northern lights!
Day 7: Reykjavik | Disembark
1 Breakfast
In the morning return to the port of Reykjavik. After breakfast it’s time to bid farewell to the Ocean Diamond. Explore Reykjavik and the surrounding area on your own. Reykjavik, which is both the economic and cultural hub of Iceland, boasts a variety of museums and shops. Scattered around the city are fascinating natural wonders like glaciers, waterfalls and geysers.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
