Three years ago, we had to cancel plans for this trip when a powerful earthquake hit the southern part of the country. Earlier this year, torrential rains and mudslides wiped out the train track to Machu Picchu. Determined and hopeful, we set out once aga

Our long-anticipated exploration of pre-European Andean culture was more informative and enjoyable than ever we could have imagined. Two very knowledgeable and agreeable guides made it so. Breathtaking scenery was the norm. The highlight and great surprise of the trip was the Colca Canyon. The sheer effort involved in cultivating such seemingly inhospitable land is awe inspiring.

As an adventuresome couple Peru proved to be the perfect home away from home to celebrate our new life together. Living in Colorado drew us to the magnificent Andes and it proved to be a perfect fit for our love of the outdoors. We spent almost every moment of our visit enjoying the mountains in a variety of ways. Traveling came by way of plane, train, and automobile plus hiking, biking, and rafting. It's no wonder so many people have found this extraordinary journey on their bucket list.

A traveler's journey along the path of the Incas, from Cusco to Machu Picchu. Although everyone prepares you for the physical aspect of the hike, no one prepares you for the visual treat that this Andean hike offers. The trail takes you past dazzling peaks and glaciers, luminous glacial lakes, and through cloud forests, full of waterfalls, colorful orchids and delicate hummingbirds. The journey culminates at the lost city of Machu Picchu, nesting high on a mountain ridge.
