Step aboard the Le Bougainville for an unforgettable 10-day cruise between Greece and Italy! The first stop is at Milos, known as “the island of colors” due to its volcanic rock in shades of ochre, red and white, then make the way to Gythio, near the Byzantine city of Mystras. The next day, the ship drops the anchor in Kalamata. Be sure to visit Ancient Messene, an ancient helot city whose walls are extremely well preserved. In Pylos, discover the Palace of Nestor, one of the heroes of the Trojan War. Then, head on to Reggio Calabria. Famous for its Belle Époque and Art Nouveau architecture. Explore Amalfi and the little villages hid nearby present amazing landscapes. Before disembarking, succumb to the charms of Tuscany with a final stop in Porto Santo Stefano.

Day 1: Athens | Embark

The Greek capital city is located on the edge of the Saronic Gulf, in the east of the country. It bears a plural name in reference to the first villages that surround the Acropolis. Enchant by the rocky plateau presided by its monuments listed as UNESCO World Heritage. In the city below, visit some of the liveliest districts in Athens: Plaka, with its maze of colorful streets, and where, in the evenings the drifting aroma of moussaka and garlic prawns. Don’t miss anything of the city’s cultural past. Pay a visit to the National Archaeological Museum, or the Cycladic Art Museum.

Day 2: Adamas, Milos

Although Milos is especially renowned for the famous statue of Venus found in a field there and now displayed in the Louvre in Paris, this mineral island is also a geological treasure. Its volcanic origin is evident in its breathtaking landscapes and the colors of its cliffs, ranging from pure white to deep red. Discover the wild beauty of the shorelines lined with the most beautiful beaches in Greece from a ship deck, and enjoy privileged access to emerald-green coves. Tiny fishing ports like Adamas hide there, with brightly-painted doors and terraces. Milos is a charming port of call in the heart of the Cyclades.

Day 3: Gythio

Located in the south of the Peloponnese, on the Mani Peninsula, Gytheio was the main port and naval base of ancient Sparta, located around fifty kilometers inland. In Roman times, the port experienced significant expansion thanks to trading in imperial dye; in fact, the region had an abundance of murex, the rock snails from which this dye, loved by the Romans, was extracted. The town is nestled against Mount Koumaros and dominated by a citadel. Take a stroll and fall under the charm of the calm that reigns over the stairways bordered by small neoclassic houses with steps overrun with wildflowers.

Day 4: Kalamata

The capital of the Messenia region in the southern Peloponnese, Kalamata is the ideal port of call for combining aquatic pleasures and cultural discoveries. Edged by an immense 5 km beach, the town, which is famous for its silk scarves, is home to a rich historical heritage. Strolling through its charming streets, discover the magnificent neoclassical constructions and a number of religious buildings. To the north, the former fortress and its ramparts offer a unique perspective over the town. The highlight of the visit is undoubtedly the archaeological remains of ancient Messene, located just a few kilometers from Kalamata, one of the major sites of Ancient Greece.

Day 4-5: Pylos

The picturesque port of Pylos is located in the south west of the Peloponnese. Backed against the lush green hills of Messenia, it looks out onto the Navarino Bay. Admire the gorgeous view walking uptown amid pink oleanders that cascade over the jetty. A stone’s throw away, the historical center’s winding streets plunge into a maze of houses with whitewashed facades and terracotta roof tiles. On the capital main beach, brings relaxation in the shade of the age-old plane trees and taste the delicious local biscuits made of sesame and honey.

Day 6: At Sea

During the day at sea, make the most of the many services and activities on board. Have a moment of relaxation in the spa or stay in shape in the fitness centre. Depending on the season, be tempted by the swimming pool or a spot of sunbathing. This day without a port of call is also an opportunity to enjoy the conferences or shows proposed on board, to do some shopping in the boutique or to meet the expert photographers in their dedicated space. As for lovers of the open sea, it is a must to visit the ship’s upper deck to admire the spectacle of the waves and perhaps be lucky enough to observe marine species. A truly enchanted interlude, combining comfort, rest and entertainment.

Day 7: Reggio Di Calabria

At the southern tip of the Italian boot, Reggio de Calabre guards the eastern shore of the Strait of Messina. From the lungomare, the seafront promenade, there are magnificent views over Sicily, a little over 3 km away, and Etna. Rebuilt after the 1908 earthquake, Reggio is set out in a grid pattern and has Art Nouveau and Belle Époque architecture that is added to its charm. And the fragrance of bergamot, the citrus fruit that dominates the region’s confectionery and perfumery. A visit to the National Archaeological Museum is a must. It is one of the most important in Italy and among its collections are the famous Riacce Bronzes, the stunning Greek statues dating from the 5th century BC that found off the coast in 1972.

Day 8: Amalfi

The little town of Campania gives its name to the region containing the magnificent, UNESCO World Heritage listed, Amalfi coast. And The capital. Located at the foot of Mount Cerreto, against a rock face of a gorge that opens onto the sea, Amalfi’s absolutely splendid natural scenery alone is enough to feast the eyes before reaching the medieval streets to explore some of its southern. The mix of cultural influences from the Mediterranean Rim is omnipresent here. Don’t miss the dome of Saint André the Apostle and its beautiful ideal, before sipping a delicious lemon juice made from locally grown lemons at a terrace bar.

Day 9: Porto Santo Stefano

In Southern Tuscany, Porto Santo Stefano, a charming seaside resort located on the Monte Argentario peninsula, is renowned for its enchanting setting. Nestling on the side of a hill, the small town offers beautiful sandy beaches with crystal-clear water and a picturesque town center. Stroll around its steep alleyways lined with colored houses and discover La Rocca, a Spanish fortress built in the 17th century to protect the town against pirate attacks. Enjoy a stunning view over the port and the Gulf of Talamone.

Day 10: Livorno | Disembark
