Nicaragua Custom
Glen Arnston (Custom Nicaragua + Custom Costa Rica, Dec 2012)
Trip to Nicaragua was a most excellent adventure. Although the country is not developed for tourists, that and the friendliness of the people makes the trip an adventure to remember.

Trip of my life - I wanted to create a permanent memory for myself and my son before he departed to college and this trip was just that - I loved the adventure, the service, the natural environment and the entire trip. Juan Carlos- best guide I ever had- he knows how to make his clients very happy. Food was good and very indigenous- ate lots of chicken and rice (and termites thanks to Juan Carlos). Very happy with accommodations- Aqua resort was the nicest resort i ever stayed at. Nice job Adventure Life - very classy.

Nicaragua is an amazing country, with a rich history. The geology and geography are unique. Where else can you see a dozen volcanoes, climb one in a cloud forest, another belching sulphur, tour underground lava tubes, kayak on the biggest lake I've ever seen, play on the beach, all within less than a 3 hour drive. The native food is very tasty, and the "best" restaurants are inexpensive by American standards and served wonderful food and wine.
Given the emerging status of Nicaragua as a destination, we were VERY pleased with the rooms. Hotel Victoriano honeymoon suite and our standard room at Plaza Colon were both first rate. Villa Pariaso was rustic, but we loved it. Like a cabin on the pacific coast of California....
Your staff added a trip to Leon to your standard tour for us. They answered all our questions most patiently!
Everything ran like clockwork and when we wanted to diverge from the schedule a bit when no 3rd party transportation was involved, the guide was most accommodating. When the volcano night tour got jammed up, our guide suggested to the rangers how to make things move more smoothly. She was the Best.

Our main guide, Gerald, was excellent. He had a great sense of humor, was well informed on local culture and history and was very, very nice and thoughtful. The people in Granada at the Hotel Plaza Colo, particularly Carlos, were super. You never know what to expect in developing nations. This was a great tour!

Our guide in Nicaragua did a great job. He was enthusiastic and friendly. His love for his country really showed. I think Adventure Life should make a push on promoting tourism in Nicaragua, it certainly is a destination that is growing fast.
Best of Nicaragua

Marissa helped us to put together a custom tour - we had started with a Best of Nicaragua tour but combined two days, added a stop overnight at Ometepe Island, rearranged the trip, etc. It was nice that we were able to customize it. All of the trip planning went very smoothly and she was very helpful in coming up with some different quotes/plans for us to consider.
Our Nicaragua trip was a perfect combination of beautiful scenery, history, wildlife, delicious food, and a much needed dose of sunshine. Elvis and Carlos ensured that we were able to fit a lot of activities into the day and we had a lot of fun along the way. Everything was well organized. One of my favorite activities was kayaking on Ometepe Island - we had to take a somewhat bumpy road to ultimately get to our destination at the mouth of the Rio Istian. It was very relaxing to kayak up the river and see all of the different birds and wildlife. I also liked the boat tour of the isletas near Granada... I is hard to pick a favorite activity - we also toured volcanoes, markets, museums, churches, etc. Granada and San Juan del Sur were the perfect size for being able to walk around and try some different restaurants. All of the accommodations were beautiful and we also enjoyed having a chance in the evenings to sit and enjoy our surroundings.

The Mombacho Volcano was my favorite- loved the canopy tour and walk through the cloud forest. Swimming and walking through a forest at Ometepe were also enjoyable. Juan Carlos was great- very knowledgeable and friendly as was Carlos, our driver, despite his limited English (it was good for my to practice Spanish)
