Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Hafnarfjörður is an attractive harbor city located just a few kilometers from the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik. You get there by sea, so you can see the fishing boats moored in the bays. As you approach, see the immersed rocks of volcanic origin; in fact, Hafnarfjörður is built on an ancient field of lava flow. In the town center, basalt rocks point you in the direction of the historic houses of Sivertsen and Siggubær: their interiors and period furniture bring old Iceland back to life before your very eyes. Not far from here, you can fill your lungs with sea air by taking the coastal walk, which is well worth it for the beautiful, panoramic views.
Skjoldungen is an uninhabited coastal island in the southeastern shores of Greenland. It is located between two fjords, the Southern Skjoldungen Fjord, to the southwest, and the Northern Skjoldungen Fjord to the northeast. Spend the day hiking and exploring the stunning landscapes.
The Prince Christian Sound connects the Labrador Sea with the Irminger Sea.There is only one settlement along this sound, Aappilattoq. The long fjord system is mostly surrounded by steep mountains reaching over 120 0m in height. Many glaciers going straight into its waters calve icebergs. There are often strong tidal currents limiting the formation of ice.
Herjolfsnes was a Norse settlement in Greenland, located approximately 50 km northwest of Cape Farewell. It was established in the late 10th century and is believed to have lasted approximately 500 years. The fate of its Norse inhabitants, as with the Norse Greenland colony as a whole, is unknown. The site is known today for having yielded remarkably well-preserved medieval garments, excavated by Danish archaeologist Paul Norland in 1921.
The fertile region of South Greenland is home to the well-preserved ruins of one of the first Christian churches on the North American continent - Hvalsey Church. Long before Columbus ever had the idea of sailing west to try to find a shorter route to India, the Norse settlers from Scandinavia had established themselves in Greenland. The fertile South Greenlandic fjords had attracted Norse settlers from Iceland and many estates and farms had been established in the new country.
Inhabited by an entire population of Vikings from the 10th century, Nuuk has since become the refuge of Inuit populations. Established at the mouth of one of the world’s largest fjords, Greenland’s capital extends gradually over Davis Strait and boasts a historic center with a particularly rich heritage. The bright reds, blues, greens, and yellows of the houses contrast with the dark waters of Greenland to warm the heart and spirit of local inhabitants during the winter. The rich colors of the tundra mingled with the sea and sky create a stunning picture.
Disko Bay has been an important location for centuries. Its coastline was first encountered by Europeans when Erik the Red started a settlement in 985 AD on the more habitable western coast of Greenland. The two settlements, called the Eastern and Western settlements, were sustenance economies that survived on animal husbandry. Soon after the Western settlement was established, the Norsemen traveled up the coast during the summer thaw and discovered Disko Bay.
Ilulissat Fjord offers an extraordinary spectacle. Embark on an unforgettable adventure aboard a local boat to discover this river of ice. When the light changes as the sun’s angle shifts, the icebergs display strange colors, draping themselves in gold, pink, red, and mauve as off in the distance the houses light up for nightfall. In the isolated bay, the horizon, water, and ice meld together and become one.
Evigheds Fjord or “Eternity Fjord” is a fjord in West Greenland and is nearby to Qingârssuk and Torssût. Cruise and explore the glassy water surrounded by stunning peaks.
Day 13: Kangerlussuaq | Disembark
1 Breakfast
Kangerlussuaq is a settlement on the west coast of Greenland near the end of a fjord of the same name. A former U.S. military base, Kangerlussuaq is the transportation hub for the country today, connecting travelers and locals with other towns in Greenland to international destinations like Copenhagen, Denmark, and Iceland. The town is also surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and wildlife. Thousands of musk oxen roam the mountains and valleys near the town, which are accessible by hiking trails.

We are so glad that we chose Adventure Life. The service is top-notch. Everything is well taken care of and we just have to print the documents and go. Franny even gave us timely updates on possible airport strike.

The response from Adventure Life to my first inquiry was prompt and promising. I worked with Jamie Broeckel, Trip Planner, via text, email, and phone calls- always extremely responsive and thorough with information and explaining the process to arrange a private tour for me to Malaysia Borneo. Within about week, the booking was complete and I made decisions because of Jamie's great customer service , friendly manner, and overall competence on behalf of the company's travel expertise. Now I have an itinerary, additional Trip Planner Assistants, several links for vital information for traveling to Maylasia, etc. Still many details for Sept. trip, but now the heavy lifting is done and I can enjoy the rest of the anticipation and research!! Thanks Jamie- you are amazing!!!!

The trip was not only memorable for the amount of animals we saw but also for the people and accommodations at the two camps where we stayed. Our first guide, BK, was a wealth of information about the animals, landscape and down to the plants and what they were used for. Everyday out was a learning experience with him. All the people at the camps were gracious and the food was excellent.
Our second camp in the Okavanga was just as good as the first as far as the staff, accommodations, food and animals. After our experience at the first camp we amazed that the high quality remained the same. Our guide, G, made sure we were able to enjoy every experience including a rush through the bush to witness a cheetah and an ensuing hunt that he heard over his radio.
In both camps there were enough guides out that if they saw something the other guides were informed which helped in seeing as much as possible. It was also nice that the concessions were large enough that we did not have vehicles following each other throughout the day.
Normally there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took.
Perhaps emphasizing the use of the laundry facilities at the camps would be useful because of the luggage restrictions would be the only thing I can think of as an improvement to future clients.
