Atta Rainforest Lodge is a rainforest lodge at Mauisparu, near the southern boundary of the Iwokrama Reserve in central Guyana. It is about 500 m (1,640 ft) from the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway.
The lodge is about 300 km (186 mi) south of Georgetown and 130 km (81 mi) north of Lethem, surrounded by tropical rainforest. Its main building is open-sided, with views over the gardens, and houses the bar, dining area, and kitchen. The two accommodation buildings were originally open-sided shelters for hanging hammocks and have been enclosed into eight rooms. The lodge and the canopy walkway are jointly operated by Surama Village, Rock View Lodge, the Iwokrama International Centre for Rainforest Conservation, and Wilderness Explorers and are staffed by local Makushi Amerindians and other Guyanese naturalists. The lodge reports that its conservation efforts have led to a nearly 100% sighting rate at a nearby Guianan cock-of-the-rock lek.
Room Specifications:
The lodge has eight separate rooms in two accommodation buildings, each with an attached bathroom. Bathrooms have a roofless shower, a flush toilet, and a wash basin, and water is heated by the sun. Sleeping in a hammock is also an option. Bedding, room size, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, safe, and power supply hours are not specified on the official website.

Activities:
Visits to the Canopy Walkway are easily scheduled during your stay at Atta Rainforest Camp. You'll want at least one stop at the Canopy platforms before dawn so that you can welcome the dawn chorus from the canopy. Then you'll want to return again; as the afternoon cools, you can experience night falling and the canopy after dark. Additional visits are available outside these scheduled trips according to your schedule. All visitors to the walkway are accompanied by Canopy Walkway specialists.
Apart from the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway itself, you can enjoy wildlife and birdwatching walks on the trails around the area. For those interested in botany, many of the trails have the key tree species marked. Many bird species, stunning insects, noisy amphibians, and playful primates make the surrounding forest their home, and you can be fairly certain to spot some extraordinary wildlife without even trying too hard. Night walks are the guides' favorite, as something interesting or new always seems to pop on to the scene. Veteran guide Leon Moore really made 2012 special for dozens of guests who were able to spot numerous jaguars (panthera onca) along the transnational road near the lodge.
Excursions further afield can be arranged with notice: the Iwokrama River Lodge, Rock View Lodge, and Surama EcoLodge are all within an hour or two of the lodge's location, as is a fabulous Guianian cock-of-the-rock lek.
