Located on the narrow strip of land between the waterfront and the nearby hills, its cobblestone streets lead you through a labyrinth of colonial buildings, churches and museums. End your tour with a visit to the Muelle Prat pier and its lively market.

As an alternative to visiting Vina del Mar, travel to Isla Negra, the home of the Chilean Nobel Prize winning poet, Pablo Neruda.

Rafting on the Maipo River

You are picked up early this morning and head out of the city across the Maipo Valley. Arrive to the river base of either San Alfonso or San Jose where you meet your guides who will give you a safety briefing and get your equipement set up (wetsuit, helmet, paddle jacket and life jacket). Listen to a safety and technical instructions talk before setting out. The Maipo River flows between steep canyon gorges in the heart of the Andes mountains. The whitewater is a Class III-IV (depending on the snow melt) and suitable for both first timers and experienced rafters. Enjoy te Andean scenery and agricultural terrain of the Chilean countryside. Enjoy a lunch at a local restaurant after the take out and head back towards Santiago. Stop en route at the tiny village of La Obra wher ethe local El Raco winery is located. Take a peak at the wine production before continuing on to Santiago in the early evening.

Bike and Wine Tour

We pick you up at your hotel and head south to the wine country. Once in the wine country, we off load the bikes and ride through three vineyards and the small towns supported by the wineries. Ride for a few hours at an easy pace while exploring the three varying vineyards. Visit a rustic family-owned estate producing a wide variety of wine including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere (thought to be extinct until its rediscovery in Chile in 1995). See also a contemporary vineyard, started by a wealthy Santiago family to produce high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah and Cot (Chile's version of the famous Argentine Malbec); and finally finish in a 100% organic vineyard where we will taste wine directly from the tanks. After the final vineyard enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant before bikingan then driving back to Santiago.

Full day El Colorado Horseback Ride

This morning we pick you up and transfer across the Maipo Valley towards the Andes Mountains. Pass by the countryside to the Colorado River Canyon where the horses are waiting. Start the ride upwards throgh stunning landscapes, starting with green vegetation and old growth trees working your way up to plunging rock faces at the top. Depending on the season you may see a variety of waterfalls, streams, and fresh mountain springs and keep your eyes peeled for condors and other birds. After about two hours of landscape arrive to Las Ramadas Plateau, perched at the crown El Colorado valley. This small mountain oasis is home to a small cabin with bathrooms and a terrace where you enjoy typical Chilean barbeque and beautiful view before heading back to the canyon. Return by van to Santiago.

Wine Tours - Premium Maipo Valley Full Day

Includes: Full day guided tour of Almaviva, Concha y Toro and Antiyal vineyards in the fertile Maipo Valley, transfers

On this trip, we begin by visiting the Almaviva winery with its mix of the indigenous Mapuche culture of Chile with the tradition and elegance of the Rothschild’s from France. We will have a tasting of the Almaviva 2002 wine.

We will make our way towards Pirque, where the Concha y Toro winery awaits us with a special collection of wines ready for tasting after learning about their traditions and legends. Amongst other wines we will taste their key product, Don Melchor, and realize why this wine has been one of the best Chilean wines for the last 15 harvests.
We then have the option of going to the wine bar and tasting other wines.

Our next stop will be at the restaurant of the Origen Foundation with local and organic food in a very comfortable ambience (lunch is not included in the trip cost).

After this lunch we continue visiting Antiyal winery, where we will enjoy their unique organic wines, gaining an understanding of the background behind such wines and learn about biodynamic agriculture.
