This authentic and less-traveled Botswana safari entices travelers with its big game and intimate experience. Explore the Okavango Delta of Botswana and the Linyanti, Moremi, Khwai Concessions, and Victoria Falls. A mix of African safari accommodations from classic tented camps, to spacious semi-permanent camps offer variety while on this journey. Explore Botswana's rich waterways by boat, traverse the delta expanses by light aircraft, walk on Chief Joseph's Islands, and feel the constant spray of Victoria Falls.
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Arrive to the Maun airport where you meet a safari representative and check in for your flight to the Xigera airstrip. This light aircraft flight will take you to the heart of the Okavango Delta, and a thoroughfare of waterways, islands, and a plethora of wildlife in the Moremi Game Reserve. Take a two hour mokoro (dugout canoe) ride before arriving at camp. Keep your eyes out for tiny frogs and amazing birds as you glide through the tall grasses of the delta. Tonight, feast on a camp fire dinner and tell tales before returning to your tent for the first night of your Africa safari experience.
Today you wake early to a camp breakfast before setting off to explore the area either by foot or by mokoro. Activities in the Moremi are dependent on the water levels, which are at their highest in June, July, and August. Regardless of the mode of exploration the islands offer guests an up-close game experience. Watch out for red lechwe, which are specially adapted to the water, several different species of birds including the elusive Pel's Fishing-Owl, elephants, and maybe even hippo. Return to camp for another camp dinner under the stars.
Return to the airstrip by motorboat in time for a flight to the Khwai Concession, just north of the Moremi Game Reserve. This reserve is fed by the Khwai River, the top 'finger' of the Okavango Delta’s alluvial fan. Spend the next 3 days exploring the concession on a mix of day and night game drives, nature walks, and seasonal canoe rides. Birders will be thrilled with the area's variety of winged species. The Khwai Concession is one of the most diverse areas in northern Botswana which seldom disappoints when it comes to producing fascinating wildlife experiences. Move through the Mopane forests in search of large herds of elephants, different types of antelope, kudu, Tsessebe, wildebeest and zebra. Because the waterway attracts so many animals it is a natural attraction for predators as well. Keep an eye out for a lion crouching in the tall grasses, spotted hyena, wild dog, and if you are really lucky you may even see a leopard.
Depart camp in time to catch a flight north to the Linyanti Concession. The Linyanti's perpetual waters attract herds of wildlife that walk well-worn game paths to quench their thirst in the dry season. Predators follow in their footsteps providing diverse and exciting game viewing. Couple that with the area's diversity of habitat, including riverine, savannah, forest, and plains, and travelers witness a diverse safari experience available in few other, if any, destinations. Meals are served under the stars in the open air dining area, and camp is nostalgic of age old African explorers with canvas tents, bucket showers, and common areas that surround a camp fire.
Fly to the northeast corner of Botswana and embark on a river cruise in Chobe National Park. This area is ripe with non-predatory animals such as buffalo, giraffe, elephant, hippo, zebra, impala, and white rhino. Watching from the water offers guests a completely different vantage point to experience the wildlife in the area. After disembarkation, transfer to Livingstone, Zambia where you can settle into camp and enjoy your river front view of the Zambezi River.

Hannah and Nur got the gist of what we wanted our trip to be. They got us in hotels that were located centrally to historic tours. Tours and excursions that were significant, enriching and enjoyable. We had drivers that were on time/reliable. We got from location to location with ease. I would never have been able to plan this myself. I would not have known enough to ask for what we needed. This was above and beyond what I expected. Well done!
