Explore the 128,000 acres of lush jungle ringed by the Spectacular Cockscomb Mountains on the series of nature hiking trails. Day 1 Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary

This tour departs at 7:30 a.m. for a drive of just over an hour to the beautiful park, Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. This park has great hiking trails throughout the lush jungle. The morning will be spent hiking trails, learning the natural history of the forest and birding. On rare occasions one might spot howler monkeys, tapir, peccary or other mammals. After a sack lunch, there is the opportunity to hike up to the waterfall and take a cooling swim in the pool. We will return to Placencia about 5:00 p.m. Overnight at a comfortable hotel in Placencia.
