Day 1: Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy | Embark

Arrive at one of the largest and busiest ports in the Mediterranean - Civitavecchia is the gateway to Rome. Rome has been recognized as one of the most-visited cities in the world. Its incredible history spans over 2,500 years, and its historic center is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Monuments and museums such as the Vatican Museum and the Colosseum are amongst the world's 50 most-visited destinations. Board the ship and attend dinner as the ship sets sail.

Day 2: Polto Quatu (Porto Cervo), Sardinia, Italy

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Porto Cervo is an Italian seaside resort in northern Sardinia in an area called the Costa Smeralda (Emerald coast). The SeaDream is most likely the only commercial ship allowed to call to this amazing port. There have been several restrictions made on navigating and calling to ports within the protected national park zone.

Optional Activities:

Porto Cervo Marina, Sardinia – Classical Costa Smeralda:
Take the opportunity to explore the Emerald Coast, probably one of the most exclusive and beautiful areas of all of the Sardinian Islands. A guide meets you on the pier for a brisk walk from the harbor to the coaches waiting at the upper piazzetta. Enjoy a beautiful drive from Poltu Quatu along the scenic and impressive coastline, passing lovely beaches and posh villages. The first stop is at Baia Sardinia, a new holiday resort near the Emerald Coast. After a short visit your motor coach leaves the coastline behind and heads toward one of the most beautiful areas of northern Sardinia: the hills of San Pantaleo surrounded by impressive granite rocks. See the famous Romazzino Hotel, a fantasy in white perched on a hill, draped with bougainvillea. The next stop is at Porto Cervo. There is time to stroll along the streets and squares of what is considered to be the hub of Costa Smeralda. Visit the famous Piazzetta and admire the elegant shops, charming restaurants, and cafés. On your return, stop briefly to visit a local outdoor café for a tasting of the local vino and cheeses after which you continue the drive along the last part of the coastline that has to be seen to complete the image of the Emerald Coast.
Duration: 4 hours

Day 3: Bonifacio, Corsica, France

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
As the ship approaches Bonifacio the Captain generally navigates along the limestone cliffs, giving guests a sea view of incredible Bonifacio as well as the famous Aragon steps leading to the water’s edge. Shortly after the pilot embarks, the Captain turns the yacht around and backs into this very impressive fjord-like marina.

Optional Activities:

Bonifacio, Corsica – The White City by Train & Boat: This fun, varied, and interesting land adventure is an excellent opportunity to not only get to know your way around for independent explorations later in the day, but a knowledgeable and experienced guide provides you with a historic insight and context to let you appreciate this beautiful town to its fullest. Begin your visit with a mini-tram ride which takes you up to the oldest part of Bonifacio to provide you with a quick overview of this charming town. Pass the Bosco quarter with the St. Francis Convent and the strange but fascinating cemetery dedicated to mariners with wonderful mausoleums displaying a jumble of architectural styles. On clear days you may also enjoy a panoramic view of Corsica's closest neighbor - the Italian island, Sardinia. Then pass the church St. Dominique, a rare example of Corsican gothic architecture, built in 1270 most probably by the Templars. Following the orientation by mini-tram, continue your visit on foot through tiny, narrow streets bordered with high granite houses. Continue through the heart of the historical part of town to the Two Emperors street where Napoleon Bonaparte and Charles V spent a few days, the Place des Armes, the Jardins des Vestiges, and then to the old market where there is a viewpoint over the 230 ft. cliffs on top of which Bonifacio was built! Return to the mini-train for the journey from the Citadel back to the port, where a local boat stands ready to show you the grottos at the base of the white cliffs. Catch a glimpse of the clearness of the water and, weather conditions permitting, enter the magnificent Grotto Sdragonatu, the largest of the three caves and which resembles the shape of Corsica. Inside discover the beautiful colors of amethyst, indigo, and gold, the clear water, and the rock walls with stalactites and arches. Continue your visit, passing St. Antoine and St. Barthelemy Caves, and the staircase of the King of Aragon carved in the limestone cliffs. After this boat ride of about 45 minutes, return to the ship.
Duration: 3.5 hours

