HOME » Belize Travel » Kayaking Itinerary Belize Kayaking Itinerary:
Day 2: Breakfast is on your own. At 9:45 AM one of our representatives will meet you at the hotel, and at 10:00 AM we depart by power boat for a 45 minute to 1 hour ride out to the Barrier Reef and Silk/Queen Cayes where we'll spend the next 2 nights. The Silk Cayes are 3 small isolated islands right on the barrier reef. The islands are right out of a dream - white sand beaches, palm trees and clear, turquoise blue water! Upon arrival you'll have a chance to snorkel around the Silk Caye and
view the magnificent fish and corals that surround the island. Blue
Tangs, Butterfly fish, Parrot fish, and Angel fish are just a handful
of the tropical fish you can observe here. Your guide will point out
fish, corals and other sea creatures. Back on dry land we'll lunch on
Conch or lobster fritters (depending on season), fresh We then paddle around to a neighboring caye (island) for about an hour, giving you a chance to practice your paddling techniques and get a feel for your boat. Dinner this evening will be Conch steak or fish, split peas with rice, steamed vegetables and fresh tropical fruits (papaya, pineapple, and more!). This evening on the island you can do a night snorkel and observe the reef's nocturnal creatures, or just relax and stargaze! Day 3: Breakfast this morning is tropical fruits, banana bread, cheese and oatmeal. We then paddle to a nearby sand spit for about 1 1/2 hours. Snorkeling here you'll see more colorful reef fish and both hard and soft corals: stag horn, brain, elk horn, sea plumes, sea fans, and others. From here we paddle about another hour to Hatchet Caye. Once on the caye, you can enjoy a pack lunch of bread, cheese, fruits, peanuts and cookies. After lunch you'll have another chance to snorkel and relax on the beach (stress? what's that?!!). Each island has its own unique habitat so you will be seeing new fish and sea creatures at each new stop. In the afternoon we paddle for an hour, returning to Silk Caye. While your dinner is being prepared you might want to relax in a hammock or explore the island. Dinner tonight is barbecue fish, rice and beans, steamed vegetables. Again, the evening is open for a night snorkel, stargazing or conversing.
After lunch you will have the opportunity to snorkel around this island, relax in the hammocks or do some beach combing. In the afternoon we paddle 1 - 1 1/2 hour to Whipray Caye, where we'll be overnighting. We set up camp and you can relax or explore the island. Dinner will be fish stew Belizean style w/ potatoes, cassava, and coco yam, along with carrot salad and fruits. Tonight you will have the opportunity to do more stargazing with your guide. Day 5: Breakfast of fry jacks, eggs, fruits and cheese. We break camp and begin paddling toward Placencia. Along the way we will stop off at Lark Caye for a snorkel and lunch of fish patties, rice, and fruits. We continue our paddle through this range of islands, reaching the beaches of Placencia after a total of 3 - 3 1/2 hours of paddling for the day. This concludes your kayak adventure.
