Board Sea Cloud II on this 8-day cruise to some of the highlights of the western Mediterranean. From Civitavecchia, the port of the eternal city of Rome, cruise to Corsica and Sardinia. Visit Bonifacio, with its medieval old town perched high on chalky cliffs. Explore Alghero, Sardinia, nicknamed "little Barcelona" for its strong Catalan influence and Catalan Gothic character. Discover the birthplaces of Napoleon Bonaparte in Ajaccio, a beautiful Corsican town that calls to mind the Côte d'Azur of mainland France, as well as Elba, the place of Napoleon's exile and itself a charming island home to white sandy beaches, imposing cliffs, and vineyards and olive groves.
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
All roads lead to Rome. The stunningly beautiful city on the Tiber is around 70 kilometers (44 miles) from the port of Civitavecchia. The highlights of the "Eternal City" are not limited to the seven hills of antiquity. The historic center and the Vatican State in Rome are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In the city of Vespas and "la dolce vita", painters, sculptors and architects have left behind innumerable works of art over three millennia. Ancient sites, Renaissance palaces, Baroque squares and fountains create a splendid backdrop for enjoying life in between the daily routine and eternity. Explore this fantastic city before transferring to Civitavecchia to board your ship and embark on your cruise.
This small seaside resort town on the island of Sardinia provides a perfectly laid-back locale for a stroll through the small town center, or to relax on the beach.
The chalk cliffs are visible even from a long way away and fall away steeply into the sea like a wall. Hidden behind them is a fjord-like inlet, which provides the beautiful entrance into the natural harbor of Bonifacio. The elegant modern lower town is set around the harbor with a promenade that runs the length of the deep bay and leads to the elegant marina. More than 187 stone steps, majestically named the "Staircase of the King of Aragon," lead you up to the medieval upper town, which sits lofty and impregnable high up on the top of a steep chalk cliff.
From the port access a dune-bordered beach, a beautiful beachside promenade, and, on a headland, the old town of Alghero, which sits behind thick fortifications. Alghero is something very special: many buildings and squares in the charming old town were built when it was ruled by the Catalans and some of the inhabitants still speak a dialect of Catalan today, earning the town its nickname of "Little Barcelona." Grand palaces, numerous churches and towers, winding lanes and lively squares with snug bars and restaurants transport you into the Middle Ages with a Catalan-Gothic character.
The majestic-looking little town of Ajaccio sits in a beautiful bay on the south of the island of Corsica. Its Mediterranean atmosphere evokes the Côte d'Azur, but with a typically Corsican character. Napoleon Bonaparte was born in Ajaccio, and evidence of the great Corsican is still present everywhere today. One of Napoleon's uncles bequeathed his art collection to the town, and you can now view this in one of the museums.
Though a small Tuscan island, Elba is surprisingly diverse. Imposing cliffs, white sandy beaches, avenues of cypresses, vineyards and olive groves, traditional villages and elegant beach resorts make the place of Napoleon's exile somewhere you would in fact like to be banished for longer. The beautiful old town of Portoferraio, with its narrow streets of steps and medieval fortress, is set high up on a rocky headland. In the enchanting town of Porto Azzurro, the palm-lined promenades, charming piazzas and small beach are at the center of the town's activities.

We are so glad that we chose Adventure Life. The service is top-notch. Everything is well taken care of and we just have to print the documents and go. Franny even gave us timely updates on possible airport strike.

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
