Spend the morning on a city tour that explores both the modern and ancient highlights of the dynamic city of Tokyo. After lunch, take a bullet train to Niigata and embark the Caledonian Sky.
Sado Island is a beautiful island that is not seen by many tourists. It holds both the pastoral charm of rice paddies and bamboo groves, as well as an incredible seacoast. Visit a sake brewery and make soba noodles by hand. Then, explore the Sado Kinzan Gold Mine in Aikawa and Toki Forest Park.
Spend the day in Kanazawa, a thriving center of the arts. Walk along the charming cobblestone streets and find traditional Japanese houses, museums, art galleries, a historic samurai residence, and even a geisha house. Adjacent to the Kanazawa Castle ruins are the famous Kenroku-en Garden. Explore the gardens, and a serene teahouse on a small peninsula in the middle of a gorgeous pond.
Matsue, the "town of water" sits between a gorgeous lake and a large lagoon. Here you may visit cultural attractions such as Matsue Castle, a 250-year old samurai house with tatami rooms, and the Adachi Museum of Arts.
Spend today in the magnificent Gyeongju, South Korea. UNESCO considers Gyeongju one of the world's ten most historically significant sites. It was the ancient capital of the Silla Dynasty. Enjoy many beautiful works of art including hand crafted masterpieces of metal, wood, stone, and pottery.
Spend the morning in the bustling Karato Fish Market. Afterwards, head to Hagi, an incredible medieval samurai town. Visit the serene Tokoji Temple and burial site of the daimyo which is surrounded by thousands of stone lanterns. Hagi is also famous for its pastel-glazed pottery, and you may even be able to see a master-potter at work.
Today, visit Uwajima Castle. This castle is one of only 12 surviving castle towers built in the Edo Period. The castle now serves as a wonderful museum. Afterwards, take a walk through Tensha-en, a traditional Japanese garden made as Lord Munetada's retreat.
In the morning, sail to Hiroshima and visit Peace Memorial Park. After lunch, visit the scenic wonder, Miyajima, or "shrine island." Here, you may see the famous scarlet torii that is the entrance to the Itsukushima Shrine, a World Heritage Site and a sacred pilgrimage site.
Today explore Naoshima, a beautiful city known for its many contemporary art museums. You may get the chance to visit some of them, including the Benesse House Museum and the Chichu Art Museum. In the afternoon, take a walk around the beautiful garden, Koraki-en. Koeaku-en is a 17th-century formal garden is full of walking trails, ponds, cherry and plum trees, and a traditional tea house.
Start your day in Shikoku Village, an open-air museum that had many different structures dating from Edo and Meiji periods. Then walk through Noguchi Sculpture Park where you can view over 150 pieces of art in a traditional garden setting.
Day 12: Kobe / Disembark / Kyoto

Disembark in Kobe and enjoy a morning city tour. After lunch at a local restaurant, head to Mount Rokko for a spectacular view of the city. Then board a bullet train for Kyoto. Enjoy a nice dinner and spend the night at the Hotel Okura.

After breakfast, take a morning tour of Kyoto, Japan's cultural capital. Some of the tour highlights include the Heian-jingu Shrine, the Sanjusangen-do Temple, the Buddhist goddess of mercy, and the amazing Kiyomizu-dera Temple with its sacred waterfall. After lunch, spend the day at your leisure.

The response from Adventure Life to my first inquiry was prompt and promising. I worked with Jamie Broeckel, Trip Planner, via text, email, and phone calls- always extremely responsive and thorough with information and explaining the process to arrange a private tour for me to Malaysia Borneo. Within about week, the booking was complete and I made decisions because of Jamie's great customer service , friendly manner, and overall competence on behalf of the company's travel expertise. Now I have an itinerary, additional Trip Planner Assistants, several links for vital information for traveling to Maylasia, etc. Still many details for Sept. trip, but now the heavy lifting is done and I can enjoy the rest of the anticipation and research!! The trip was not only memorable for the amount of animals we saw but also for the people and accommodations at the two camps where we stayed. Our first guide, BK, was a wealth of information about the animals, landscape and down to the plants and what they were used for. Everyday out was a learning experience with him. All the people at the camps were gracious and the food was excellent.
Our second camp in the Okavanga was just as good as the first as far as the staff, accommodations, food and animals. After our experience at the first camp we amazed that the high quality remained the same. Our guide, G, made sure we were able to enjoy every experience including a rush through the bush to witness a cheetah and an ensuing hunt that he heard over his radio.
In both camps there were enough guides out that if they saw something the other guides were informed which helped in seeing as much as possible. It was also nice that the concessions were large enough that we did not have vehicles following each other throughout the day.
Normally there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took.
Perhaps emphasizing the use of the laundry facilities at the camps would be useful because of the luggage restrictions would be the only thing I can think of as an improvement to future clients.
