Join the experts on the ship Le Boreal on this magnificent 8 day journey to the fringes of the Arctic Circle in Iceland! Sail between majestic fjords, amazing glaciers, volcanoes, and geysers to experience landscapes reminiscent of the dawn of time.
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
The first stop on the cruise is in Grundarfjordur, a flourishing fishing community located in the center of the northern coast of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, Grundarfjordur is the perfect place to experience the natural beauty of the peninsula with the rich cultural heritage of western Iceland.
An additional excursion across the Snæfellsnes Peninsula is available during this part of the voyage.
Located on the Arctic Circle, the small island of Grimsey is home to a large variety of different sea birds, including puffins, kittiwakes, the Alca torda, arctic fulmar and the glaucus gull.
Spend the day exploring the charming town of Akureyri, which lies at the end of a magnificent fjord more than 40 km long. Akureyri is the administrative capital of north Iceland and is known for its display of multi-colored houses that line the banks of the Eyjajordur.
Additional excursions to Godafoss and Lake Myvatn are available during this part of the voyage.
Spend the day venturing around Isafjordur, a quaint, urban fishing community that is home to one of the largest fisheries in Iceland.
Additional excursions to kayak around the fjords, take a guided walk around Vigur Island, and explore the maritime culture and traditions of Isafjordur are available during this part of the voyage.
Today explore Heimaey, the largest island in the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago. Heimaey is famous for a stunning landscape full of marine caves, vertical cliffs, and reefs. Keep your eye out for a variety of arctic wildlife, including seals, cetaceans, puffins, and even killer whales!
Weather depending, additional excursions that explore Heimaey by land and sea may be available during this part of the voyage.
Today explore Reykjavik, the world's most northern capital. Surrounded by surreal beauty, this exciting city is close to fields of lava and the silvery reflections of Blue Lagoon, a large, natural swimming pool.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
