Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Your expedition begins in the most Northerly town in the world, Longyearbyen. In the afternoon, embark on your expedition vessel at the port of Longyearbyen. After an introduction from the expedition leader and a safety briefing from the Captain, set sail out through the majestic Adventfjord. As you sail out through the Isfjord, spend time on deck watching for the whales that frequent the waters.
In the morning, you approach Prins Karls Foreland, an uninhabited island of beautiful scenery off the west coast of Spitsbergen. The vessel drops anchor and launches the Zodiac landing craft to go ashore and visit an area where walruses haul out. In the afternoon, prepare for a wilderness hike. You might frequently see Svalbard reindeer here. If the conditions allow us, sail up to the edge of the sea ice that extends to the North Pole. In calm conditions, cruise the edge of the sea ice-keeping, a sharp lookout for wildlife that includes polar bears that hunt on the ice.
As the expedition venture to the northwest region of Spitsbergen, encounter numerous glaciers and stunning Arctic landscapes. Under the guidance of the expedition leader, use the Zodiacs to go ashore and explore various places on a daily basis including glacier fronts, places of historical interest, and wildlife sites. When ashore, there will be the opportunity to do wilderness hikes which is the perfect way to experience the raw nature of the Arctic.
As the expedition sails back south, explore the area in Kongsfjorden. Expect majestic glaciers, some of Svalbard’s most beautiful fjords, and scenery from the decks. Here you encounter one of Svalbard’s most breathtaking sites, the Lilliehook glacier, one of Svalbard’s largest calving glacier fronts. Spend time here witnessing nature’s beauty in its rawest form with the option of doing a wilderness hike to a neighboring fjord.

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.

The trip was not only memorable for the amount of animals we saw but also for the people and accommodations at the two camps where we stayed. Our first guide, BK, was a wealth of information about the animals, landscape and down to the plants and what they were used for. Everyday out was a learning experience with him. All the people at the camps were gracious and the food was excellent.
Our second camp in the Okavanga was just as good as the first as far as the staff, accommodations, food and animals. After our experience at the first camp we amazed that the high quality remained the same. Our guide, G, made sure we were able to enjoy every experience including a rush through the bush to witness a cheetah and an ensuing hunt that he heard over his radio.
In both camps there were enough guides out that if they saw something the other guides were informed which helped in seeing as much as possible. It was also nice that the concessions were large enough that we did not have vehicles following each other throughout the day.
Normally there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took.
Perhaps emphasizing the use of the laundry facilities at the camps would be useful because of the luggage restrictions would be the only thing I can think of as an improvement to future clients.