Bonifacio, Corsica – Lavezzi Island by Boat: Board a local boat for an unforgettable trip along the extraordinary coastline of Bonifacio. Discover the dramatic sight of the citadel and the upper town; get the best perspective of its buildings overhanging the magnificent chalky cliffs which look like they are about to topple into the sea. Onboard the motor boat navigate out through the narrow harbor entrance called the Goulet, passing the deep rocky inlets with their clear aquamarine waters and the magical Grotte du Sdragonatu, which is entered through a narrow and low passage. The cave, with its gloriously colored seabed, is a single huge chamber with a hole in the roof shaped like a map of Corsica. Further along, reach Lavezzi Island from which the whole archipelago gets its name and which is formed by a group of small, barren, uninhabited granite islands located 10km southeast of Bonifacio. One hour is allocated to enjoy its beautiful sandy beaches and azure-colored sea and to linger on this island which is classified as a Nature Reserve since 1982. The island is home to several rare species of wildflowers such as yellow-horned poppy and white sea daffodil. On the way back pass close to Cavallo Island, pass the Pointe de Sperone, and come back through the calanque and the cliffs before reaching the attractive and lively marina in Bonifacio.
Duration: 3 hours

Optional Activities:

Saint Florent, Corsica – Cap Corse Scenic Overview: Until the end of the 19th century when Napoleon III ordered the rebuilding of the coach road, this long peninsula called the Cap Corse was cut off from the rest of the island. Cap Corse is really the only place in Corsica where people live from agriculture and fishing! Stop at Erbalunga's lovely marina, beloved by French romantics, and drive through the small marinas of Sisco, Pietracorbara, and Porticciolo. Leave the coast for a short drive in the mountains in the direction of Luri, and join the west side of the Cap Corse in Pino. Admire the fascinating view on the green hills and the deep-blue sea. During this visit, discover the old town and the citadel quarter, the cathedral St. Marie, the governor's palace, and the old port. While walking through the narrow streets, discover some signs of a rich and interesting past. Pass through St. Nicolas square, the meeting point of all the population. Pass the Terra Vecchia (old earth) which leads from St. Nicolas to the old port, along irregular un-paved streets, passing cute little chapels and oratorio in baroque-style like the Oratoire St Roch, or the "flamboyant" Oratoire de l'Immaculee Conception. Stop at the Roccoco church St. Jean Baptiste, famous for its twin campaniles. Construction began in 1420, and it is said that up to 10,000 Florentines could be accommodated for the sermons of Savonarola. Following your visit to the Duomo, enjoy a light pasta and salad lunch at a typical Florentine restaurant. Your final stop is in Holy Cross Square, where you receive a brief introduction to the Santa Croce Church. The splendid interior of this church is a jigsaw puzzle of marble tombs, and contains chapels frescoed by Giotto, and Brunelleschi's Pazzi Chapel. The tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, and Rossini all lie within. The rest of the afternoon is spent at your leisure before meeting at Holy Cross Square for the return to Livorno and SeaDream.

Livorno (Florence) – Renaissance Ramparts of Lucca by Bike: Today's Yachting Land Adventure begins with a scenic 45-minute drive, via motorcoach, through the Tuscany countryside to Lucca, an enchanting destination largely bypassed by time and tourists. These stone walls surround the village and are up to 40 feet high and more than 2 miles long by about 60 feet wide. Begin with a walking orientation taking in some of the highlights along the cobbled Via Fililungo, little Lucca's version of Rome's Via Veneto. Your guide points out the Romanesque facades and facilitates a stop at San Frediano Church. At Santa Maria Square, bicycles are lined up, awaiting your arrival. Up you go to ride along the ancient city walls, enjoying the panoramic view below and stopping along the way to visit St Martino Cathedral, Giglio Square, Napoleone Square, and the house that was the birthplace of Puccini. Some free time is afforded for browsing in the upscale shops, looking for the famed 'olio d'oliva lucchese' of the region, or just finding a chair at one of the sleepy cafès and catching a glimpse of Lucca life before returning to Viareggio and SeaDream. Molto Bene!
