Machu Picchu Pilgrimage

Katherine Smart (Machu Picchu Pilgrimage + Lake Titicaca, Mar 2013)

Our personal experience of the Machu Picchu trek gets top grade. Our guide, Santiago who was with us from Cusco through to Machu Picchu was awesome. Restaurants he chose, food to try, his explanation of culture and history, flowers along the trail, and of course the Incas. Very knowledgeable and easy going. The porters along the trek did an outstanding job... attentive, kind and friendly, and did an excellent job to make sure we had everything we needed. We appreciated learning that we had access to private campsites because of Adventure Life's contribution to conservation.

From booking to landing back in the U.S., Adventure Life--the trip, the guide, the porters, the hotels, was fantastic. Completely exceeded our expectations and we had a great honeymoon!

I have never had such a worry-free, worthwhile, and memorable experience. We wanted for nothing and yet we still had to work for it--that's the Adventure in Adventure Life! I don't even care where the next trip is--if it's Adventure Life, sign me up. Great choice of hotels and the camping equipment was top notch! I don't know how our cook kept making new and delicious food each day along the hike, but he did. From summiting Dead Woman's Pass at 14,000 feet, to spending a day on our own in Machu Picchu, Adventure Life gave us the chance to go out and touch another world. Exceeding my expectations.

I loved it. It couldn't have been better. Everything was perfect. Exceeded my expectations.

Machu Picchu by Train

Geraldine Smith (, May 2013)

Our guides were excellent, took great care of of, shared SOoo much info both personal & historical. We felt like part of a family. Lucked into 3 others on our Andes trip. Got on terrific w/them.

Had opportunity to taste most of the local food. Enjoyed it. MIssed out on the Guinea pig, however. We did trout instead. Fruits, yogurts, fresh juice - a delight. No squishy tummies at all.

Joyce Akins (Machu Picchu by Train, Dec 2012)

I loved taking different modes of transportation to get to Machu Picchu. It really built up the suspense. The information you provided to prepare for the trip was very thorough, especially the part about the toilet paper, having crisp dollar bills to exchange and being in good health. With all the walking and moving from place to place, anyone taking this trip needs to be in relatively good shape. For shoppers like me, you might want to add that this is not necessarily a shopping trip, although there are opportunities to shop. People on this tour should grab any chance they get to shop and be ready to make quick decisions. I realize that it is important to stay on schedule with the distances we had to travel. It was good to have one full day at the end in Cusco--the market was a sight to behold. On the final travel day back to the U.S., the day is really long if you don't get out of the airport and take a tour of Lima. I took this trip to get away and have a new experience. It definitely lived up to my expectations. Thanks for making this happen on such short notice!
