This all-day excursion starts at Ranch Harberton, from which you depart in the direction of Brown Bay, a scenic location encircled by the Fuegian Andes Mountains. Then you stroll around and board a motorboat to Martillo Island, which is home to around 100 pairs of rocky cormorants that build their nests on the southern cliffs, as well as 3,000 pairs of Magellanic and Papuan penguins. Continue your voyage to Gable Island, where you can climb to discover the island's beaver dams, the Magellanic forest, and the remains of the Yámana families who formerly shared it with the Anglican missionaries.

Day 1: Ranch Harberton | Martillo Island | Gable Island

Departing from your hotel in the morning, you leave towards Brown Bay, a panoramic point surrounded by the Fuegian Andes Mountains.
You arrive at Ranch Harberton, the first one in Tierra del Fuego founded in 1886. You will walk around and then take a motor boat to Martillo Island, which hosts 3,000 pairs of Magellanic and Papuan penguins, and more than 100 pairs of rocky cormorants that nest on the southern cliffs.
You continue sailing to Gable Island, where lunch awaits. Afterwards, you go on a hike to explore the island and find beaver dams, the Magellanic forest and vestiges of the Yámana families that lived with the Anglican missionaries centuries ago. You will arrive at the beach with a view of the virgin coasts and transparent waters, where you find the boat that will take you back to Harberton and then take the bus to Ushuaia.

Duration: 10-11 hours.
Schedule: 8:00 am to 6:30 pm approx.
Difficulty: Medium.

Note: Harberton is closed on Tuesdays

Please make sure to bring: Waterproof jacket/fleece jacket. Waterproof walking shoes/trainers with good traction. Hat or cap. Sunglasses. The timing and the order of the tour activities might change if necessary. Depending on the time of the year and the climatic conditions, from the boat it is possible to see the different bird species.
