Day 1 Puerto Montt to Puerto Varas lodge

After meeting our guide at the airport in Puerto Montt, we drive to Puerto Varas, a beautiful town bordering Lake Llanquihue - a quick 15 minutes away. As we drive, keep an eye out for the magnificent Osorno Volcano, a breathtaking view you can not miss. In the early twentieth century, Puerto Varas experienced significant German immigration and has a very unique architecture to show for it. After we arrive at the hotel, we will have a few free hours to check-in and have some lunch before the afternoon excursions.  The guide will pick us up for a tour of the nearby Frutillar village. We will visit the local museum and we might also get the opportunity to experience tea time, tasting local unique cakes and other popular desserts.

Day 2 Discovering Chiloe island or Relaxing at the Hot Springs lodge

(B,L)

Today you have the option of choosing one of the following areas to visit:

Chiloe Island: Cross the Chacao Channel and visit Ancud city.  Take a cultural walking tour around the city center, stopping at the main square to appreciate Chiloe’s mythological statues, the local Feria and Mercado; then stop in to visit San Antonio Fortress. A quick drive to our next destination, Puñihuil, a group of small islands are home to a beautiful Humboldt penguin colony and marine wolves. In the evening we will return back to our hotel in Puerto Varas.

Puyehue National Park and Hot Springs: Drive north through Chile's famous North-South highway, crossing the Lakes District center, Lake Rupanco and Lake Puyehue to reach the national park.  This magnificent park consists of 264,403 acres, a vast home for ever-green forests crowned by the Casablanca, Antillanca and Puyehue volcanoes.  Take a walking tour watching out for endemic flora and fauna. After lunch, enjoy the natural hot springs!  In the evening we are heading back to Puerto Varas.
