Water for the Bagan Dry Zone

Many regions in rural Myanmar suffer from notorious water shortage, especially in the Dry Zone around Bagan.
Contributing with a water supply system, entire communities receive fresh water for the daily cooking, drinking and washing. Daily walks to water wells can take many hours, making it an everyday struggle to fetch a few liters of water for the Taung Gone village, located 25 miles outside of Bagan.

As ground water can only be found 800 feet below the village, Adventure Life has partnered up with Taung Gone village committee, building a water supply system from the closest water resource outside of the village to the center of the community of 120 families.

Most of the villagers are farmers and pottery makers, which has been a long-lasting profession in the region and water plays an essential role for the job to be done and to support their families.

To guarantee a sustainable operation of the supply system, the head monks of the village will be monitoring and collecting small funds for future maintenance. Ensuring the active involvement and inclusion of the community will encourage the everyone to take good care of the system.  Providing the basic need of water to the communities in the Dry Zone, near the famous temples of Bagan, has an enormous impact on the life of villagers and is desperately needed.
