Today enjoy an all-day optional excursion, starting at the Thingvellir National Park, a place of tremendous interest as a primary site of both Iceland’s geological and historical heritage. The tour continues to Gulfoss, Iceland's most beautiful waterfall and then to the Geysir geothermal area with its multitude of hot springs, where the most active one, Strokkur, spouts every few minutes. Stop at the Hveragerdi village, where geothermal water has been used to build up an extensive greenhouse industry and then at the Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant showcasing Iceland's ability to supply green power. Your tour ends as you pass through Reykjavik’s city center before arriving at the pier. Overnight in port.

Day 3 Akranes

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
In the morning, reach Akranes and disembark by tenders for a full-day optional excursion to Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful thermal spring, and in the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls area. Stop in Reykholt, which was at one time one of the intellectual centers of the island and had for many years one of the most important schools in the country. Here lived and died in the Middle Ages one of the most important persons in Icelandic history: Snorri Sturluson, a famous poet, and politician whose records of the old Norse language and mythology of medieval Iceland are invaluable to modern scholars. Remains of his farm and a bathroom with a hot pot and a tunnel between the bath and the house can still be visited. In the afternoon, rejoin the ship and sail to the west fjords. Overnight at sea.

Day 4 Patreksfjordur | Isafjordur

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
In the morning, sail past the Latrarbag Cliffs which rise 450 m over the sea and reach Bildudalur. In the afternoon, take an optional excursion and visit the Dynjandi Waterfall, walk around Bildudalur, and visit the sea monster museum. In the afternoon, cruise around the Westfjords and arrive in the evening in Isafjorfur.

Day 5 Isafjordur

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Spend your morining in Isafjordur, a large fishing port in Westfjords. Your afternoon optional excursion takes you to Bolungravik and then to Osvor town where you can visit a restored fisherman's hut. Back in town, visit the maritime museum and walk around the town known for its rich cultural heritage and merchant's homes dating from the 18th century. In the late afternoon, sail to Siglufjordur.

Day 6 Siglufjordur | Husavik

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner

Enjoy an optional walking tour through the city, the port, the herring museum, and the folk music center housed in Madame House, the oldest house in the city. After lunch leave for nearby Husavik port and in the late afternoon sail in the Skjafandi Bay and reach Husavik, Europe's capital of whale watching. There is plenty of time for you to stroll around this charming fishing village and visit the wooden church, the best preserved church in Iceland

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
This morning enjoy a full-day optional excursion from Husavik to Akureyri. After lunch, continue on the ring road to reach Godafoss Waterfall - the Falls of the Gods - and learn about the Kristni saga, recounting the arrival of Christianity and the end of paganism. Rejoin the Panorama in Akureyri, the capital of Northern Iceland, and spend some time walking around this colorful city, visiting in particular the art alley.
