What's your Adventure?

Day 1 Arrive Paris, France

Arrive in the morning on your overnight flight. Take today to relax or explore the "City of Lights."

Day 2 Explore Paris

See the most famous sights of Paris on this morning’s tour: Visit Notre Dame Cathedral, pass the renowned Louvre Museum, the commemorative Arc de Triomphe, Opéra, Madeleine, Champs Elysées and much more. The remainder of the day is yours to explore the many museums, galleries and other attractions that the city has to offer.

Day 3 Free day Paris

Enjoy a full free day to explore the most romantic city in the world. Stroll through the Jardin de Tuilleries, gaze at impressionist masterpieces at Musée D’Orsay, or visit the top of the Eiffel Tower, built for the 1889 World’s Fair. Paris at night sparkles with possibilities for every taste.

Day 4 Train to Lyon / Embark

This afternoon, board the TGV train, where you’ll be transported at top speed (up to 186 mph) in smooth, quiet comfort to Lyon. Lyon not only marks the meeting of the Saône and Rhône rivers, but it is also the gastronomic capital of France. Its rich ancient history includes Roman ruins and early Christian sites. You will have free time for lunch before enjoying a cooking demonstration. Afterwards, you will board the MS Swiss Pearl. Gather this evening on board for cocktails and a Welcome Dinner.

Day 5 Lyon - Trévoux

This morning’s city tour includes a stunning panoramic view of Lyon from the Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière. You’ll also explore the Renaissance charm of Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon) with its cobbled streets. Return to the ship for lunch, and relax as we sail north along the Saône River to the small town of Trévoux. A guided walking tour will take you through the historic village of Trévoux this afternoon. The former capital of the ancient principality of Dombes, the town’s landmarks include a Parliament building, medieval ramparts and a hillside Chateau.

Day 6 Trévoux - Vienne

This morning’s tour will take you behind the village walls of Trevoux and through Beaujolais, the Pay D’Or, or “land of the golden stones” so named for the ochre limestone of its homes and castles. Enjoy a visit with a local wine maker along this wine road or route du vin, where you’ll taste the world reknowned Beaujolais Nouveau before returning the ship. From there we cruise south from the Saône to the Rhône River and on to Vienne. This evening stroll along the sidewalk cafes of this rural walking town.

Day 7 Vienne - Tournon

Situated between the wine regions of Burgundy and Beaujolais, Vienne, like Lyon has a significant Roman history, which is highlighted by its marvelously preserved ruins and remains. During this morning’s walking tour you will see the 1st-century Roman Temple of Augustus, and the medieval churches of St. Andre-Le-Bas and Abbey St. Pierre, before we cruise on to Tournon and Tain L’Hermitage. These twin towns face each other across the Rhône River and are linked by a 19th-century suspension bridge. The fertile soil and ideal climate of the region has made Tain L’Hermitage the premier producer of the Côte du Rhône wines. Enjoy free time this afternoon to visit the 16th-century castle which is now a town hall, or visit the chocolate shop for a taste of the confections once produced in Tournon’s famous factory. After dinner on board you will enjoy a wine tasting.

Day 8 Tournon - Viviers

On this morning’s adventure, you will get a personal look at a working farm located in the midst of the Ardéche Mountains and then take a scenic tour of the valley’s beautiful landscape. Return to the ship for lunch as we cruise to Viviers. After dinner, enjoy an evening “ghost walk” through the largely abandoned Medieval town that once had more than 30,000 inhabitants. The ship moors overnight in Viviers.

Day 9 Viviers - Avignon

During breakfast, enjoy a scenic cruise to Avignon, arriving in the afternoon. Home to the papacy from 1309 to 1377, Avignon was an important center of the Catholic Church. Seven popes resided in the magnificent Gothic Papal Palace, which you will visit during your tour. You will also see the well preserved Medieval walls. Also, as your ship docks, look for the Avignon Bridge, made famous by the French children’s song "Sur le pont d'Avignon" ("On the bridge of Avignon"). The ship docks overnight in Avignon.

