This 2-day tour will take us around the magical Snæfellsnes peninsula. Due to its variety of dramatic landscape, you could say it is Iceland in a nutshell. It is dominated by the mighty Snæfellsjökull Volcano, topped by a glacier. On the northern side you will find charming little fishing towns, lava fields, beautiful black and golden beaches and picturesque mountains like Kirkjufell. There is a national park with lava caves and a pebbled beach surrounded by gorgeous rock formations. The south side is packed with natural wonders like the breathtaking columnar basalt and cliff formations not forgetting the old little black church at the hamlet of Búðir. On the way back to Reykjavík take a detour into the valley of Borgarfjörður to see the spectacular waterfalls Hraunfossar and the hot spring Deildartunguhver.
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
You will be picked up around 8:00AM from your accommodation in Reykjavík. (Not included, but can be arranged for an additional cost). Set course to Snæfellsnes and head for the northern part of the peninsula. On the way, we stop to dip our feet into a nice natural hot spring. We explore the northern coast of the peninsula with its small fishing towns and take pictures of the picturesque and much-photographed mountain Kirkjufell. We enter the Snæfellsjökull National Park and stretch our legs by climbing up to the crater Saxhóll (328 ft. high). Our next stop will be the Djúpalónssandur pebble beach where we wonder the natural rock formations. After the beach, a short drive takes us to the 8000-year-old lava tube cave Vatnshellir. Enjoy dinner on your own and overnight in a comfortable hotel. If the conditions are favorable, we may have the perfect view of the northern lights.

We are so glad that we chose Adventure Life. The service is top-notch. Everything is well taken care of and we just have to print the documents and go. Franny even gave us timely updates on possible airport strike.

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
