Sweden’s capital is one of the most picturesque major cities in the world. Part of an archipelago consisting of about 24,000 rocky islands, Stockholm delivers a vision of spice-colored buildings rising between vibrantly blue-toned waters and skies during the brief summer, then illuminated by the inviting glow of lights above a blanket of snow in winter. Renowned for its progressive nature in every aspect, Stockholm offers cutting-edge minimalist design, trendy fashions and a world-class club scene. The Södermalm neighborhood is distinguished by high waterfront hills graced by charming old homes, with main streets lined with unique shops, art galleries and nightclubs. The city’s center district is a bustling metropolis with boutiques and restaurants the equal of any on the continent.
Day 2: Mariehamn, Finland
This port-of-call is popular during the peak travel season, offering visitors postcard-perfect marinas populated by gleaming sailboats. Built on a peninsula, this lovely archipelago is the largest settlement in the Aland Republic. Mariehamn was founded by Tsar Alexander II in 1861, when Aland and Finland formed part of the Russian Empire, to help support the Empire’s maritime needs. The town is defined by elegant wooden homes spread out along wide tree-lined streets. A distinctive feature is the Esplanade, an avenue of stately trees stretching from west to east, from harbor to harbor. Most points of interest are marine-oriented, such as the Aland Maritime Museum and Maritime Quarter. The Aland Museum features historic exhibits, while the Aland Art Museum highlights the work of regional artists.
Day 3: At Sea
Explore your luxurious small-ship and enjoy the numerous on board amenities.
Day 4-5: St Petersburg, Russia
Russia’s gilded “Window to the West” planned by Peter the Great as a progressive city the equal of any in Europe continues to exceed the expectations of its visionary founder. Combining its fascinating Russian heritage with a distinctly European outlook, St. Petersburg has emerged from the long Soviet era (and its renaming as Leningrad) to recapture its grandeur and claim its place as a thriving, relevant world city. Almost every street welcomes visitors to discover a wealth of history and culture. Touring the major attractions – The Winter Palace, the Hermitage, and Peter and Paul Fortress – will surely provide defining moments in your life. The enticing cafes, restaurants and shops testify to the city’s re-invigoration. Nature itself offers such unique wonders as the famous White Nights, the long summer days when the sun barely dips below the horizon.
Day 6: Helsinki, Finland
Stretching along the Gulf of Finland along the Baltic Sea, Helsinki is a quintessential sea-town. The coastline’s wondrously irregular geography offers numerous bays, inlets and a sprinkling of unspoiled islands. So defined by water is the city, that the harbor is the centerpiece of its urban environment. Watching the massive ferries make port is among the elemental Helsinki experiences that travelers commit to memory as well as video camera. Elegantly integrated into this unique backdrop are exquisite Art Nouveau buildings, museums, restaurants and cafes always brimming with both locals and travelers. Finland was governed by Russia until 1919, and reminders of the Czars' influence are found throughout Helsinki – from the Russian Orthodox Cathedral near the harbor to the fortress on Suomenlinna Island, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Other places of special interest include Senate Square, Market Square and central shopping district Aleksanterinkatu.
Day 7: Tallinn, Estonia
As one of Europe’s most captivating cities, Tallinn is a stimulating mixture of medieval and contemporary – often coexisting in the same urban space. The spires of 14th-century churches set on narrow cobblestone streets rise above decidedly fashion-forward cafes, restaurants and shops located within the stone walls of structures largely unchanged since the middle ages. The Old Town medieval city center isn’t merely well-preserved – it’s a thriving district of continuing importance to Tallinn. The longest Old Town street is Pikk, the location of impressive guild houses, St. Olav's Church and other architectural treasures. In 2011, Tallinn proudly assumes its role as European Capital of Culture, giving the city a chance to showcase the best of its creative spirit to the rest of the world. Beyond the medieval district, travelers can visit Peter the Great's baroque masterpiece Kadriorg Palace, or head to Pirita or Väna-Jõesuu to enjoy beach culture.
Day 8: Sandhamn, Sweden
Experienced travelers who despair of being jostled by mere tourists may be permitted their feelings of superiority and relief upon arrival on this peaceful island. Here, one can experience the remarkable maritime terrain of the outer archipelago. Sandhamn is the primary meeting place for sailors and yachters, with a vibrant party scene during summer. Decidedly off the mass-holidaymakers path, this idyllic village offers opportunities for discovery at every turn: narrow alleys, cottages in shades of rust red, and a historical sea pilot station. The classic Royal Swedish Yacht Club could be just at home in the Hamptons, while numerous restaurants and bars cater to yacht-culture patrons.
Day 9: Stockholm, Sweden

This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.

The response from Adventure Life to my first inquiry was prompt and promising. I worked with Jamie Broeckel, Trip Planner, via text, email, and phone calls- always extremely responsive and thorough with information and explaining the process to arrange a private tour for me to Malaysia Borneo. Within about week, the booking was complete and I made decisions because of Jamie's great customer service , friendly manner, and overall competence on behalf of the company's travel expertise. Now I have an itinerary, additional Trip Planner Assistants, several links for vital information for traveling to Maylasia, etc. Still many details for Sept. trip, but now the heavy lifting is done and I can enjoy the rest of the anticipation and research!! Thanks Jamie- you are amazing!!!!

The trip was not only memorable for the amount of animals we saw but also for the people and accommodations at the two camps where we stayed. Our first guide, BK, was a wealth of information about the animals, landscape and down to the plants and what they were used for. Everyday out was a learning experience with him. All the people at the camps were gracious and the food was excellent.
Our second camp in the Okavanga was just as good as the first as far as the staff, accommodations, food and animals. After our experience at the first camp we amazed that the high quality remained the same. Our guide, G, made sure we were able to enjoy every experience including a rush through the bush to witness a cheetah and an ensuing hunt that he heard over his radio.
In both camps there were enough guides out that if they saw something the other guides were informed which helped in seeing as much as possible. It was also nice that the concessions were large enough that we did not have vehicles following each other throughout the day.
Normally there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took.
Perhaps emphasizing the use of the laundry facilities at the camps would be useful because of the luggage restrictions would be the only thing I can think of as an improvement to future clients.
