Day 1: Arrive Nairobi

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi on the flight of your choice today. After clearing customs and baggage claim, you will meet your safari representative and transfer to Nairobi's Eka Hotel. Settle in for a peaceful evening in Kenya's cosmopolitan capital city.

Day 2-3: Amboseli National Park

  • Hotel
  • 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners
This morning we embark for day one of our safari, setting out for the southern park of Amboseli. Amboseli National Park is renowned for its excellent variety of wildlife, such as the Masai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah. The landscape here is dominated by open plains, acacia woodland, swamps, Ol Doinvo Orok massif and the beautiful snowcap of Mount Kilimanjaro rising in the distance. Today we explore this park on a game drive, searching for wildlife in the plains and congregated around one of the park's many streams and watering holes.

There is plenty to do over the next two days, including game viewing, bush walks, a visit to a Maasai village or to the Amboseli Research Center, the longest study of wild elephants in the world.

Day 4: Karatu

  • Hotel
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Enjoy one final breakfast in Amboseli before setting out for the Tanzanian border. After clearing customs and immigration procedures you are met by a Tanzanian driver guide, who will escort you to Arusha Coffee Lodge's "Shanga Experience" for lunch. Visit the Shanga workshops, learning about this exciting project supporting Tanzanians with disabilities. We then make our way to Karatu and the Plantation Lodge, located a short distance from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

  • Hotel
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Rise early to make the most of our day in the Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is a deep, volcanic crater and is the largest unbroken and unflooded caldera in the world. The crater is protected by high walls, forming a natural enclosure for the abundance of resident wildlife and an opportune chance to view the Big Five. Spend a full day exploring this incredible World Heritage Site, searching for unique wildlife while learning about the harmonious coexistence between wildlife and people of this area. Ngorongoro Crater is also home to a diverse bird population, species which include Lammergeyer, Vereaux's Eagle, Egyptian Vulture and flocks of Greater Flamingos, which are spasmodic visitors to the crater lakes.

Return to your lodge before dusk, in time to freshen up and head to dinner.

Day 6-8: Northern Serengeti

  • Hotel
  • 3 Breakfasts, 3 Lunches, 3 Dinners
Over the next few days we will witness one of the world's greatest wildlife phenomenons - the Great Migration. Set out after breakfast for the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park. Meaning "endless plain" in the Masai language, the Serengeti is without a doubt one of the most famous wildlife reserves in the world, and its vast plains and abundant wildlife will leave a lasting mark on any visitor. It is from here that massive concentrations of wildebeest, zebra and other wildlife commence the annual Great Migration in search of new pastures. Experience the awe-inspiring spectacle of two million animals thundering across the savannah, evading lions and crocodiles as they cross between Kenya and Tanzania.

For a different perspective, take an optional hot air balloon tour at dawn, just as the sun begins to set and the its golden rays illuminate the land (additional cost).

Enjoy peaceful evenings at camp, congregating around the camp fire and reminiscing about our days in the Serengeti. Each night fall asleep to the sound of absolute solitude.

Please note that the migration is continually moving, therefore camps listed are subject to change based upon where the migration is at the time of your visit.

Day 9-11: Mara North Conservancy

  • Hotel
  • 3 Breakfasts, 3 Lunches, 3 Dinners
Awake to another peaceful morning in the Serengeti, enjoying one last breakfast before boarding a scheduled flight to the Tanzania-Kenya border. Upon arrival at Tarime Airstrip, transfer to Migori Airstrip and board another scheduled flight into the Masai Mara. From here we will proceed to camp with a game drive en route, arriving at the camp and settling in with a refreshing welcome drink and light lunch.

Set back out for our first full game drive in the Mara North Conservancy of the Masai Mara, Kenya's counterpart to the Serengeti. The Mara North Conservancy is a private wilderness area forming the north-western border of the Masai Mara, and this world-class conservancy is a partnership between a few camps and over 800 Masai landowners, an arrangement that guarantees an exclusive safari while minimizing negative impact on the environment and local communities.

Throughout the year large numbers of herbivores such as elephants, giraffe, zebras, Thomson’s gazelles and impalas seek the area for water and grazing. We will spend the next 3 days exploring this incredible area.

Day 12: Nairobi | Departure

  • 1 Breakfast
Rise early for one last breakfast in East Africa, joining your transfer back to the airstrip for a scheduled flight back to Nairobi. From here you will be transferred to either the airport or to your Nairobi Hotel. Continue onwards with your East Africa adventure, or return home with memories to last a lifetime!

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
