Day 1 Arrive Rio de Janeiro

Arrive this morning to Rio de Janeiro and transfer to your hotel.  A private walking city tour will introduce you to this historic city, a former capital of Brazil.  After seeing the architecture and important cultural sites, spend your free time discovering  Rio’s world famous beaches - Ipanema and Copacabana - and sipping agua de coco (green coconut water) or a caipirinha (a drink made with lime juice and cachaça, sugar cane liqueur).

Day 2 Corcovado and Sugar Loaf Mountains (B)

Visit Rio de Janeiro’s most popular attraction – the 125’ statue of “Christ the Redeemer” - on Corcovado Mountain, meaning 'hunchback' in Portuguese.  The statue was constructed of concrete and soapstone and financed by Brazilian Catholics. Opened in October of 1931, the statue continues to make history.  In 2007, the statue was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.  In February of 2008, the statue was struck by lightning.  Because of the soapstone, the statue was not damaged.

For a different perspective of Rio, you and your guide will take the cable cars that climbs to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain.  From the peak, the entire cidade maravilhosa, (marvelous city), coastline, and Atlantic Ocean spread out below you.

Day 3 Sailing the Atlantic (B)

Travel by bus from Rio towards Santos and enjoy the coastal views on your way to the fishing village of Itacuruca.  Embark on a schooner and head out into Sepetiba Bay.  After an hour of sailing, arrive to an island for lunch and sample regional cuisine. Spend the afternoon swimming and relaxing on the beach before returning by boat to Itacuruca and then transferring to Rio in the early evening.

Day 4 Return Home (B)

We transfer you back to the airport for your return flight home.
