Colonia, Uruguay

This morning, your transfer will pick you up at the hotel and take you to the ferry terminal for the one hour ferry to Colonia, Uruguay. Arrive in Colonia and meet your guide. A visit to the historic center of Colonia del Sacramento is like a walk back in time. Founded in 1680 by the Portuguese, this old colonial town is renowned for its cobbled, windy streets and colorful houses reminiscent of old Lisbon. This is an exciting opportunity to visit the best sights of the city of Colonia. Due to its colonial beginnings, the city's layout is different from the majority of Uruguayan cities. Its cobbled streets and houses alternate with small bars, excellent restaurants, art and craft shops, museums and a large yacht harbor. In the evening take the ferry back to Buenos Aires and transfer to the hotel.

This is a full day visit of Colonia with a three hour city tour with a guide and an afternoon to explore on your own. The trip can be customized based on the specific interests of the group, but travelers will often visit the beach promenade, Real de San Carlos with its bullfighting arena, the Old Town, and museums.

A guided ferry tour of the beautiful delta ends this five hour excursion.
