Day 1 Punta Arenas, Chile
Arrival at the city of Punta Arenas where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. During the afternoon, before dinner, you will receive information about the regulations that should be followed in Antarctica and about the procedures of embarkation and disembarkation. Later, you will enjoy a welcome dinner at the José Nogueira Hotel, a centenary French style mansion, where you will have the chance to meet your expedition mates.
Please note: Passengers should be in Punta Arenas at 15:00 hours, at the latest. Pick-up at Punta Arenas airport and transfer to the hotel are not guaranteed for passengers arriving later than 15:00 hours.
Day 2 Flight to King George Island
Your Antarctic adventure begins. Fly from Punta Arenas to King George Island (South Shetland Islands). The flight takes a little over one hour and a half. Upon arrival tour around the area where the Presidente Eduardo Frei M. Chilean Base and Bellinghausen Russian Base are located. Gather at the beach on Fildes Bay for embarkation, by Zodiac boats, to M/V Ocean Nova.
Days 3-6 Antarctic Exploration
As you cruise between the South Shetland Islands and the Peninsula, sailing along ice-filled fjords and between spectacular icebergs, enjoy the company of sea birds, penguins, seals and whales. Your journey toward the south may include visits to some of the most magnificent spots in the white continent such as: Hannah Point, Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, Cuverville and Deception Islands, amongst others. Adventures will be full, with daily landings and cruises in zodiacs boats, selected lectures and an enjoyable time on board.
Day 7 Return Flight to Punta Arenas / Return Home
Return to King George Island where you will disembark, in Zodiac boats, at Fildes Bay by Presidente Eduardo Frei M. Chilean Base, and head to the Teniente Marsh aerodrome to take the flight back to Punta Arenas. End of program upon arrival at the airport in Punta Arenas. It is recommended to schedule an extra night in Punta Arenas in case of any delays with the return flight before taking your independent flight home.
Transfer to the city will be available for passengers staying overnight in Punta Arenas. One complimentary hotel night in Punta Arenas is offered upon request for day 7 of the travel program.

Initial deposit is $750 for Antarctic Express Itineraries, $1500 for all other itineraries, and most travelers will call our office and pay the deposit with a credit card. Jumping over Cape Horn and the mythical waters of the Drake Passage and in less than 2 hours of flying from Punta Arenas to King George Island, the largest Island of the South Shetland Archipielago, you will be at the gates of the white continent.
The Ocean Nova (previously called Sarpik Ittuk) was built in 1992 at the Řrskov Shipyard in Frederikshavn, Denmark, to navigate the ice-choked waters off Western Greenland. The ship was upgraded in 2000 and significantly refurbished once again in 2006 to include a glass-enclosed forward observation lounge on the top deck – and to offer travelers an even more comfortable retreat after days of exploring ashore. Carrying up to 62 passengers and classified to operate in ice-filled waters, the 73-meter vessel is guided by Danish officers with deep experience in polar navigation. With outside cabins only (all with private facilities) and a spacious dining room, the Ocean Nova is a perfect expedition ship for discovering Antarctica.
The Ocean Nova offers unreserved seating, buffet-style breakfast with table service, table-service lunch and dinner with main course choices from a changing daily menu, and afternoon cakes. The lounge and bar are open all day with a wide selection of wines and spirits. The Ocean Nova also features a library with a collection of polar-themed books, exercise room, and a clinic with a licensed doctor.