Day 10 Avignon - Arles

This morning, travel by motorcoach to the village of Les Baux. Enjoy the rich floral colors and amazing views from this village perched on the hill. This afternoon bathe in the Provençal light as you imagine how Vincent Van Gogh worked to capture the richness of every hue on your walking tour of Arles. While Van Gogh’s homes are no longer standing, you may glimpse the locales and vistas that inspired “Starry Night” or “Terrace de Café le Soir” as you pass Constantine’s Baths, the Romanesque cathedral and the Roman Amphitheater, which is still in use today.

Day 11 Arles - Barcelona

This morning after breakfast, transfer to Barcelona, capital of the Spanish region of Catalonia. Along the way, we’ll pass through the Camargue on the southern coast and trace the ancient trade route linking the Atlantic and Mediterranean seas. As we approach the Pyrenees, we’ll stop in the medieval city of Carcassone, which is surrounded by a double ring of walls, a world UNESCO heritage site, complete with 52 towers that stretches for more than two miles around this strategic import city. Here, you will have free time for lunch and some exploring on your own.

Day 12 Barcelona

Your full day in Barcelona begins with a driving tour to the top of Montjuic Hill where you’ll catch glorious views of the city below, as we see Palau Nacional (the National Palace), the Olympic Complex. Next, we’ll tour Placa Catalonia, and Las Ramblas, the promenade and center of Barcelona life. Later we’ll see the Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, designed by artist and architect Antonio Gaudí and still unfinished to this day, and take a walking tour of the Barrio Gotico (Gothic Quarter), King’s Square, and Tinell, the Royal Palace.

Day 13 Free Day Barcelona

Your last full day in Barcelona is yours to enjoy. Join us in the morning for the optional tour of Gaudí’s Parc Güell, where you’ll see some of his most captivating sculptures and architectural structures, return on your own to the markets of Las Ramblas or visit one of the many museums. This evening, join us for an optional dinner show featuring Flamenco dancers, or strike out on your own, perhaps across the port for seafood in Barceloneta.

Day 14 Depart Barcelona / Return Home

Your Europe river cruise comes to an end as you transfer to the airport for your homebound flight.

Launched in 2006, the MS Amadagio is part of the newest, state-of-the-art fleet of river cruise vessels in Europe. This vessel sets new standards in European river cruising and offers a number of features which no other European river cruise ship can match. The MS Amadagio carries 148 passengers in unequaled luxury, comfort and style and is staffed by a highly-trained professional crew, with an ongoing emphasis on personal service.

This vessel features an array of amenities specifically designed for comfort, convenience and luxury on the great waterways of Europe.

The latest high-tech features onboard:

* BICYCLES: Each ship has plenty of bicycles onboard which can be used by passengers, free of charge, to explore the small towns. Most regions offer well-maintained bicycle paths along the river.

* WELLNESS AREA: Located in the aft area of the Violin Deck, this generously designed space includes a glassed-in fitness room, massage and beauty salon; the aft lounge with modern wicker furniture and French doors to enjoy the fresh river air.

* ELEVATOR: Each ship has an elevator, which very few river cruise ships feature. The elevator reaches four different levels: the Restaurant level (1), the Staterooms on the Cello Deck (2), the Lobby and Panorama Lounge (3) and the Staterooms on the Violin Deck (4).

* INFOTAINMENT SYSTEMS: Every stateroom is equipped with monitor, keyboard with Internet access, English language TV stations, a large movie selection and numerous music programs. Our satellite telephone system allows you to call home for a nominal fee.

* STATEROOMS: Inside your exquisitely decorated stateroom, you'll find all the amenities of a fine hotel with white-on-white plush bedding, a cozy sitting area, Infotainment System, hair dryer, safe, terry bathrobes, individually controlled air-conditioning and ample closet space. All staterooms and Jr. Suites are outside; over 82% feature large French balconies, which are a true delight when relaxing in your stateroom.

* JUNIOR SUITES: Although rarely found on European river cruise ships, Junior Suites aboard our ships are extra spacious at 255 square feet. They feature a comfortable sitting area with a sofa and two chairs, floor-to-ceiling windows with French balconies and luxurious, extra spacious bathrooms with bathtubs and showers. The suites sell quickly, so early reservations are recommended.
