It was a great Ecuadorian rainforest kayaking adventure trip! And we learned: that a large black garbage bag makes a great raincoat in a pinch.That you keep your toes away from streaming ants.To bring extra clothing in small dry bags so that you can go to dinner in something other than your pajamas. . .That you are ALONE when you are alone in the rainforest. And you thought you were happy on a cruise!

Natalie and I had an amazing adventure! Our guides were down right spectacular, the boat OUTSTANDING (we have nicknamed ourselves \"Camp Galapagos\") and just the whole experience truly fantastic. We made new friends and enjoyed the richness, history and remarkable beauty of both the stunning Galapagos and mainland Ecuador. We are total fans!! Ashley and Cody experienced the wonderful hospitality of the quaint Haciendas of Ecuador on their trip. Then the were off to visit the Galapagos and take in the extraordinary wildlife of the islands aboard the ELF.

We experience the varied local cultures of Ecuador, starting with a 5 night homestay with a family of Kichwa farmers in the highlands of Morochos. Then we spend three nights camping with the jungle-dwelling Kichwa Waira Churi family. During a three day paddle down the Shiripuno River, we learn about the Huaorani culture of the Amazon basin. We explore the jungle for two days at the Shiripuno Lodge with our Huaorani guide before heading back to Quito and continuing home.
