Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Relax on board your luxurious vessel while cruising the Caribbean waters.
Day 4: Willemstad, Curacao - Dutch West Indies
Off the Venezuelan coast lie the leeward islands of the Dutch West Indies, with wonderfully evocative names like Curacao with its white sandy beaches lying at the foot of Mount Christofel. The island’s capital of Willemstad has retained a very special ambiance while attractive buildings from the colonial period seem to suddenly appear on every corner and square of the old district.
Day 5: At Sea
Another day at sea to enjoy the numerous amenities on board.
Day 6: Cartagena, Colombia
Gateway to the Andes and a strategic crossroads in the Caribbean Sea, Cartagena is a former bastion of the Spanish Kingdom. It was here that the gold pillaged from the Aztec and Inca empires was stored before being shipped to Spain. Cartagena is classed to UNESCO World Heritage.
Day 7: San Blas, Islands, Panama
The San Blas Islands conceal a little-known secret world: that of the Kunas Amerindians. Between these unspoiled islands fringed by palm trees, people still travel in dugout canoes. The women here make “molas”, gorgeous brightly colored fabrics with geometric motifs.
Day 8: Colon, Panama / Canal Transit
Etched by the Caribbean Sea, Colon Province can be proud of a glorious past, as it was from these shores that Panama was discovered. The town boasts what are arguably the finest testimonies to the country’s colonial history. About 30 miles from here, on the banks of a tributary of Rio Chagres, are several communities of Embera people, Amerindians who live in perfect harmony with nature having integrated their ancestral way of life and traditions with their environment today.
Crossing the Panama Canal - Construction of this engineering miracle began in 1881 under Ferdinand de Lesseps, French architect and was achieved by an American one in 1914. While your exact transit time through this 51 mile-long cannot be guaranteed, your crossing is sure to be a treasured highlight of this cruise any time of the day or night.
Day 9: Fuerte Amador, Panama
Port details pending.
Day 10: At Sea
Day 11: Manta, Ecuador
Like a maritime painting on the edg of a tropical forest, Manta is a picturesque little seaside resort in Ecuador. Not far from here is the village of Montecristi, where the world-renowned Panama straw hats are produced. Contrary to popular belief, given their name, they actually come from Ecuador.
Day 12: At Sea
Day 13: Salaverry, Peru
Salaverry has retained much of its former charm in the colonial residences, the Iturregui Palace and Place d’Armes. Not far from here you will find the Chan Chan site, the largest pre-Columbian city in the Americas which once stored large quantities of gold, silver and valuable pottery.
Day 14: Callao - Lima, Peru
An exciting modern metropolis, Lima also offers some of the finest examples of colonial architecture and many museums including the famous Gold Museum. From here you have the opportunity of a lifetime to visit the Inca city of Machu Picchu, Cuzco and the Sacred Valley. Overnight docked in Callao.
