This Georgian harbor town is home to one of the world’s longest running sailing regattas. A waterfront lined with vintage sailing boats; the peaceful Isle of Wight is the former residence of the British royal family. This artificial harbor reopened to sea traffic in 1957, after ships were purposefully sunk to prevent the port being used during the World Wars. Connected to Bruges, this World Heritage-listed city is a fairy tale town with cobble-stone streets, picturesque canals linking squares adorned with soaring spires, churches, monasteries and medieval buildings. Zeebrugge is the gateway to Flanders, which is brimming with quaint medieval squares, tree-lined canals, gorgeous architectural facades and world-class museums. The region is also home to the Flanders Fields, the scene of the First World War for four long years.
