Located one hour from La Paz is Tihuanaco (also spelled Tiwanaku), ruins
of an ancient city near the south shore of Lake Titicaca. Tihuanaco
is believed to be the ceremonial center for a pre-Inca civilization
settled in 600 BC and represents one of the greatest architectural achievements
of pre-Inca South America. Little is known about this culture as it
mysteriously disappeared around 1200 AD. Visit the archaeological site
and the museum.

La Paz. The trips starts early with a one hour transfer from La Paz

Lake Titicaca Full Day (Copacabana and Sun Island)

Transfer from La Paz by private vehicle to Copacabana (3 hour drive)
and visit this picturesque town situated between two mountains and on
the shores of Lake Titicaca. Explore the Inca sites outside of the city
as well as the cathedral with its dark Virgin of Candelaria statue and
museum of European and local religious art. You will have lunch in Copacabana
as well.
We board a boat and head towards the Sun Island (1 hour ride). The Sun Island is worshipped as the birthplace of Manco Kápac and Mama Ocllo, the first founders of the Inca empire. With your guide, tour the Pilkokaina Palace, the Incas Fountain, and the 200 stairs of Yumani. The views from the Sun Island are spectacular.
This afternoon return to Copacabana and continue to La Paz.

Mountain Bike to Coroico

Early this morning we depart for a one hour drive to La Cumbre, a point located at 15,400 ft above sea level. From here you will descend on bikes for the next 4-5 hours down towards the village of Coroico. Enjoy the gorgeous vistas and sights of the Yungas Valley, and stop to take photos along the way! Enjoy lunch in Corcoico before heading back to La Paz this afternoon.
Descent time: 4-5 hours, 90% downhill. Total distance on bikes: 67 km. Suitable
for beginner mountain bikers.

Tuni Condoriri Hike
(Full day)

This morning you set off from La Paz for the two and a half hour drive to Tuni
Lagoon. From here start out at an altitude of 14,100 ft walking through solitary
mountains, keeping your eyes peeled for llamas and alpacas in the region and
many smaller animals and gulls. The trek ascends progressively to 15,100 ft
and passes by Tuni, Chojna, Khota and Chiara-Khota lagoons along the way. At
the top you will be rewarded with an impressive view of snow-covered Tuni Condoriri,
named for its condor head shape. Enjoy lunch at the top before trekking the
two and half hours back down to the "Plaza de Llamas", where your
transportation will be waiting to take you back to La Paz.

Coroico Town and Plantations, Yungas Valley

This morning drive to the town of Coroico, located in a picturesque and semitropical
valley. Enjoy the beautiful vistas of the snow covered mountaintops surrounding
the valleys and the hills with green and fertile vegetation. This region is
one of three areas for coca production in Bolivia, and its tropical and humid
valleys offer abundant coffee, citric and coca plantations in the areas surrounding
the town. Visit the town as well as a coca and coffee plantation. Return to
La Paz in the late afternoon.
