Guyana's Savannas
Pamela Knock (Guyana's Savannas, Feb 2011)
Guyana is not for the feint hearted. It was a real back to nature experience. Georgetown has seen better days.On the brighter side...I have never seen so many miles of unbroken rainforest...which has to be good. When you fly over it,it is as far as the eye can see in all directions.I hope that it stays that way. Kaeteur Falls are spectacular. We didn't see any cats. We did see giant otters, giant anteater, jabiru stalks and many rare birds, plus monkeys,a raccoon, an aguti,an Amazon tree boa,a squirrel,an iguana,a carpet libario snake (in our bedroom),lizards, golden frog at Kaituer, large toads, many big spiders, beautiful butterflies and many ants, flies, cockroaches, mosquitoes, ticks, mites and variousbats.
