Nicaragua travel is finally coming into its own. Want to go?

Nicaragua travel is gearing up for a successful 2013. It is drawing a lot of attention from the tour industry and both the widely-traveled and first-time travelers from across the globe. I'm not surprised: Nicaragua is a country of thriving culture, history, wildlife and boasts a landscape dominated by volcanoes, pristine rainforest and miles & miles of serene sandy shoreline. Our own Adventure Lifer, Kassandra Miller, recently returned from a three-week hiatus in this new Central America hot-spot and earnestly proclaims she would "return in a heartbeat."

Nicaragua travel took its time to get to this point. Recovering from an image of guerrilla warfare, it has quietly made its way onto the scene as an up-and-coming destination to keep on the radar. But this year Nicaragua travel seems to have finally come into its own. Major media outlets like the NBC's Today Show and The New York Times name Nicaragua in their must-sees for 2013. Top adventure travel companies have added interesting Nicaragua tours to their repertoire. The Nicaragua Tourism Board reports that "businesses that offer rappelling, surfing and ashboarding are growing to accommodate interest. More trips to cultural and ecological sites such as old León – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the Indio Maiz Biological Reserve, and the Ometepe Islands are being offered." Infrastructure is growing; and with the recent opening of a new high-end resort, this beautiful country is bound to draw even more attention and a new wave of luxury travelers. The Mukul Resort & Spa is located at Guacalito de la Isla on the Pacific Ocean. It offers a beach club, lounge areas, private swimming pools and the 18-hole Guacalito Golf Course. It is exciting to watch one of Adventure Life's favorite regions get so much attention. It is well-deserved.
