Galapagos Cruise With Dad

By : Reilly Sullivan
Trip Begins June 18, 2009
Trip Ends June 26, 2009

Continuing her small-ship adventures, Reilly introduced the Galapagos Islands to her dad. How do you sum up a trip to the Galapagos? A birders paradise? A zoo without cages? Neither of the previous statements do Darwins Islands any justice.

Trip Summary

Galapagos

How do you sum up a trip to the Galapagos? A birders paradise? A zoo without cages? Neither of the previous statements do Darwins Islands any justice. The Flamingo I, our vessel for the week, took us on an expedition to see and experience as much of the Galapagos as we possible could. Snorkeling with Green Sea Turtles, Sea Lions, Penguins and fish oh yes brightly colored and of all shapes and sizes we saw fish. It's a once in a lifetime experience to come into such close contact with the local wildlife. Birds in their nests two feet from the path, baby sea lions begging you to pick them up, crabs and lizards darting under your feet as you step lightly across the volcanic rock pathways. Dad and I traversed through an underground lava tunnel on Santa Cruz, having to crawl the last 10 feet providing a very unique experience. I was lucky enough to be on a family specific departure. What an awesome experience for kids! The Islands provide an intriguing vacation for all ages."
